Soon, the table was full of food.
Lu Jianguo looked at all this: “Kid, how do you always have so much stuff in that bag?”
Gu Pan was very matter-of-fact: “We usually carry more with us, just in case a sudden disaster strikes and we get trapped sowhere. Having food ans there’s nothing to fear. We got used to doing this when we were outside.”
Hearing this, Lu Jianguo thought their habit was very sound: “You’re right, it’s a good habit, and I need to learn it too.”
Gu Pan served Lu Jianguo a bowl of soup: “Dad, have so soup.”
Lu Jianguo took a sip: “You two are clever. Before, you set up a greenhouse in your courtyard and dried a lot of vegetables. Now there’s no shortage. The base relies on lamps to grow veggies, but the yield is low. The new vegetables provided by the main base take ten days to mature. Now without sunlight, if people don’t get the vitamins, they can’t hold up.”

“The base has rushed to produce so simulated sunlight LED lamps, but there aren’t enough, so they’re still in production. The materials needed are also being sought after,” Lu Jianguo said, feeling helpless.
Gu Pan said: “If it doesn’t work out, set up these lamps as irradiation points in public places so that base inhabitants can queue up and get exposed for certain tis each day.”

Gu Pan understood this; after all, it was a large base with many people.

After leaving Lu Jianguo, Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng went to the housing center, found Chen Lu, and decided to return one of the houses.

“Yep, all good. We traveled with the base convoy, so it was safe,” said Gu Pan, handing a bag to Chen Lu. “Look at it when you get ho, keep it safe.”
Chen Lu guessed it was supplies and hugged the bag tightly: “Thank you.”
Gu Pan shook her head: “We’re friends. There’s no need for courtesy. Actually, we ca today to return a house, the one in the apartnt building. With more people coming in, it’s not right for us to take up too much space.”
Chen Lu said: “There’s still enough housing available. If you need it, there’s no rush to return it.”
“That room isn’t needed, so we’ll return it,” said Gu Pan, handing over the rental contract for the house they wanted to return to Chen Lu.
