Lu Jianshe replied, “No need. The base fears contagious diseases the most. Bodies are burned and taken out on the sa day. They are not allowed to stay overnight at the base.”

“I don’t know; when I left, he had locked himself in his room.”
“With his timid nature, he wouldn’t die of fright but it’s bound to take a toll on him. However, we promised Zhang Huishu to take him back with us, so let’s bring him along when we return.”
“Okay,” Gu Pan said, then peered into the ward. “Will you stay here the whole ti?”
“No need, the security officer is here. We can go back together.”
“Then let’s go.”
The two didn’t worry further about the old man; he was well taken care of and vital to the base, so the hospital would provide the best dical resources. They didn’t need to concern themselves too much.
Back at Lu Wanli’s house, the vehicle to cremate Huang Suzhen had already arrived and Lu Lianlian went with it.
After Lu Lianlian left with the vehicle, only Gu Pan, Lu Ruisheng, Second Uncle, and Second Aunt remained at ho. Lu Ruiming was entirely out of sight in his room.
The four of them sat on the sofa, quite relaxed.
Lu Jianshe looked at Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng and laughed. “All those plans we made, laid out so clearly, and in the end, I didn’t participate or see anything. It’s all over just like that.”
Gu Pan also laughed. “That’s my fault. I should’ve recorded a video for Second Uncle. It was so thrilling, more intense than we thought, we just got caught up watching.”
Su Qing, curious, asked, “Is Lu Ruiming really born to the old lady’s paramour?”
Gu Pan nodded. “Yes, he looks too much like him; everyone recognized it without a word.”
Lu Jianshe looked at Lu Ruisheng. “Are you planning to head back?” He was reluctant, but couldn’t change it. Recently, having his nephew around was delightful, but with his elder brother alone at No.7 Base, he was also worried.
Lu Ruisheng knew Second Uncle was reluctant to see them go. “Yes, we’re heading back. But the distance isn’t far. When Panpan and I are free, we’ll co visit you.
