Chapter 270: Chapter 270: There Are Still More Good People

Lu Ruisheng wasn’t a spoilsport. He mounted his motorcycle, gestured for Gu Pan to hop on, and took her for a spin before returning to Lu Jianshe’s side.

“Second Uncle, please thank Second Aunt for ,” Lu Ruisheng truly liked motorcycles.

Lu Jianshe said, “You can say it yourself when you see her. Your Second Aunt is really happy to see you both and love seeing you enjoy yourselves.”

Gu Pan said, “Second Uncle, let’s go to your house tonight and cook a lavish dinner for Second Aunt.”

Lu Jianshe naturally had no objections, “Sure, that ans I’ll be in for a treat too.”

When the group headed back to Lu Jianshe’s ho, they passed by Su Mu’s place and noticed the door was open.

Gu Pan said to Lu Jianshe, “Second Uncle, we’ll go back and pick up so gifts and visit my uncle.”

Lu Jianshe replied, “We have so at ho, just go back and grab them.”

Lu Ruisheng said, “We should bring our own tokens of appreciation. Second Uncle, wait for us at ho; we’ll buy so groceries on the way back.”

Before Lu Jianshe could respond, Lu Ruisheng started up the motorcycle, waved goodbye with Gu Pan, and they were off.

Lu Jianshe watched them go and muttered to himself, “Young people are really full of energy.”

Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng didn’t actually go back; they took a detour instead. Afterwards, they took out cigarettes, liquor, sugar, tea, and so at and vegetables from the Space, returning to Lu Jianshe’s ho.

They left the items for dinner at ho, then carrying the gifts, they followed Lu Jianshe to Su Mu’s house.

On the way, Lu Jianshe told them that Su Mu lived alone and the family had dwindled to just him. He was usually at his workplace and didn’t co ho much, maybe twice a week just to change and wash his clothes.

So things went without saying; it was understood his family likely perished in the apocalypse, so there was no need to dwell on it.

Upon reaching Su Mu’s ho, they were greeted by a man in his mid-forties who resembled Su Qing, tall with glasses, appearing rather refined.

Smiling, Su Mu ca out to et them, “Jianshe’s here, and these two young people, I haven’t t before.”

Lu Jianshe replied with a smile, “You’re always at your workplace; it’s hard to catch you. This is my big brother’s lost child, Lu Ruisheng, and his wife, Gu Pan.”

Hearing this, Su Mu was taken aback and stared at Lu Ruisheng for a while before speaking, “You do resemble him. It’s good that you’ve been found.”

Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng politely called him uncle.

Su Mu wasn’t quite like they expected. Though a workaholic, he was very easy-going. He was like that amiable elder in the family, approachable and kind-hearted.

Once inside and seated, Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng placed the gifts on the table.

Frowning at the gifts, Su Mu comnted, “Why make such a fuss bringing these to ? These must’ve cost a fair amount. Take them back.”

Lu Jianshe said, “It’s the thought that counts, and you should accept them. After all, we don’t have many relatives left since the apocalypse. How many do we truly connect with? We’re all family, so let’s not talk like strangers.”

Su Mu argued, “It’s because we’re family that I say this. I’m hardly ever ho and have no need for these elaborate gestures. It would be a waste on . Take them to your place; at least you can use them as gifts, and they will have so value.”

Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng sat quietly on the side, finding the elders’ back-and-forth quite amusing.

It was so ti before the two elders dropped the subject. Su Mu then began to inquire about the couple’s post-apocalyptic experiences.

Listening to their harrowing tales, he grew anxious and then shared his own family’s story from the apocalypse.

Because they were not in Capital City when the extre cold ca, they were unprepared and did not evacuate imdiately, getting trapped in the city where they used to live; his wife and child died during the pestilence, which hit their area particularly hard, taking many lives.

Everyone was very subdued when talking about these matters, having all lived through that ti and knowing the terror of it.

After so casual conversation, Su Mu took them upstairs to the study.

He then gave a key to the house to Lu Ruisheng, “If you two are free, co over and read the books in this room. It contains instructions for all kinds of weapons, as well as various ans of transportation. In short, if the day cos when you really need it, you should be able to use these tools to protect yourselves at any ti. This is the most appropriate gift I, as an elder, can think of to give you right now.”

Honestly, this was the most practical gift Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng had ever received. Although Lu Ruisheng, as a special forces soldier, knew a lot, there were still things he didn’t know or newly developed weapons in recent years, and this collection was the most comprehensive and up-to-date.

Lu Ruisheng didn’t refuse and took the key, “Thank you, Uncle, we really like this gift and will work hard to learn everything.”

Gu Pan also expressed her thanks; she had already decided that later on, when they ca over, she would take pictures of the important materials so that they could continue learning even if they returned to No.7 Base.

After spending a good half of the day there, Lu Jianshe arranged with Su Mu for him to co over for dinner in the evening, then he took Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng back ho.

Once ho, the three of them got busy preparing dinner.

Dinner was a lavish affair, and Su Qing, upon slling the aromas in the courtyard, couldn’t help but enter the kitchen, “Is this Panpan’s cooking? It slls incredible!”

Gu Pan said with a smile, “Second Aunt, go wash your hands and get ready for dinner; there are just two more dishes to finish. Second Uncle has gone to call Uncle over, and once they’re back, we can start eating.”

Su Qing looked at the dishes prepared on the stove, “I’m really blessed, what family has children as good as ours?”

While stir-frying the dishes, Gu Pan replied to Su Qing, “Of course, they are children from Beautiful Su’s family.”

Su Qing laughed so hard she could barely compose herself, “Co this evening, Second Aunt will give you sothing nice.”

Gu Pan could guess without asking; it would definitely be gold and silver jewelry.

Soon after, they all sat down to eat.

Although Su Mu was not particularly picky about food, after being in the apocalypse for so long, he was very happy to have such delicious food and had an extra bowl of rice.

As for Su Qing, it went without saying; the food not only tasted good but also carried the flavor of happiness.

After dinner, Lu Ruisheng joined Second Uncle and Uncle in the living room for a chat, while Su Qing took Gu Pan to the bedroom and brought out many pieces of jewelry from the safe.

Gu Pan couldn’t accept so much, but Su Qing insisted on giving it to her, hanging it around her neck, on her wrists, on her ears—it was all jewelry.

Gu Pan extended her heavy-laden hand, eight rings glittering on one hand, dazzling the eyes.

Su Qing was very pleased, “They all look so beautiful; I’ll wrap them up for you.”

Gu Pan really didn’t know how to refuse, as any refusal would upset Su Qing.

So she simply accepted them, resolving to give Second Uncle and Second Aunt more help in the future, to enable them to live even better lives.

She couldn’t put all this jewelry into the Space; Lun Wanli’s gold bars, given previously, weren’t put into the Space either. These items couldn’t be absorbed by the Space just yet.

The next few days passed relatively peacefully, with the weather returning to the normal cycle of day and night.

They would visit Uncle Su Mu to read and photograph docuntation during their free ti, archiving it as it would be useful later on.

Of course, they had not forgotten to search Lun Wanli’s study and conference room for coordinates.

That night, the two of them disabled the surveillance on the door and stealthily snuck into the study.
