Chapter 550 — Smash All Pots and Pans To Go to School
The corridor outside Damocles Military Academy’s dormitory was quiet late at night.
Wei San leaned against the wall and watched Ying Xingjue walk away in the distance. The small tube containing the blood sample was still in his hand.
“He really took it away.” Wei San murmured.
Inside the dormitory, Ying Chenghe scratched his head and looked at her.
“You trust my cousin that much?”
Wei San shrugged and leaned back on the sofa.
“He’s the only one who can actually see those black bugs clearly. If anyone can figure sothing out from the blood sample, it’s him.”
Ying Chenghe thought about it for a mont and then sat down across from her.
“So… what now?”
Wei San lifted her hand and stared at the small cuts across her palm.
The scratches still stung slightly.
“That person who changed the blood sample,” she said slowly, “must know about the black insect fog.”
Ying Chenghe’s expression changed.
“That ans… soone inside the training base is already aware of it?”
“More than one person, probably,” Wei San replied lazily. “Otherwise the surveillance wouldn’t have been blocked so cleanly.”
The two of them fell silent.
After a while Ying Chenghe asked:
“Should we tell Jin Ke?”
Wei San tilted her head.
“Of course.”
—
A few minutes later, the communication device on the table lit up.
The holographic projection of Jin Ke appeared, followed by Huo Xuanshan.
“You two went to check the blood samples tonight?” Jin Ke asked directly.
Wei San briefly explained what happened in the sample storage room.
When she ntioned soone replacing the blood sample, both Jin Ke and Huo Xuanshan’s expressions grew serious.
“So the problematic sample disappeared,” Huo Xuanshan said.
“Only Takeshi Kosakai’s blood sample had an issue before,” Ying Chenghe added.
Jin Ke crossed his arms.
“That ans whoever changed it knows exactly which sample was dangerous.”
Wei San tapped the table with her finger.
“Not only that. He ca at night and covered the surveillance beforehand. That’s not sothing an ordinary staff mber could do.”
“You suspect a teacher?” Huo Xuanshan asked.
“Or soone with the sa level of authority,” Wei San replied.
Jin Ke’s gaze darkened slightly.
“The problem just got bigger.”
No one spoke for a while.
Outside the dormitory window, the training ground lights were still on in the distance.
After a mont, Jin Ke finally said:
“Ying Xingjue has the blood sample now, right?”
Wei San nodded.
“He’ll probably analyze it himself.”
“That’s good,” Jin Ke said quietly. “If the blood really contains traces of the black insect fog, he should be able to see it.”
Huo Xuanshan frowned.
“But if soone inside the base is already hiding the evidence… we won’t get another chance to check the samples.”
Wei San stretched lazily on the sofa.
“Then we don’t check samples anymore.”
Jin Ke looked at her.
“What do you an?”
Wei San grinned.
“If the blood samples can be replaced…”
“Then we’ll just observe the people themselves.”
The room fell silent again.
Everyone understood what that ant.
If the black insect fog really infected people—
then the infected individuals must still be here, sowhere inside the training base.
Jin Ke finally spoke:
“Tomorrow we start watching everyone more carefully.”
Wei San raised her hand casually.
“Count
out for watching. I can’t see those bugs.”
“But Ying Xingjue can.”
Jin Ke nodded slowly.
“Yes.”
“If we want to find the infected people…”
“We’ll need his help.”
Outside, footsteps echoed faintly in the hallway.
At the sa ti, in another dormitory building, Ying Xingjue stood by the window.
The small tube of blood was still in his hand.
A faint trace of black mist slowly surfaced inside the liquid.
His expression turned cold.
“So it’s real…”
