They just casually said a Stampede broke out!

We’re not prepared at all!

And the scale is...

"One... ten thousand!"

Even Yabe’s voice cracked from the shock.

A Stampede on the scale of ten thousand!?

Isn’t that national disaster level!?

And they’re heading straight here.

This is nothing short of a nightmare.

NaiSe and I quickly started confirming the personnel we could use for defense and holding a strategy eting.

Damn it... There’s no adventurer party that can handle a disaster of this magnitude!

Right then, a guard burst in.

"The monsters from the dungeon are overflowing!"

The guard’s report ca in, but we already knew thanks to Yabe’s information.

We were already aware of the Stampede.

"So, what’s the scale?"

Deputy NaiSe asked for the necessary details.

"W-well... the monsters suddenly poured out of the dungeon and are heading straight toward us in massive numbers, so the exact scale is..."

The guard answered in a fluster.

"Is anyone else confirming the scale besides you?"

"There were six of us including the shift workers on duty, but I ca back as quickly as possible to deliver this information..."

Ugh, useless... No, it’s just that Yabe’s information was too accurate and too fast.

When ten thousand monsters co flooding out, just running back with your tail between your legs might be all you can manage.

"For now, even if it’s too late, we should request reinforcents from the royal capital—"

Yabe stood up, cutting off NaiSe’s words.

He said he had a proposal, so we listened. He declared he would go out and fight with just his own forces. Is this guy insane!?

But then he started listing all sorts of conditions and requests—like he wanted to hide his abilities—and on top of that, he declared he would annihilate the monsters without leaving a single trace. He also said he wouldn’t report the results of the extermination and didn’t want any honors.

I couldn’t believe it. Stopping a disaster of this scale would normally get you insane rewards from the king himself. Hell, he might even get knighted. There’s even a path to becoming an S-rank adventurer. And yet he’s throwing all of that away to fight for the town.

What the hell is this guy!? Is he trying to make cry!? Damn it!

At NaiSe’s instruction, I was put in charge of confirming that the enemy had been completely wiped out.

I left the town alongside Yabe as he set out.

"So, for real, what’s the plan? How exactly are you going to annihilate them? Without leaving a trace... you said."

I tried to probe, but Yabe gave no answer.

Figures he wouldn’t easily reveal his hand.

Since a while ago, carrier pigeons had been flying in one after another to report to Yabe. They seed to be giving him real-ti updates on the enemy’s position. Irina, standing next to him, looked quite tense—her expression was stiff.

But after we started marching for a while, an urgent ssage from a pigeon arrived.

The atmosphere suddenly grew sharp.

"What!?"

Yabe suddenly shouted.

"What’s wrong, Yabe?"

The mood was dangerously serious, so I had no choice but to ask.

"Part of the monster horde... Goblins and Orcs have changed direction and are heading straight for Caso Village. Their numbers are around 2,000."

"Wh-what!?"

That’s bad!

Caso Village is even deeper in the frontier. It doesn’t even have proper fences surrounding it.

At that mont, I felt a massive surge of magical power.

Thuddddd!

Yabe slamd his mage’s staff into the ground with trendous force.

Magical power began swirling around the staff.

"Logan."

Yabe’s voice was heavier than usual.

His usual carefree deanor was completely gone as he gave orders to his contracted beasts, the Wolf Fangs.

Eh...? You’re sending all of them? Hey! Seriously? All of them are going to Caso Village? For real?

After that, no matter what I asked, Yabe only replied, "Yeah."

"...Don’t fuck with ! You’re sending all your contracted beasts away and going alone!? What are you gonna do!? What the hell are you gonna do!? You’ll die! You’re gonna die!"

I snapped.

However, Yabe calmly summoned the four great spirits.

I see! So that’s why he was so composed—he still had the spirits!

Still, he was chatting casually with the spirits even though roughly 8,000 monsters were heading straight for us?

"Well, I’ll manage sohow. I’ll have to use a rather flashy ability. I don’t know what Zoria will think when he sees it, but this is the only way to protect the town."

"...What are you going to do?"

"My appearance will change dramatically. It might look pretty disgusting."

Yabe spoke in a slightly tense voice.

He seed more nervous about his own ability than about the enemy.

Ti for to loosen him up!

"Yabe, don’t worry. No matter what you turn into, we’re friends. Forever!"

Don’t look at like "When did we beco friends?" Yabe. I can’t see your expression under that robe, but I can tell from the vibe.

You don’t seem to have any friends, so I’ll be your friend! No matter what you look like!

Yabe continued his preparations with the help of the spirits.

Co to think of it, people who can wield spirit magic are extrely rare. There are mages and priests, but...

Then Yabe released his power.

"Transform! Sli Body Extra!"

Yabe took off his robe.

His body looked like a greenish mass. What the hell?

It honestly looked like a monster.

Or maybe in that state of pure magical power, he was more like a spirit...?

"Full power! Magical energy! Sli cells, multiply!"

Squirm squirm squirm!

Tentacle-like arms extended from Yabe’s body.

The tentacles swelled up like the thick, muscular arms of a macho man, growing even larger than Yabe’s main body.

Huge tentacles positioned themselves in front of the wall Yabe had created.

I started to slightly regret declaring us friends.

Then Yabe muttered:

"Absorb and digest anything you touch."

The first wave of monsters charged in. A massive horde of Goblins.

"GYEEEEEEH!"

Screams erupted everywhere. Goblins were successively swallowed by the giant tentacles Yabe had prepared.

The tentacles, growing larger as they absorbed their prey, continued to swallow and digest the new waves of Goblins rushing in from behind.

"Th-this is... So that’s why you said you had a plan if they ca straight at us..."

It took a while to process whether the scene in front of was real.

Goblins kept charging forward recklessly from behind, slamming into the giant tentacles one after another and being absorbed.

So this was how he could handle roughly 8,000 enemies by himself.

I had no idea what kind of ability this was, but every ti a Goblin or Orc touched those tentacles, they were absorbed and dissolved.

"Yabe... You’re really gonna completely seal away all 8,000 monsters? I’m grateful, but how the hell am I supposed to explain this to NaiSe?"

This guy is OP as hell!!

He’s seriously going full invincible mode!

Even S-rank adventurers don’t solo 8,000 monsters. What kind of novel bullshit is this!?

What kind of ability is this!?

Can you please explain in more detail!?

BOOM!

What the—!? A group of Ogres and Trolls ca rushing in with terrifying force!

"Tch! The pressure is insane! Everyone, fall back!"

Yabe gave the order.

More monsters were pushing forward from behind because he couldn’t absorb them fast enough.

The earthen wall Yabe created was creaking under the strain.

This scene was pure trauma fuel.

At this rate, we’d be overrun!

That was when—

"Double it!"

The giant tentacles under Yabe’s control suddenly swelled to twice their size.

The now-doubled tentacles leaped upward and rained down from above, enveloping the second and third waves of Ogres and Trolls.

In the end, not a single monster from the Stampede remained. Every last one was absorbed.

"Hahaha... I did it. I actually did it. 8,000 monsters completely sealed! Zero casualties on our side. Damn it, even S-rank adventurers can’t pull this off! There are tis when the violence of numbers really is unstoppable, and yet... Yabe, you’re way too amazing!"

"Zoria, calm down. Your speech is turning into that of a battle maniac."

"Huh? Was it weird?"

I was so excited I didn’t even know what kind of tone I was using. Damn it.

The town was saved from the Stampede. Not a single person was sacrificed! No matter what anyone says, Yabe is the savior of Solonarini Town! A hero!

"Yeah, anyway, calm down. With this, the Stampede has been dealt with. Now take your ti and do the report to NaiSe and the higher-ups."

"Ah, right, there was that..."

My mood instantly dropped. What a pain in the ass.

Besides, there’s no way NaiSe would believe a story like this...

"Actually, that’s supposed to be your real job, isn’t it?"

"No, you showed sothing this insane and now I have to explain it with no details!? Are you seriously okay with not becoming a hero? A recomndation to S-rank isn’t just a dream, you know?"

No matter how I thought about it, I figured it would be better for him to be recognized as a hero and receive a massive reward.

"No, I don’t want any troubleso position like that. I’ll stay F-rank from now on too."

"There’s no way an F-rank like this exists!"

What kind of scam is this!?

I’ve never heard of an F-rank adventurer who can solo 8,000 monsters!

Actually, I’ve never even heard of anyone soloing 8,000 monsters, period!

"No matter what you say, I’m not raising my rank. I won’t take the test either."

"I’ll raise it with Guild Master authority! Fuhahaha!"

"Don’t laugh like an evil governor!"

No matter what he said, I wasn’t about to leave Yabe as an F-rank!

I’ll just raise his rank without permission!

Eventually, after the spirits said sothing to him, Yabe pulled the giant tentacles back into his body.

...And then Yabe grew huge.

What the hell is going on!?

He was easily over 3 ters tall!

While I was panicking, he shrank back down with a shlurp shlurp and returned to his original size.

Irina was clinging to him and crying.

Well, anyway, I was glad he went back to normal size.

There’s no way a 3-ter guy could fit inside the guild building... though that’s not really the point here.

"Hey, hey, Yabe? Logan and the others are worried, so shouldn’t we go check on Caso Village soon?"

One of the spirits said to Yabe.

Right, even though we handled this side, there was still that group heading for Caso Village.

"Alright, let’s head to Caso Village."

Yabe declared.

Alright, I’m coming too!

"Irina, hold on tight."

"Got it!"

Irina clung to the area around the head of the now-green-mass Yabe.

He supported her back with sothing like a tentacle.

"Sylphie, lend your power."

"Yeah! Leave it to , big brother!"

WHOOSH!

Yabe floated up and in an instant beca as small as a speck in the distance.

So fast!

...Ah.

"Wait for ee~!"

I hurriedly jumped on my horse and chased after them.
