Chapter 25—Classes

"Acid Fist," Sli#47 growled as he leapt up and smashed his glowing grey fist into the barrier.

Bam!—Tiny cracks crawled across the barrier’s surface

Thud!—He dropped back to the ground, wobbling slightly.

"Three tis... not bad," he said, grinning.

His mana and aura reserves had clearly gotten bigger—finally sothing decent.

-------

Next day, early morning...

"How strong is this stupid barrier, Elder?" he asked the old sli.

He felt the barrier should be easily breakable, though the sli farm owner would co running, making escape by breaking it useless.

"It’s a very weak barrier artifact, mainly used for beings underlevel 10 like us," the old sli explained, expressing disdain for such a thing.

"I have to continue to gain power from the ritual... Elder," the young muttered bitterly, stressing the power of the armored soldiers and the farm owner.

------

Later, he opened the classsection with a tiny spark of hope—it might finally flip the situation.

’They make training masteries... a little less hellish,’ he grinned.

He’d been annoyed that training masteries was so hard; now classes gave him hope. ’I even unlocked... special classes... it seems masteries are very important,’ he realized, seeing that masteries could unlock more classes.

He clicked on class skills.

’They’re all Uncommon skills...’ He glanced through the descriptions and saw the advantages. He rembered he could train most of these under Elder Sli’s guidance; they weren’t any special, but classes made them costless energy—important.

’Fire Mage,...Let’s go with it’ he decided and tapped on the fire magic class.

He’d wanted to test out the fire mage class, and in the next loop, he will try other classes.

[ Ding! Your class changed to Fire Mage {Common} ]

[ Ding! You have acquired the skill Fire Slash Lv.Max {Uncommon}! ]

’Hah, max level already,’ he grinned—nice freebie.

"Fire Slash." He activated the fire magic rune. A red circle flickered on his tiny palm as a fla shaped like a long blade manifested.

Whoosh!

He launched it at the barrier.

Boom!

The barrier shattered into mirror-like shards and—Gzz!—vanished like burnt paper.

’I... dizzy...damn,’ his vision darkened as his body wobbled with disorientation.

Wob!—He fell into unconsciousness.

-----

Next day...

"You’re finally awake..." Elder Sli sighed in relief.

"What happened?" the young sli asked, wobbling his body to shake off sleepiness.

"You broke the barrier. All four humans ran over and kept watch for the entire day and night. It seems they thought soone tried to sneak in and steal us... but they left this morning," the old sli explained, pointing to spots where wooden chairs had been placed.

"It seems... they beca watchn, huh," Sli#47 grinned, proud that he’d made them suffer a sleepless night.

Imagining the restless humans made him happy, though he felt a ping of sadness that he missedwitnessing the scene.

Thud!—Thud!—Footsteps echoed through the field as the rough man entered.

He placed his palms on the barrier and invoked a magic rune, "YG%&%%."

A barrier appeared and thickened—visible to the eye.

"He reinforced it..." Elder Sli said grimly. "Now, it would take a level 40 or above to break it. It seems these humans paid a heavy price for it."

"Tch!... I shot myself in the foot," he muttered. He felt he shouldn’t have used Fire Slash. He just wanted to check the power of an Uncommon spell.

"You gained a class, didn’t you?" Elder Sli asked, with a small smile. "Can you cast the spell twice?"

"Yeah, I gained a class... but I don’t have the mana to cast it twice," Sli#47 grumbled. "It’s a class skill; that’s why I was able to cast it even once."
