Chapter 121—Looking Back
Silence!
Current Young Sli just stared at the kid plainly.
Future Sli#47 stared back, then said quietly, "Would you change your mind if you knew... Mama Sli and Elder Sli would die again—or rather, they died because of you?"
"What do you an... died?" Present Sli#47 asked flatly. "Even if they die, once the tiline starts, they reset, don’t they?"
Thud!
Future Sli#47 rolled closer to the blue jelly blob and shook his head. "No."
He paused, then sighed deeply. "All tilines are separate worlds—and real."
He continued solemnly, "Those numbers you see when you start a tiline represent a separate world. That number is the ID of that tiline, and you enter each tiline as their hope."
He glanced at Young Sli, whose eyes widened in shock.
"Do you rember Saint King Haruka?" Future Sli#47 asked, voice sharpening as he pointed at Present Young Sli. "How had she held on to hope while passing her last power to you?"
Current Sli#47 jolted upright. "What do you an?"
"Rember how Saint King Haruka felt when she gave you her power?" Future Sli asked.
Present Blue Jelly Blob recalled Haruka’s lost smile—and her hope—as she gave him that power.
"No... no!" he yelled. "Lie! I can rewrite history with the power of the ti loop! She even warned about Hero King Samuel because of it!"
"Rewrite..." Future Sli mocked. "Yes, you rewrite history—but only for yourself."
He pointed at Current Young Sli, whose eyes enlarged in utter shock.
"Saint King Haruka’s fallen body, and that world... tiline 78521452224.23 still exists out there—corrupted by the eldritch."
"What are you saying?!" Blue Sli yelled. His hands trembled. ’It’s fake... he’s lying,’ he told himself. ’This is a trick.’ But he knew his future self wasn’t lying.
"You really think a ti loop is just a reset?" Future Sli stared deeply at him. "I think it’s ti to tell you the truth. It would be too late if you found it yourself."
"What truth?" Current Sli#47 asked, recalling the deaths of Mama Sli, Elder Sli, and countless sli companions—along with his own.
"Ti loop functioning," Future Sli said slowly, "It takes you to the past. But from that past, you create a new tiline. As for the tiline you left behind... it doesn’t wipe out."
Blue Jelly Blob’s body wobbled, "Those tilines..."
"Yes. They still exist," the shadow said bitterly. "You used Saint King Haruka’s power to save yourself... while she hoped you would protect another world. But you failed even that."
"No..." Blue Sli muttered, wobbling nonstop.
Future Sli nodded. "Yes, those worlds are real. In one of those, you even killed Elder Sli and Mama Sli when you got corrupted by the octopus."
Blue Sli stared at his palms, trembling crazily. ’No... no... I thought the world would reset with the ti loop.’
"Rember how Elder Sli gazed at you like a chosen one?" the kid asked quietly. "In those worlds, you failed to protect them..."
"That cannot be true..." Blue Sli barked, voice cracking. ’I failed not once but... almost two hundred tis.’
He rembered Mama Sli’s warm hugs.
Every ti a loop began, he woke in her embrace.
Then Mama Sli’s deaths flashed across his mind—one by one.
Killed by the sli farm kid. Killed by the baron’s soldiers. Killed by the third young lord of the Baron household.
His core ached as he recalled the day he beca a tentacle sli—when he killed Mama Sli and the others.
Then Elder Sli’s deaths played in front of him.
He rembered the old sli running away in fear when he was corrupted—and how Elder Sli had been confident using eldritch rituals.
’Because of ... everyone died multiple tis,’ he recalled resentfully, rembering how they stood before him to buy him ti to escape.
’Not once... but many tis.’ They died before he did in fights against the baron’s soldiers.
"They didn’t even question ," he muttered, eyes wet. They followed his commands with smiles—even when they knew it was guaranteed death.
"You knew you would co back via the loop," Future Sli said sharply. "But they... they just followed you."
"What do I do...?" Blue Sli turned to his future self, tears flowing freely now. He knew his future self wasn’t lying; He knew himself too well.
He had endured everything with the thought, ’I’ll save them in the next loop.’
But the ones he wanted to save were already dead.
"Get stronger," the kid barked. "You can revive them... How?.... A god."
"Yes... god." Current Sli nodded, voice shaking. "Then I can do it?"
"Yes, through ti power, you can enter parallel tilines and revive them," the shadow encouraged. "And rember—from now on, you’re not living not just for yourself, but for the world as well."
He paused, voice heavy. "You are brought as the savior of worlds. Rember: if you die or get corrupted, every world will end up like Saint King Haruka’s."
Blue Jelly nodded heavily.
’I have to save Mama Sli and the others...’ Hope returned—no, responsibility dragged him back up.
He had to resurrect Mama Sli and Elder Sli from those first tilines.
They gave their lives for him. ’It’s my duty to bring them back.’
"Good." The kid nodded, watching his younger self regain resolve.
Then he said solemnly, "Now I’ll tell you what just happened."
Blue Jelly wiped his tears and looked at his future self seriously.
The shadow began, "Your half of the soul, which was—"
"So my soul was suppressed by golden chains... the sealed artifact’s seal," Current Sli#47 muttered grimly.
He was about to ask, "And what about soul—"
But the shadow cut him off, "Your soul essence is leaking through the cracks," he explained. "That’s why you cannot live for much longer."
"Yes... That’s why I’m tired," Current Sli confird. "But I have to repay them."
Shadow nodded, "Good. Rember: you have to learn sealing magic and a passive soul-defense skill—the quicker the better."
He sternly added, "Always reinforce the seal on the sealed artifact once in a while."
"Okay..." Current Sli nodded, setting new goals. "Sealing magic. And a passive soul-defense skill."
"Next, about loops—" Shadow began.
"Every loop is a world," Blue Sli cut in. "So I won’t purposely die."
Shadow’s eyes twitched. "No... It’s not that."
He sighed. "You cannot loop much anyway. It’s not that loops stopped functioning—you can die at mont."
