「Yes, I heard that there are a few Dragonkin tribe mbers who are capable of doing that, but there are not that many of them, since carrying two tower shields at once causes a significant decrease in your attack power.」
So equipping two tower shields at once is possible, huh? The only downside to it would be the forceful change to a super defense-oriented playstyle. That, and there is also a possibility that on the higher floors of the Labyrinths it’s going to be better for situations where you receive too much damage and there’s no ti or opportunity for proper recovery.
「Well, even if that happens, let’s just start with what we can do right now and focus on other things later. Roxanne, can you please guide us to a place with only a few monsters?」
「Yes, master.」
We advance through the tenth floor under Roxanne’s guidance until a monster appears before us: a single NT Ant. I launched a single 「Water Ball」towards it and waited while Vesta was stepping forward.
The NT Ant approaches, and hurls its body at Vesta. Vesta lays her shield down, and receives the attack to her stomach from the side. After confirming that she received the attack, I finish the monster off with another 「Water Ball」.
「How do you feel? Are you alright?」
「Err… Yes, I think I am alright.」
Vesta says while shaking her head in puzzlent.
「Did it hurt?」
「Nope. I am shocked myself because It didn’t hurt at all. It did about sa damage as the Cheep Sheep I fought earlier. Also, I am sorry, I think I blocked so of the damage with the shield sohow.」
「You think? I didn’t see it hitting the shield at all.」
「Yes, it did not touch the shield at all.」
Roxanne confirms that the attack wasn’t blocked by Vesta’s shield. If Roxanne says that, then it is definitely true and I have no reason to doubt her at all.
Even though we advanced from the first floor all the way to the tenth floor, her Job changed from Villager to Dragon Knight, and she has unlocked the 「Damage Reduction」 Skill, too, so I guess such a thing is not impossible.
「In any case. It is good that the damage that you have received was small.」
「Yes, definitely.」
Because she had 「Plating」on, I expected the damage to be minimal to begin with.
「Should I assu there is no problem with the tenth floor? or do you want to try it once more?」
「I think there is no problem.」
Alright. Then let us move on the eleventh floor next.
I doubt that there was really not any problems, so I decided that it would be best for us to move forward with small steps for the ti being.
On the eleventh floor, Roxanne guides us to a place with only one Mino. I shoot it with a Spell, after which Vesta receives the monster’s attack while positioning herself in front of us. When I confird that she has been hit with the Mino’s attack, I then demolish the Mino with the second Spell right after.
「How was it?」
「Yes, I am completely fine, there’s no problems. This ti, I received the attack for sure. To be honest, I fought Minos outside the Labyrinth before, but the attack of this one this ti didn’t feel any different than the attacks of the ones outside.」
「Well, I think there is a difference between the Minos that you fought outside and the one inside the Labyrinth, but more importantly, are you really fine?」
Sherry butts in. There is indeed a difference between the attack power of a Lv.1 monster outside of the Labyrinth and a Lv.11 monster inside of it. But now Vesta’s level has increased, and there is the effect of 「Damage Reduction」and 「Plating」to consider as well.
I shouldn’t have been worried about her at all.
「In any case, it is alright.」
「Both of them didn’t hurt that much, so there really is no difference.」
It didn’t hurt that much? I can easily afford to move further up the floors of the Labyrinth, if that is indeed the case.
「She didn’t get hurt, at all?」
「Hmm… as for , the attacks I received from the monsters inside the Labyrinth were quite stronger than the attacks from the monsters outside of it.」
Sherry looks at Roxanne as if she wanted to call her up for help, but Roxanne simply shakes her head in puzzlent.
You chose the wrong person to ask for help, Sherry.
In Roxanne’s case, however, it is more surprising that she even received a monster’s attack outside the Labyrinth. With her superior evasion, I never thought that such a thing would even be possible.
「Then, let’s try moving to the twelfth floor next.」
The monsters on the twelfth floor should be stronger than the ones from the floors below them, so even Vesta should feel sothing when she gets attacked by them.
And of course, since the enemies on the twelfth floor might still be able to inflict poison on us if they manage to hit us, we absolutely cannot forget about Anti-Poison Pills so that the girls could give them to mouth-to-mouth in case of ergencies.
「Err…. like the Mino from before, there is hardly any damage. I can still afford t take so more of it.」
Even so, Vesta still claid that the damage she has received from fighting against a Grass Bee was nothing at all, which made feel sowhat impressed while ignoring Sherry who was muttering things like 「Even though it was just a Grass Bee.」.
Leaving Sherry alone with her thoughts for a while, I started thinking if it was still because the difference in strength between the monsters from eleventh and twelfth floors has been offset by 「Plating」once again?
「Should we go to the thirteenth floor next, or do you perhaps want to try going a little bit higher?」
「I think it should be okay for us to try going to the higher floors.」
Are we really going? Well, it seems like everyone is in favor of doing that, so looks like we’re going higher. The question now is: to which floor should we go, exactly? We might go and skip just one floor and go from the twelfth floor to the fourteenth floor? We might go all the way to the eighteenth floor, but I feel like that might be a little bit too much, so in light of that we should go to the fifteenth floor, which should be perfectly halfway between the twelfth floor and the eighteenth floor.
I proposed such a scenario to the girls, but then…
「That would definitely be reasonable, but aside for the Floor Bosses pretty much everything is going to be small fries to us now, so if we want to have a proper challenge, then we should definitely go to the eighteenth floor.」
Roxanne makes a genuinely terrible proposal. My only hope now is that the other girls are going to hold her ambitions down so that we won’t actually have to go to the eighteenth floor…
「I think that we should go to the eighteenth floor as well.」
But then even Vesta spoke up in favor of that idea. It’s good that she has the courage to continue challenging herself like that, but on the other hand, there is such a thing as being too courageous, you know?
Besides, on the eighteenth floor there’s going to be more enemies that are going to be fighting against us, and going at them one by one might just prove to be too tiring in the long run. And there’s also another problem.
I don’t want to fight enemies over and over again. Or more specifically, I don’t want to get attacked by them over and over again.
That is essentially how it goes pretty much every ti when we manage to defeat a Floor Boss and advance to another level. I hate being attacked, and I hate to see any of my Party mbers getting attacked, so even if I know that it is going to be done in order for Vesta to check her 「Damage Reduction」Skill for security reasons, I just cannot allow her to be willingly attacked by monsters so many tis.
「Vesta is saying that she wants to go to the highest floor that we have explored, but do you really feel like you’ll be fine in there?」
「Yes, I think I will be fine.」
