Ethan Yardley’s eyes were crimson, threaded with blood.

He stared coldly at the defiant woman before him, so overco with rage he looked ready to eat her alive.

He rose to his feet and, without a word, strode forward, grabbed Serena Yardley’s hand, and dragged her upstairs.

Caught off guard, Serena Yardley stumbled to keep up.

Ethan Yardley threw her into the room, forced her face-down onto the bed, and brought his hand down hard across her bottom.

"I’ll teach you to run away! I told you I’d break your legs if you dared to try it."

He was genuinely furious.

He’d spent the entire night sick with worry.

Worried she’d gotten into an accident, worried she’d never co back, worried she’d disappear forever.

If he didn’t teach her a harsh lesson right now, nothing would quell the rage boiling inside him.

Lying face-down on the bed, Serena Yardley cried out as a fiery pain radiated from her stinging bottom.

"What’s wrong with leaving? I signed the Divorce Agreent. We’re already divorced, so why won’t you let go?"

She cried out from the bed, "Go on and hit ! Just beat to death! That way, I won’t owe you anything anymore."

"You still dare to talk back?"

In that mont, Ethan Yardley showed no rcy, raising his hand to strike her bottom again.

"Did I agree to the divorce? Did I say you could leave? Serena Yardley, I’m the one who rescued you from human traffickers. I’m in charge of your life, and if you dare run away without my permission, this is what happens."

He didn’t hold back.

He landed two more hard slaps on her bottom.

The pain made Serena Yardley’s tears stream down her face. She sobbed, her entire body trembling.

"Ethan Yardley, you’re not my elder! What right do you have to hit like this? I’m going to report you for dostic abuse! I’ll have you thrown in jail!"

She was delirious with anger and pain, feeling as if her bottom had been split into pieces.

Ethan Yardley gritted his teeth, ready to strike again, but the sight of her small, trembling body made him stop. His face pale with fury, he threw out a final command:

"You’d better think long and hard about what you’ve done. You’re not to take a single step out of this house until school starts."

He slamd the door on his way out but stopped in the hallway, taking a mont to regain his composure before heading downstairs.

Upon seeing Mrs. Miller, Ethan Yardley ordered coldly, "Go buy so topical ointnt for swelling and pain."

Mrs. Miller knew Miss Serena had probably been hit. ’It’s wrong for a man to strike a woman,’ she thought, but as a servant, she didn’t dare say more and quickly went to buy the ointnt.

When Ethan Yardley sat down in the living room, Yannick Young imdiately stepped forward to report:

"President, when I found Miss Serena, a group of well-trained n in black suddenly appeared and blocked us. I don’t know what their intentions were."

Ethan Yardley’s gaze fell coldly on Yannick Young. Noticing his subordinate was injured, he snapped, "Then what are you still doing here? Do you expect to investigate it?"

Yannick Young hastily replied, "Yes, sir. I’ll look into it imdiately."

Ethan Yardley was left alone in the living room.

He looked down at his hands, thinking of how he’d impulsively hit that girl’s bottom, and how hard he’d been. In a fit of regret, he slamd his palm onto the coffee table.

’She’s so thin and frail,’ he thought. ’How could she possibly withstand those slaps?’

’If he’d seriously injured her, he would be the one to feel the most pain.’

...

Mrs. Miller returned quickly with the ointnt. Ethan Yardley wanted to take it up and apply it for Serena Yardley himself, but he was too proud to do so.

In the end, he instructed Mrs. Miller, "You go apply it for her. Then ask her what she’d like to eat and make it."

Mrs. Miller nodded. "Very well."

Sotis, Mrs. Miller just couldn’t understand the master’s ways.

’He clearly dotes on Miss Serena, yet he brings other won ho.’

’He clearly feels pained for Miss Serena, yet he still raises a hand to her.’

’How could the man be so full of contradictions?’

...

Serena Yardley lay on the bed, her bottom throbbing with so much pain that she didn’t dare move.

’She couldn’t believe Ethan had actually hit her.’

’He must not love her at all,’ she thought. ’Otherwise, why would he have been so vicious?’

’They say a man who hits a woman is no good, which ans Ethan is definitely not a good man.’

’He’s abusive, having an emotional affair, and always yelling at . I don’t want a man like that anymore.’

’From now on, I’m never going to like him again.’

But the thought only made her feel more aggrieved, and Serena Yardley lay there, continuing to sob.

When Mrs. Miller ca in with the ointnt, she saw Serena Yardley lying on the bed. Not seeing any obvious injuries, she asked curiously,

"Miss Serena, where did the master hit you? Let apply so ointnt for you."

Serena Yardley looked at Mrs. Miller through tear-filled eyes and refused. "I don’t want it. Mrs. Miller, don’t worry about . It would be better if I just died."

Mrs. Miller continued to coax her patiently. "The master really does care about you. He sat in the living room all night waiting for you after you left last night.

He was probably just afraid you’d left and weren’t coming back, and that’s why he struck you in a fit of passion. Quick, let see where you’re hurt."

Serena Yardley pointed to her bottom.

"He hit here. See for yourself how bad it is. How could a man who could be so cruel possibly have any room for in his heart?"

Serena Yardley looked back at Mrs. Miller and asked tearfully,

"Mrs. Miller, if I take a photo of this as evidence of his abuse, can I sue for divorce?"

Mrs. Miller pulled down Serena Yardley’s pants slightly. Seeing the red, swollen marks on her fair skin, she began to apply the ointnt as she asked,

"Is this the only place he hit you?"

"Where else? Did you want him to hit sowhere else?"

Mrs. Miller chuckled. "Well, this isn’t so bad. He hit your bottom, which shows he was just disciplining you for being disobedient. As long as he didn’t hit you anywhere else, it’s fine."

Serena Yardley was not convinced. "Hitting my bottom is still hitting, isn’t it? In any case, I’m injured, so I’m going to sue him for dostic abuse."

’That bastard hit . He just wait. I’ll get him back for this soday.’

Mrs. Miller continued to smile. "The master didn’t hit you that hard. You’ll be fine after resting for a couple of days. As for suing him for abuse, could you really bear to take the master to court?"

Full of resentnt, Serena Yardley replied, "Why wouldn’t I? He had the heart to hit , so of course I’m going to make him suffer a little, too."

Mrs. Miller shook her head helplessly, not wanting to get involved in the young couple’s affairs.

After finishing with the ointnt, she stood and asked, "What would you like to eat, Miss Serena? I’ll bring it up for you."

Serena Yardley lay there motionlessly and said petulantly, "I’m not eating anything. I’m going on a hunger strike."

"All right, then. You get so rest."

Mrs. Miller thought Serena Yardley was just being dramatic about the hunger strike.

But when she brought food upstairs later, Serena Yardley truly wouldn’t eat.

She still refused to eat at dinnerti.

In the middle of the night, Ethan Yardley couldn’t take it anymore and brought a tray of food to the room himself.

Standing over the bed, the man looked down at Serena Yardley and commanded, "Get up and eat."

Serena Yardley didn’t even spare him a glance, remaining motionless where she lay.

Ethan Yardley snapped again, "Can’t you understand ?"

Serena Yardley turned to glare at him, her eyes red-rimd as she cried out in frustration,

"I’m not eating! I’ll just starve to death in here! Why are you allowed to hold other won and go live with them, but I’m not allowed to leave?

You’re such a hypocrite, Ethan Yardley! I’m going to sue you for dostic abuse! And another thing—you’re not divorcing . I’m divorcing you!"
