’Bringing up divorce right now would be too cruel. I’ll just have to tell her the truth later.’

Unwilling to explain further, Ethan Yardley turned and said curtly, "Get ready and co downstairs for dinner."

Even his attitude toward her had grown much colder.

As Serena Yardley watched her husband walk out of the room, a sharp, inexplicable pain pierced her heart.

’What’s with this attitude?’

’He was never like this with before.’

For so reason, she was suddenly struck by an ominous premonition.

It felt as if she was about to lose sothing precious, and a sudden, unbearable sadness washed over her.

Unwilling to go downstairs for dinner, and even more unwilling to see another woman in her own ho, Serena Yardley flopped back onto the large bed and lay motionless.

Ethan Yardley sat alone in the dining room downstairs.

After waiting for a long ti without seeing his wife co downstairs, his expression turned grim. He gestured to Mrs. Miller. "Go call her. If she doesn’t co down to eat, then she can forget about eating today."

Mrs. Miller hurried upstairs to the room.

Seeing Miss Serena lying on the large bed, she walked over and spoke softly:

"Miss Serena, Mr. Yardley is calling you down for dinner. Please get up, or he’s going to get angry."

Hearing this only made Serena Yardley angrier.

She sat up and looked at Mrs. Miller.

"I’m not the one who should be angry, so what right does he have to be? I refuse to eat at the sa table as another woman."

Her sixth sense told her that woman was definitely not just an ordinary friend of her husband’s.

’The two of them were in the study with the door closed. A man and a woman, all alone... who knows what they were talking about.’

’And my husband... not only did he not bother to explain things clearly, but he had the nerve to get angry with .’

’By what right?’

Mrs. Miller said in a low voice,

"That woman has already left. Only Mr. Yardley is downstairs. Go on, keep him company for dinner!

You miss him every day when he’s away, so why are you throwing a tantrum now that he’s back?"

’This young lady of the house really is just like a child.’

’It was a good thing their Mr. Yardley was so tolerant and doting. If she had married anyone else, she certainly wouldn’t be so fortunate.’

"She left?"

Serena Yardley was a little surprised. She stared at Mrs. Miller and asked,

"She really left? My husband didn’t ask her to stay for dinner? Mrs. Miller, do you know what their relationship is? Why would he bring her to our house?"

Mrs. Miller shook her head and said,

"I’m not too clear on Mr. Yardley’s relationship with that woman, but he’s a man of good character. He wouldn’t marry you and still be thinking about soone else, would he?"

"If you have questions, why don’t you just ask Mr. Yardley yourself?"

’I’m just a servant, how could I know so much?’

Serena Yardley agreed. She had to go ask her husband and get a clear answer.

She quickly hid the pregnancy report and scurried downstairs.

Seeing that there were indeed no strangers in the dining room, she walked over with her head down, pulled out a chair, and sat down, surreptitiously glancing at the older man beside her.

Seeing his long face, she grew even more irritated. She started poking the rice in her bowl with her chopsticks, angrily grinding her molars.

Her round, fair, and delicate little face was contorted into a ferocious scowl.

Ethan Yardley turned his head to look at her.

Seeing his young wife making funny faces again, he couldn’t resist reaching out to pinch her cute, puffed-up cheeks, chiding her,

"If you’re going to eat, then eat. Stop playing with your food. Eat properly."

Serena Yardley slapped his hand away and said unhappily,

"I feel like sothing’s on your mind. You’ve been different ever since you ca back this ti. Can’t you just be straight with ?"

She turned to look at him, her eyes filled with innocence.

Ethan Yardley looked back at her.

Sotis he truly felt this girl was like a work of art, just so beautiful.

She was so small, and she slled so sweet when he held her in his arms.

But he would eventually have to let such a wonderful girl go.

"What could I possibly have on my mind? Just eat."

Averting his gaze, Ethan Yardley sat there, eating with perfect composure.

His every move seed deliberately practiced—elegant and poised, exuding charisma from head to toe.

Serena Yardley couldn’t deny it; she was hopelessly in love with this older man.

So much so that a single, slightly gentle word from him was enough to make her forget all about the woman from before, and she quickly buried her head in her bowl and ate.

Ethan Yardley even thoughtfully placed so food on her plate, adding with concern,

"Eat slowly, don’t choke."

"Mm-hmm."

Serena Yardley looked up, her smile as lovely as a blooming flower.

After dinner, she went right back to her habit of clinging to her husband.

Ethan Yardley had never minded his young wife’s closeness; he always reciprocated when she was being affectionate.

He held her on his lap, and after they cuddled for a while on the living room sofa, he personally carried her upstairs to the bathroom.

Serena Yardley knew her husband had a strong libido.

Every ti he ca back from a business trip, he would coax her into bed and they would go for a long ti.

So, when he carried her into the bathroom now, his intentions were obvious.

But the mont she rembered she was pregnant, just as her husband sat her on the bathroom counter and began to kiss her, she quickly raised a hand to stop him.

"I—I just took a shower a little while ago. You can wash up by yourself."

She hopped off the counter, ready to make a quick getaway.

But the older man caught her arm, his eyes full of desire. "Wash again. I’ll help you."

Serena Yardley still refused, forcefully yanking his hand away.

"No, I don’t want to. You wash up by yourself. I’ll wait for you in bed."

With that, she slipped out of the bathroom.

Ethan Yardley was never one to force soone against their will.

Especially since his wife was a good ten years younger than him.

Most of the ti, he chose to respect her wishes.

Since she was unwilling now, he didn’t push it and began to take a proper shower by himself.

Back in the bedroom, Serena Yardley thought of the pregnancy report hidden in the closet. She was once again torn about whether or not to tell her husband.

’Maybe I should just tell him?’

After hesitating for a long while, she stood up to get the pregnancy report when Mrs. Miller’s voice suddenly ca from the doorway.

"Is Mr. Yardley there?"

Serena Yardley walked over. "What is it?"

Mrs. Miller handed her a phone. "This is Mr. Yardley’s phone; he left it on the dining table. It keeps ringing. Could you give it to him?"

"Oh."

As Serena Yardley took it, the phone was still ringing.

The na ’Sylvia Schuyler’ flashing on the screen instantly made her face fall.

’She’d played gas on her husband’s phone before and even looked through his contacts. There was no one nad Sylvia Schuyler in there!’

’So who on earth was this Sylvia Schuyler?’

When the ringing stopped, Serena Yardley sat back down on the bed, phone in hand.

Before she could think any further, she saw her husband walk out with a bath towel wrapped around his waist.

Just then, the phone in her hand rang again.

Serena Yardley subconsciously stood up and handed the phone to Ethan Yardley.

"Ethan, it’s for you."

Ethan Yardley took it and glanced at the screen. Though his expression soured, he didn’t try to hide it and answered the call directly.

Serena Yardley desperately wanted to know who this Sylvia Schuyler person was.

She quietly sidled up to the older man, standing on her tiptoes to eavesdrop on the call.

Ethan Yardley saw what the young woman beside him was doing but didn’t push her away.

A mont later, a woman’s sweet, delicate voice ca through the earpiece.

"Ethan, can you co over to my place right now? I sprained my ankle. It hurts so much, I can’t move."
