’Help her?’

Serena Yardley quickly wiped the tears from her cheeks, turned to stare resentfully at the man on the steps, and shouted:

"Does helping her an you have to hold her so tight? Does it an you have to kiss her?"

"You clearly have feelings for her, Ethan! If you just admitted you like pretty won, no one would think you’re a jerk, because that’s just how you n are.

You just like her, otherwise you wouldn’t have brought her back here. This is our marital ho, the one you bought for ! Do you get so kind of thrill from doing those things with another woman in your own marital ho?"

"Serena Yardley."

Ethan Yardley cut her off sharply. "It seems you never learn your lesson. Since you love throwing tantrums so much, then leave. And once you’re gone, don’t you dare co back."

He was truly angry now, his aura terrifying.

Just now, Sylvia Schuyler had been about to fall, and he had simply caught her to steady her.

’How did that turn into a kiss in her telling of it?’

’Why am I keeping such an unreasonable woman around? Just to make my life miserable?’

Serena Yardley felt an agonizing tightness in her chest, as if she were suffocating.

She could barely breathe, and on the verge of breaking down, she felt as if the entire world was abandoning her.

She sniffled, looking up at the high and mighty man before her with tear-filled eyes, and replied in despair:

"Fine, I’ll leave. It’s not like you need the baby anymore, and you certainly don’t need , the useless tool who just gets in the way. I’ll make room for the two of you. I’ll just go."

Tears blurred her vision, but they couldn’t stop her resolve to leave.

She turned, ran out of the courtyard, and vanished from Ethan Yardley’s cold gaze.

Ethan Yardley raised a hand, wanting to call her back, but his pride held him back. In the end, he didn’t give in.

Overco with frustration, he slamd his fist hard against the nearby wall.

After a mont, he looked again in the direction Serena had disappeared and took out his phone to call his special assistant.

The assistant answered imdiately. "Sir."

"Go find Serena. Give her so money and keep a close eye on her."

"Yes, sir."

After hanging up, Ethan Yardley finally returned to the living room.

Sylvia Schuyler was sitting on the sofa. She had clearly heard the loud argunt between the two at the door.

A smug smile touched her lips, her eyes filled with arrogance.

’A naive college student trying to fight for a man? She’s still far too inexperienced for that.’

Ethan Yardley sat down beside Sylvia Schuyler and said in a low voice, "Do you have to stay here?"

He knew this was the marital ho he had bought for Serena, and it wasn’t appropriate for another woman to live here.

But Sylvia Schuyler started to cry. "Ethan, am I making things difficult for you?

I only ca back here because I wanted to get along with Serena Yardley. If you think I shouldn’t stay, then I’ll leave."

She pretended to get up, fumbling as she walked and bumping into the coffee table in front of her.

Seeing she was about to trip over the coffee table again, Ethan Yardley quickly reached out, helped her sit back down, and said, "Alright, it’s the sa no matter where you are. Just stay here."

"Ethan, do you really like Serena Yardley that much? So much that you can’t bear to be apart from her, to divorce her?"

Ethan Yardley was silent.

He couldn’t deny that Serena indeed held a very important place in his heart.

But her immaturity and unreasonable tantrums were utterly exhausting.

He leaned forward, resting his arms on his knees and burying his head in his hands, frustrated and unsure how to deal with the two won in his life.

Sylvia Schuyler, feigning empathy, began to cry again.

"Ethan, it’s all my fault. If I hadn’t lost my ability to be a mother, if I weren’t so unwanted, I never would have co to you and ruined your marriage.

It’s all my fault that I accidentally ran into the front of your car back then, causing you to..."

"Sylvia, don’t say any more," Ethan cut her off. "It was my fault. I said I’d take responsibility for you, and I will."

As if he had suddenly made up his mind, Ethan Yardley took out the Divorce Agreent he had prepared long ago from a drawer and said in a heavy voice:

"I will divorce her as soon as possible."

’Since we’re going to divorce sooner or later, it’s better to get it over with quickly.’

’Dragging this out won’t do anyone any good.’

Sylvia Schuyler looked at the Divorce Agreent Ethan Yardley had taken out, clearly overjoyed.

’Looks like I won’t have to wait another two years after all.’

’In a few days, I might just beco Mrs. Yardley.’

...

Serena Yardley wandered aimlessly down the street. Her tears had run dry, and her heart was numb with pain.

In a daze, she recalled the first ti she had t him.

She was only five years old at the ti.

After being sold and resold several tis by human traffickers, she had finally managed to escape.

But she was discovered. The traffickers chased her from behind, and she ran for her life.

When she couldn’t run anymore, she saw a black sedan parked on the side of the road and pounded on the car window, shouting, "Help ! Please, help !"

She never expected the window to roll down, revealing a clean-cut, refined-looking teenager inside.

Ethan Yardley was only fifteen at the ti, but he was already 180 cm tall and looked so mature that to her, he was an ’uncle’.

Back then, Serena Yardley didn’t even have a na. Everyone just called her ’little girl’.

After he rescued her, he gave her a na: Serena. Serena Yardley.

From then on, Serena Yardley had a na, and a light in her life to illuminate her path forward.

Even though she grew up in an orphanage, she was luckier than most orphans. He not only saved her and bought her new clothes, but he also sponsored her education.

At fifteen, she experienced the first stirrings of love and fell for him.

Six months ago, to show her gratitude for his kindness over the years, she specifically invited him to dinner.

During the al, Ethan got a call from his family, nagging him to go on a blind date. Seeing how troubled he was, Serena Yardley bravely volunteered:

"Ethan, if you don’t have anyone you like, why don’t we get into a sham marriage to deal with your family?

Don’t worry, I just want to help you. If..."

The dapper man sitting across from her looked at her and asked without hesitation, "Are you sure?"

Serena Yardley froze for a second, then nodded quickly. "Yes, I’m sure."

"Then I’ll see you at the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow."

At the ti, Serena Yardley thought she had misheard him. It wasn’t until the next day, when she walked out of the Civil Affairs Bureau with him, marriage certificate in hand, that she finally ca to her senses.

She had really married the man she loved.

Her dream had co true.

But that dream shattered just as quickly.

Serena Yardley stopped walking and looked up as night fell. She felt as though her own world, like the sky, was being crushed by a heavy darkness, with no light in sight.

That night, she checked into a hotel.

His assistant, Yannick Young, saw that she wasn’t in any trouble and didn’t reveal himself or disturb her.

The next day, Serena Yardley woke up in the large hotel bed. She had just finished washing up when she received a call from Ethan Yardley himself.

Seeing his na on her phone, Serena Yardley felt a sharp pain in her heart, as if pricked by a needle.

She knew her own temperant well. No matter how angry she got, no matter how much she fought with him, she still loved him deeply.

Serena Yardley thought to herself, ’If this call from him is to coax , to ask to co ho, then I’ll go back.’

’I refuse to let that woman take my place.’

She summoned her courage and answered the call.

On the other end, the man’s voice was cold and clear. "Where are you?"

Serena Yardley blinked, her voice laced with grievance as she ekly replied, "A hotel."

"Are you coming back to sign the papers, or should I have soone bring them to you?"

Hearing this, Serena Yardley’s heart sank. "Wh-what papers?"

"The Divorce Agreent. Let’s get a divorce."
