Serena Yardley changed into the blue dress with its cutout design and erged gracefully.

Even though she wore flats, the form-fitting dress still accentuated her innate nobility and grace.

Combined with her beautiful features, she looked every bit a lofty princess. The mont she stood there, her powerful aura was palpable.

The mont Vivian Lynch saw her, her expression changed drastically.

She subconsciously turned to leave, but Serena Yardley called out coldly, "Stop."

Vivian Lynch froze and had to nod, calling out, "Se... Serena..."

She didn’t dare call her "Miss," because that would be too humiliating.

But Serena Yardley showed her no rcy, her voice cold. "What did you just call ?"

Even though Vivian Lynch had taken ten million from Ethan Yardley, the condition was that she stay away from Mr. Yardley.

If Serena Yardley went back and told Mr. Yardley she hadn’t left, he would surely not let her off.

Genuinely terrified now, she quickly bowed her head and ekly called out, "Miss Serena."

"Vivian, what did you call her? You know her?"

Vivian Lynch’s friend looked completely baffled.

Nina Thorne was also curious and looked at Serena Yardley. "Serena, you know her?"

Serena Yardley said, "She’s Mrs. Miller’s daughter. My husband arranged for her to be my study companion."

Hearing this, Vivian Lynch’s friend blurted out, "So she’s just a servant?"

"Hah! A housekeeper’s daughter. And here I thought she was so rich heiress, acting all high and mighty."

Nina Thorne smiled, clearly enjoying the drama.

Serena Yardley took a step forward, eyeing Vivian Lynch’s designer clothes. "Where did you get so much money?"

Vivian Lynch didn’t dare lift her head, and her voice started to stutter. "I... I got a rich boyfriend. He gave it to ."

She rembered clearly that Mr. Yardley had warned her not to ntion what happened that night, or there would be consequences.

Nothing had actually happened between her and Mr. Yardley that night, but if she angered him now, her fate would surely be miserable.

"So you got a rich boyfriend and just quit your job?"

Serena Yardley demanded.

Vivian Lynch quickly added, her voice timid:

"I’m sorry, Miss Serena. I just felt you didn’t need , so I resigned. If there’s nothing else, may I leave now?"

’I have to hide, quickly.’

’If Mr. Yardley finds out I haven’t left, he’ll co after , won’t he?’

"It’s better to keep a low profile in the future. There’s always a bigger fish. Don’t shoot yourself in the foot."

"Yes, Miss Serena. You’re right."

For so reason, Vivian Lynch always felt inferior in front of Serena Yardley, so she didn’t even dare to look up when speaking to her.

Serena Yardley didn’t want to waste any more ti on soone like her and tossed out, "You can disappear now."

As Vivian Lynch lifted her head and turned to leave, she saw the sales assistants staring at her with strange looks.

There was ridicule, contempt, and sarcasm in their eyes.

Basically, they were looking down on her.

Utterly humiliated, she walked away as fast as she could.

Her friend beside her was also making sarcastic, passive-aggressive comnts.

But she didn’t care. She just had to disappear, and fast.

After watching Vivian Lynch leave, Nina Thorne smiled at Serena Yardley. "Serena, you can be quite the badass sotis."

’I’m just too lazy to bicker with little girls. Otherwise, as a lady of the Thorne Family, I’m not soone to be trifled with either.’

Serena Yardley laughed along, a bit smug. "Ethan Yardley gives the courage."

Then, her gaze swept over the surrounding sales assistants, her expression instantly turning cold as she scolded, "Is this how you treat your custors?"

The sales assistants still didn’t know Serena Yardley’s identity, but after hearing what she’d just said, they didn’t dare to be disrespectful.

"We’re very sorry. It was our dereliction of duty. May I ask who you are...?"

"You’re not worthy of knowing who I am. Just ring it up."

Nina Thorne handed them Ethan Yardley’s black card.

The mont the sales assistant saw it was the CEO’s exclusive black card, they hurriedly took it and said respectfully:

"I’m so sorry, we were blind. We hope you two ladies can be magnanimous and not hold it against us."

"Don’t let there be a next ti. If I co for an inspection and see this happen again, you’re all fired."

Serena Yardley put on a lofty air, exuding the authority of a boss’s wife.

The sales assistants all bowed in unison. "Yes, yes, Miss."

After paying, Serena Yardley left the store with Nina Thorne, still wearing the new dress.

Several sales assistants even lined up at the entrance to see them off. "Please co again, ladies."

Once they were far from the store, Serena Yardley’s deanor softened as she asked Nina with a smile, "Nina, was I badass just now?"

"Mhm, very badass. Anyone who didn’t know better would think you’re a little porcupine."

’I never would have expected this from her.’

Nina Thorne had always thought Serena was fragile and pitiable, and sotis cried a lot.

But when push ca to shove, she was calm, collected, and decisive.

She was truly impressed.

"Hehe, I have my principles. In this world, only Ethan Yardley can bully . If anyone else hurts even a little, I’ll pay them back a hundredfold."

Serena Yardley gave a sly smile, a hint of ruthlessness in her eyes.

Nina Thorne looked at her. "Why do you let Ethan Yardley bully you?"

"Because I love him, duh. Sotis I can let him have his way."

"PFFT—"

Nina Thorne sighed. "The way you talk makes Ethan Yardley sound like the timid little wife."

Serena Yardley didn’t reply, simply pulling Nina along to continue their shopping spree throughout the mall.

When they got tired of shopping, they went to see a movie.

In the afternoon, the two of them went to the kindergarten to pick up Leo Thorne.

By the ti Serena Yardley returned ho, it was seven in the evening.

The mont she walked in the door, she saw the man sitting in the living room.

Carrying several bags, she walked over and called out, "Ethan..."

Ethan Yardley looked up at her. "You’re back."

"Mhm, I bought you a tie and a lapel pin for your suit."

As she spoke, Serena Yardley placed the bags on the coffee table, took out a small box, opened it, and presented the pin to him.

She smiled. "Do you like it?"

Ethan Yardley squinted at it and nodded. "Yes, I like it."

"And this tie, do you like it?"

Ethan Yardley nodded again. "I like it."

He moved his laptop aside, pulled her down to sit beside him, lifted her little foot, took off her shoe, and started massaging her feet.

"Tired from shopping all day?"

Serena Yardley shook her head. "Not tired. We even saw a movie."

Then, rembering sothing, she asked, "Ethan, you know that Vivian Lynch isn’t working for anymore, right?"

’I have to make it clear. If that woman gets into any trouble out there in the future, it can’t be blad on .’

’After all, she was basically fired.’

Hearing Vivian Lynch’s na, Ethan Yardley’s expression flickered. He guiltily lowered his gaze and grunted, "Mhm."

Serena Yardley continued:

"As long as you know. And don’t arrange any more ’study companions’ for in the future. As long as you don’t make angry, I’ll co ho every day."

Ethan Yardley...

It seed he still couldn’t forget the despicable thing he had done.

He let go of Serena’s foot, his gaze flickering. "I’m going to go wash my face."

"Oh."

Serena Yardley watched him leave without thinking much of it.

During dinner, she found it strange that the man across from her kept his head down and didn’t say a word.

"Ethan, are you still feeling nauseous?"

Ethan Yardley replied casually, "It’s fine. It’s not as bad anymore."

"Do you know what’s causing this reaction of yours?"

Ethan Yardley nodded. "I know. Couvade syndro."

He had told Quinn Gardner about it later, and only knew because Quinn explained it to him.

Serena Yardley smiled. "I think it’s quite fair. I’m pregnant, and you get the morning sickness. It lets you experience a taste of what won go through during childbirth, so you’ll know it’s not easy for us."

Serena Yardley felt a little smug and lowered her head to eat.

After a couple of bites, she noticed the man opposite her still hadn’t looked up. She wasn’t sure if he was even listening; his behavior was just so strange.

"Ethan..."

"Serena..."

They both spoke at the sa ti.

Serena Yardley imdiately gestured, "You first."

"No, you go ahead."

"I don’t have anything to say. I was just going to ask if sothing was on your mind. You look preoccupied."

Ethan Yardley’s gaze flickered again. He said in a low voice, "I have to go on a business trip tomorrow. I might be gone for a few days."

Serena Yardley looked completely unconcerned. "A business trip? It’s not like I won’t let you go."

"Okay. If you get bored, go find Nina Thorne. Call if you need anything."

"Okay."

Serena Yardley was very understanding. She was also thinking that after reconciling this ti, she would strive to be a good wife.

That night, she went back to the room early to make the bed.

Suddenly, she noticed that her large bed seed to have been replaced.

’When did they change it? Why didn’t I know?’

Curious, Serena Yardley went to the study, pushed the door open gently, and cautiously began, "Ethan."

"Hmm?"

Ethan Yardley stopped his work and turned to look at her.

Serena Yardley approached him. "Did you have soone change the bed in the master bedroom? Why change it? I thought the old one was really comfortable."

Ethan Yardley avoided her gaze, pretending to be busy with his work.

"It’s a newly developed smart bed. I was thinking that since you’re pregnant, you need to rest well, so I had it changed to a smart bed to help you sleep more soundly."

Serena Yardley believed him. "Oh, I see. Well, it’s ten o’clock now. Can we go back to the room and sleep?"

She hugged his arm, acting cute.

’As he was now, Ethan felt that just walking into that room would fill him with a sense of guilt.’

He remained seated, not moving. He didn’t pull her onto his lap and hold her like he used to.

He looked at her and said, "Serena, how about we move? We could live in the apartnt closer to your university."

Serena Yardley was confused. "But it’s nice here. Besides, if we move, what about Nina and the others? They only moved over here because of ."

"I could buy them a place over there, too?"

"Why? You’re being so strange. Changing the bed was one thing, but now you want to move? Is it not comfortable living here?"
