The Sovereign Villa.

Vivian Lynch ca over to bring her mother so dicine, and to dig up so information to pass on to Miss Schuyler abroad.

Seeing that neither Mr. Yardley nor Serena Yardley were ho so late at night, she asked her mother curiously,

"Mom, where are they? Are they not coming ho tonight?"

Mrs. Miller was getting the bed ready to rest.

As she worked, she sighed. "Miss Serena fainted, so Mr. Yardley took her to the hospital."

"What? Is there sothing wrong with Serena Yardley? Why did she faint?"

Having spent so ti at Yardley Manor, she had learned about the mbers of the Yardley Family.

The Yardley Family had only had one male heir for generations, so Master Yardley was desperate for a great-grandson. She’d heard from so of her colleagues that they had once overheard Master Yardley talking to Serena Yardley.

As long as Serena Yardley gave birth to a child, Master Yardley would give her a hundred million as a reward.

Vivian Lynch had been shocked at the ti. A hundred million! That was more money than she could earn in several lifetis.

’How did Serena Yardley get so lucky, becoming the young madam of the Yardley Family?’

’If only I could be the one to give the Yardley Family a child. That would be incredible.’

One child could change her entire life, allowing her to soar from rags to riches.

The more Vivian Lynch thought about it, the greedier she beca, impulsively wanting to do sothing to change her current situation.

Mrs. Miller got into bed and gestured for her daughter to sleep beside her.

"Miss Serena just recovered from a serious illness not long ago. I think it’s because she’s pregnant now, so her constitution is a bit weak. I’m not sure about the exact reason she fainted."

Vivian Lynch was stunned. "What did you say? Serena Yardley is pregnant?"

Mrs. Miller glanced at her daughter. "What’s with that look? Miss Serena and Mr. Yardley have been married for almost a year. Isn’t it normal for her to get pregnant?

You’re still young and don’t understand. You will when you’re a wife. Now, get so sleep."

Vivian Lynch was speechless.

’Serena Yardley is actually pregnant.’

’So she’s about to get her hundred-million-dollar reward?’

As a thought struck her, she quickly grabbed the phone from the nightstand and sent a ssage to Sylvia Schuyler.

Vivian Lynch: [Miss Schuyler, I have so big news. Want to buy it for a hundred thousand?]

Sylvia Schuyler: [You’re the most money-grubbing woman I’ve ever t. We’ll have to see if your news is worth a hundred thousand.]

Vivian Lynch: [It’s definitely worth it. Transfer the money, and I’ll tell you imdiately.]

Sylvia Schuyler never cared about money and promptly transferred the sum to Vivian Lynch.

As soon as Vivian Lynch received the money, she replied: [Serena Yardley is pregnant.]

Serena Yardley... was... pregnant!

Staring at the four words on her phone screen, Sylvia Schuyler froze.

A second later, she replied: [Impossible. Serena Yardley can’t have children. How could she possibly be pregnant?]

’The drug I had soone give her was supposed to make her infertile for life.’

’It’s only been a few months. How could she possibly have conceived?’

Vivian Lynch: [I just heard it from my mom, but I don’t know the specifics. Mr. Yardley and Serena Yardley are at the hospital right now. How about I find out more and tell you later?]

Sylvia Schuyler: [If you try to pull a fast one on like this again, don’t bla for what happens to you.]

Vivian Lynch put her phone away, thinking about what Sylvia Schuyler had said.

’She said Serena Yardley can’t have children?’

’If she can’t, then how is she pregnant?’

’Or is it a fake pregnancy?’

’If Serena Yardley really can’t have children, and if I could give the Yardley Family a child, couldn’t I take her place?’

The more she thought about it, the more excited she beca. Lying next to her mother, Vivian Lynch could almost see her future self.

She wore a crown on her head and a custom-made princess gown, luxuriating in Yardley Manor while being waited on by dozens of servants.

...

In the end, Ethan Yardley took Serena Yardley back ho.

It was after midnight when they arrived. They didn’t call for Mrs. Miller, heading straight upstairs to their room.

After helping Serena Yardley get into bed, Ethan Yardley sat beside her and said, "Don’t overthink things. Just get so rest."

Serena Yardley said nothing, forcing herself to fall asleep.

Worried she might have a rough night, Ethan Yardley slept next to her.

「The next day.」

The person beside him was still asleep when Ethan Yardley got up and went downstairs.

During breakfast, he instructed Mrs. Miller, "Serena is pregnant. From now on, prepare nutritious als for her that are good for the baby."

Mrs. Miller’s face lit up with pleasant surprise. "Yes, Mr. Yardley."

After breakfast, Ethan Yardley went back upstairs.

Hiding in the kitchen, Vivian Lynch heard what Ethan Yardley said.

’So, Serena Yardley really is pregnant.’

After sending a ssage to Sylvia Schuyler, she hurried back to Yardley Manor to start her work.

Upon receiving another ssage from Vivian Lynch, Sylvia Schuyler was furious.

She couldn’t believe Serena Yardley was pregnant again.

’How could she get pregnant so easily? What right does Ethan Yardley have to beco a father?’

’Did they think they could live a carefree life just by sending abroad?’

’In their dreams.’

’I’ll never let them have a mont of peace.’

...

It was nine in the morning when Serena Yardley woke up.

Opening her eyes, she looked toward the light and saw the man sitting on the sofa by the window. Dressed in loungewear, he was working on a laptop resting on his legs.

Perhaps it was the way the sunlight fell on him.

From her vantage point, he seed to be enveloped in a golden halo, shimring brightly.

Serena Yardley blinked and tried to sit up.

Ethan Yardley noticed she was awake, put down his laptop, and hurried over.

"Serena, you’re awake?"

He sat on the edge of the bed and brought over her shoes to help her put them on.

Serena Yardley remained silent, looking listless as if she hadn’t fully woken up.

Ethan Yardley reached out and gently pinched her small face. "Still angry? Don’t be. I’ll carry you to wash up. You must be starving. Mrs. Miller made a lot of delicious food."

As he spoke, he picked her up and carried her to the bathroom.

Serena Yardley didn’t refuse. For so reason, she felt weak and unwell, lacking the energy to argue or debate with him.

She also lacked the energy to resist his touch.

She did whatever he told her to do.

Her expression, as if she had lost all will to live, made Ethan Yardley’s heart ache.

This was especially true when they went downstairs for a al. She just kept her head down and ate, not speaking, her face blank. She only ate one type of dish.

Ethan Yardley put so food on her plate. "Serena, eat sothing else."

Whatever he gave her, she ate. She was very obedient.

But her obedience didn’t feel like a good thing to Ethan Yardley.

He moved to sit beside her, gently stroking her head. His voice was soft.

"Serena, are you still feeling upset?"

When she wasn’t crying or making a fuss, it made him even more uneasy.

He knew she must be planning sothing in her heart—perhaps to leave quietly, or to do sothing drastic.

Still, Serena Yardley didn’t speak or respond.

After she finished eating, she put down her chopsticks and left the table.

Alone in her room, she habitually sat on the rug by the bed, hugging her knees and staring blankly out the window.

Seeing her like this, Ethan Yardley felt terrible and called Nina Thorne, asking her to co over and talk to Serena.

Nina Thorne brought her son along.

The little guy lit up the mont he saw Serena Yardley and happily threw himself into her arms, calling out in a sweet, soft voice,

"Miss Serena, what’s wrong? Why do you look so pale?"

Serena Yardley hugged the child who was now in her arms and replied flatly, "It’s nothing."

Nina Thorne sat down on the rug with her, looking at her intently.

"Serena, if there’s sothing on your mind, you can tell . Don’t keep it all bottled up. It’s not good for you or the baby."
