Severing Zeke’s head which had been possessed by the Clown was sothing many would call foolish or absurd because he had asked only a single question.

In fact, the question he asked was sothing even the Clown did not expect him to ask because one was not ant to ask such a question.

How did you get into the system trial?

Why are you here?

What’s your goal?

How did you bypass the security asures I put in place?

Have you been watching from the very beginning?

What have you seen?

What do you know?

All these questions and so many more were what Corey should have asked, but he did not. And he did this for quite a number of reasons.

One of them was because he already had the answer to so of these questions.

He could accurately guess what the Clown’s goals were, and it was definitely related to the Book of Death.

If he had not noticed the oddity of the shadow behind the throne and was not quick to act, the Book of Death would have been stolen right in front of him.

As for how he got into the system trial, Corey had a few guesses from what he saw in Zeke’s body.

Zeke had been marked by the Clown so that the Clown could possess him from anywhere.

Corey had a few guesses as to how the Clown was able to do this, and the main guess was through the use of shadows.

It was a surprising ability to Corey because he had never heard of sobody being possessed through their own shadow.

He had no idea how this was possible, and he had no idea if Zeke even knew that he was possessed.

However, the pro of what just happened was that he knew another ability of the Clown which was most likely possession through shadows.

Asides from this, it felt like the entire universe was trying to mock him that a potential enemy could manipulate shadows to even possess other individuals, but he had forfeited the chance to gain such an ability.

It was a little bit unnerving to Corey. However, he didn’t think too much of it until the Clown said his last words through the lips of Zeke.

"You’re too late."

Corey was confused at first when he heard these words, but a few seconds, his gaze sharpened and he looked in the direction of the throne and book.

In the blink of a Tier 6’s eye, it was engulfed in a sphere of shadows and a massive crack in space appeared behind the throne.

The crack was so massive that it would put Virendell’s Archive to sha. An imnsely powerful suction force erged from the crack, and Corey’s expression drastically changed.

He waved his hand and coated his body in a heavy amount of void force to negate the suction force of the crack.

Through this, he was able to stop himself from being pulled into the massive spatial crack. However, the sa could not be said for Zeke’s corpse, the throne of Death, and the Book of Death.

Before Corey could fully analyze the spatial crack and find a way to forcefully close with his Void Force, all three important objects were sucked into the spatial crack, and Corey’s expression beca completely emotionless.

He remained rooted on the spot as every single object around him along with the dust and ground was being pulled into the spatial crack.

All of these occurred for exactly fifteen seconds before the Universal System appeared and acted on the massive spatial crack.

A golden light fell from above, and the edges of the spatial crack slowly closed.

At first, it looked like the spatial crack was trying to fight back the golden light, but in less than five seconds, it was fully closed and everything went back to normal.

Corey remained in the sa spot without moving a single muscle for a few seconds, until he moved his head and calmly looked around.

The scene of the further destruction that was done to the ruined city of Virendell was reflected in his eyes, but he didn’t care about that.

He reeled in his Void Force, and his gaze shifted to where the throne and Book of Death had been.

He stared at it for a full minute, and then he shifted his gaze to where the severed head of Zeke had been.

"You’re too late."

The last words the Clown had spoken resounded in his mind once again, and his brows twitched.

His lips parted open slightly for a few seconds, and then he finally spoke.

"Is this first ti sobody had stolen sothing so valuable from ? Directly under my nose? No... Directly in front of ?"

"And it wasn’t through force or an overwhelming strength that I would have no chance against?"

Corey looked up with an expressionless face, and he recalled the face of Zeke.

No.

He recalled the mask of the clown. His red eyes to be specific.

Corey knew that he was not the type to keep a grudge or be truly angry over sothing since his enemies rarely survived against him.

The only person he considered his enemy was the Pope of the Temple of Flas, and this was not because the Pope had constantly done sothing to anger him.

This was all just for revenge.

The pope had murdered his parents and kidnapped his only sister, and he wanted him dead.

Simple.

A true enemy was sobody that consistently went against you and would do anything to kill you.

For example, the Paragons and Supres were enemies. And the Paragon Ancestor and Supre Ancestor were true enemies.

He had never gotten a true enemy, and he had never been truly angry.

Even when he saw the Pope, he was not truly angry. All the anger he had in him years ago when he first encountered the Pope had died down, and he just wanted to kill the Pope for revenge.

But this ti around?

He knew that he was angry, and this anger would most likely not die down for a long ti.

It was a different sort of feeling seeing your hard earned reward being taken away from you right in your face.

It was a feeling that very few could relate to.

It was like a trusted friend, co-worker, or stranger taking the glory for what you had worked extrely hard on.

He had faced and defeated enemies that could be described as calamities if they ever appeared on New Earth.

He had faced an Old One, and he won.

He had done all of these, gotten a very powerful reward, and this reward was taken away from him?

He looked back at the spot where the throne and book of Death had been.

"I’m not only going to find you... I’m going to kill you."
