"Runic Art: Rebirth's Vow."
Pala's voice resounded in Corey's ears and around him, and it was filled with both exhaustion and an arrogance that seed to be ingrained in Pala's being.
The runes flared brightly, and Pala's corpse began to change. The burns on her skin healed, and the missing parts of her body regenerated at a terrifying speed. Her blackened flesh gave way to smooth, unblemished skin, and her destroyed hand was restored, piece by piece.
The last part of her body to recover was the left part of her face which was burnt. It regenerated at a terrifying speed, and in less than three seconds, her beauty was restored.
Corey gazed at all of these with slightly wide eyes, and contained in his eyes were disbelief and frustration.
This was the second ti he was facing an opponent he would clearly kill, but after killing them, the person would co back to life.
'First it was Aethara, now it's Pala… Are all of them lowkey bosses that usually have a phase after 'killing' them?'
This completely unnecessary thought appeared in Corey's mind as he gazed at the newly reborn Pala.
Apart from her nakedness, there was nothing wrong with her. Her injuries were completely healed and her mana was the sa, seemingly infinite. But Corey noticed sothing strange as he observed her.
'Her aura and eyes are different… Her expression seems… less human?'
Corey narrowed his eyes as he felt the difference in her aura.
In Corey's gaze and through his senses, Pala's aura was darker and heavier than it used to be. Not only that, Corey noticed that the emotions he would usually notice in her eyes and expression had sowhat reduced.
To Corey, Pala seed sowhat… emotionless.
Pala stood slowly while turning her head to the left and then to the right. She picked up her spear, and then she looked at Corey.
Her expression was unreadable, but there was sothing unnatural about her presence, sothing that made even Corey's calm deanour waver slightly.
'What was the strange energy that I perceived after she used her art… It was so strange to the point that it gave goosebumps.'
Corey furrowed his brows slightly as he stared at Pala who seed to be unbothered by the fact that the energies involved in the activation of her skill destroyed her clothes, thereby making her to be completely naked.
Pala tilted her head, and then she looked at her body for a second before looking back at Corey.
"Like what you see?"
Corey raised a brow in surprise, and then he shrugged, "Not gonna lie, I do."
Pala chuckled with a smile, and then she folded her arms. "Are you ready to die?"
"Not really."
Corey shrugged once again, and Pala's smile widened slightly. Without saying a word, she pointed a finger at the sky.
Corey followed her finger, and when he did, his eyes widened the instant he saw a massive array of runes appear in the sky.
Before he could react, the runes lit up, and then a crimson lightning bolt flashed before striking Pala's finger.
The instant the crimson lightning bolt struck Pala's right index finger, streaks of crimson lightning moved round her finger, and a few seconds later, the crimson lightning fused and then ford a crimson lightning ball the size of an egg.
The crimson lightning ball spun above Pala's finger while releasing tiny arcs of electricity. Pala lowered her finger, and then she ford a gun with her finger.
A small smile appeared on her lips, and then her lips parted open.
"Bang."
The instant Pala said this word, the crimson lightning ball shot out from her finger at a ridiculous speed, and Corey's spine tingled along with his instincts blaring warning signals in his mind as the crimson lightning ball approached him.
Luckily for Corey, he had always been in his focused state and the distance between him and Pala was about fifty ters, and this gave him so ti to react despite the speed of the crimson lightning ball.
Corey swung his axe like a baseball bat, and the mont the crimson lightning ball struck his axe, he used a skill he had not used for a very long ti.
'Full Counter!'
Although Corey had the urge to scream the na of the skill out loud, the last thing he wanted to do at the mont was expose another one of his skills to those watching in the Underworld.
He had already exposed a lot of skills, and he was certain that a lot of people would be shocked by his prowess.
BANG!
The ground beneath Corey's feet shattered and broke apart, and due to the imnse power of the crimson lightning ball, Corey released a groan, and then it beca a roar.
"ARRRGGGHHH!!!"
So of the veins in Corey's arms burst and tore, and a second later, the crimson lightning ball flew back at Pala at twice the speed and twice the power, stunning Pala to the core.
"What?"
Pala's mouth was wide open, and just as the reversed crimson lightning ball was five ters from touching her flawless skin, she stretched out her left hand.
A network of runes appeared before her in a circle, and the reversed crimson lightning ball slamd into it.
To Corey's surprise, there was no massive or grand explosion or any loud sound. Instead, the crimson lightning ball was devoured by the runic circle.
Corey's eyes flickered when he saw this, and he tried to learn and observe the runic circle. However, Pala's voice disrupted him.
"You truly are full of surprises, Corey. I've never heard of a skill that is able to send back an attack with twice the power… Did you create it? Or did you get it?"
Pala tilted her as she spoke, but then she shrugged nonchalantly without waiting for a reply from Corey.
"Well, it doesn't matter though."
The instant Corey heard these words, Pala vanished from his vision, and then he saw her appear in front of him with a nonchalant and emotionless gaze in her infinity-marked silver eyes.
