446 445: Interesting

As Corey pondered the pros and cons of a permanent ancient seal, Selene's voice flowed into his ears.

"I understand why the citizens of Gravenstone would call their city a cursed and forsaken city. There's an entity beneath us that is so powerful that even seven beings comparable to tier 6s could not defeat…"

"...I an, I don't know why we're still so calm despite knowing this. What if the entity wakes up in the next second, but anyway, that's not the point…" Selene mumbled a silent curse under her breath before she continued speaking.

Corey and Pala's lips twitched at the sa ti because they had heard what she said. The curse was aid at them.

"As I was saying, I get why the citizens of Gravenstone are anxious and worried. There's a powerful entity beneath them, they're in between two extrely dangerous zones, and they have not been able to produce an Ascendant despite so many years having gone by."

"I get all of this, but what I don't get is why they don't leave. I an, do they love this place so much that they'd choose to remain here despite all of these? Or is it that they can't leave?"

Selene alternated her gaze from Pala to Corey, then to Pala back with a truly baffled expression.

After hearing about the history and situation of Gravenstone, Selene also had the sa fear that Corey had.

She had been worried that they'd have to face a being like the Capra King to leave the Starfallen region, but after hearing that they could teleport to another city by using the ancient stone, she was relieved and also baffled at the sa ti.

'If people could leave, then what was stopping them from leaving such a truly cursed and forsaken region? Was it a sense of duty?'

'If it was, then I don't understand. I was born in the Underworld, and I don't have any sense of attachnt towards the Underworld… Well, it's a prison, so…'

Selene ntally shrugged, and then she heard Pala speak.

"The citizens of Gravenstone can leave, and they can even choose to relocate to another city, however, they and their descendants would never be able to beco Ascendants or Dreadkeepers."

"Also, the descendants of the seven Chainbearers are still alive, and they're the seven great families of Gravenstone, but they and their children can never leave the city. They have a responsibility to defend this city and watch out for the awakening of the Starfallen."

"I think it's a curse that was placed on them."

Pala shrugged indifferently, and Selene's eyes widened slightly in realization.

"That makes more sense," Selene mumbled indifferently, and Pala turned toward Corey.

"So, what do you plan on doing now?"

Corey leaned back, and then exhaled deeply. He glanced at the blue torch in the parlor, and then he shifted his gaze back to Pala.

"I'll get my temporary ancient seal tomorrow, go to the library to obtain more information, and then spend at most three days in Gravenstone to obtain more information."

Pala raised her brows in surprise.

"You're going to leave so soon? I thought you would want to explore the Fog of Death, the Morphing Expanse, or the Starfallen beneath us."

Corey's lips twitched, and so did Selene's.

"I think I've courted death one too many tis in my life… An advice from , don't court death to the point where it'll develop an infatuation. Who knows, it might give you a kiss and you guys would end up getting married."

Pala laughed with a smile, and Selene glanced at him with her expression filled with cringe.

[So cringe!]

Selene's voice resounded in his mind, and his lips twitched.

Regardless of his words, Corey had no desire to stay in the Gravenstone City. Not only was it a city that was filled with problems, but he had taken the most important treasure that was around the city- The Earth Infinity Crystal.

He was certain that there were other treasures, but Corey's main priorities were the Infinity Crystals and Nightmare Fingers in the shattered dinsion.

Besides, he was on a tir. He had not forgotten the ti bomb in his body called his Void Phoenix Heart."

"It's so cute that you're worried about , but don't worry, I'm very very very difficult to kill," Pala spoke with a tone filled with imnse confidence and visible pride.

Corey's lips twitched, "Who said I'm worried about you?"

Pala chuckled, and then she grabbed her cup of tea which was shockingly still hot. She took a sip, and then she spoke.

"Anyway, I was just joking with what I said. I was also planning on leaving this place as soon as possible. I have to go to so places."

Corey tilted his head to the side, and although he was curious, he decided not to ask. They were not close enough for her to tell him such information without expecting sothing else in return.

Also, he didn't really care.

"However, since you'll soon be leaving. I'll wait for you to be done, and then we'll leave together."

Corey blinked, and after thinking about it for a fraction of a second, he nodded, "Okay."

"Great." Pala smiled, and then she took a sip of her tea and glanced at Selene before glancing back at Corey.

"So, where do you plan on going when you decide to leave the Gravenstone City?"

Corey shrugged, "I'm not familiar with the regions of the shattered dinsion, so I don't know yet. When I get more information, I'll know where to go."

Pala nodded with a light smile, "I can help you get into the library for free, and if you need more information, you can et ."

Corey nodded, and then Pala stood.

"I need a different type of tea, I'm getting tired of this tea. I'll be back."

Corey nodded absentmindedly, and Selene just gave a 'hmm'.

As Pala approached the kitchen, blood poured down her lips, and she covered her mouth with her hand.

Blood also dripped down from her eyes, but despite this, a smile could be seen on her face as she stared at a set of runes that only she could see.
