Both Corey and Pala’s hair stood on end as they were a few ters away from the crown of the world tree.
Thunder bood, lightning zapped across the branches of the world tree, and powerful gusts of wind that nearly threw Corey and Pala off the world tree continuously slamd into them.
Corey’s eyes glowed pure white as he activated his Eyes of Omniscience. Although his mind was not fully healed especially after he used the illusion ability of his Tri-Pupil Eyes to trick Syrelle, he had no choice but to use his Eyes of Omniscience despite the pain he was feeling in his mind.
’I’m about fifty percent (50%) healed. I can work with that... Hopefully.’
Corey’s eyes glowed brightly, and the world tree beca bare to him.
However, he imdiately felt a backlash from seeing through the world tree, and his vision pulsed and a devastating headache blasted him.
He groaned and took several steps back while holding his head. Blood fell from his eyes, and his veins throbbed violently as he reduced the output of his Eyes of Omniscience.
’It’s like multiple grenades are exploding in my brain at the sa ti.’
"What the hell are you doing Corey?! Get your shit together fast!"
Pala growled as she used the glass-like lightning bolts in her hands to deflect three lightning bolts that fell from the crown of the world tree.
Her bones shattered, the flesh on her arms and many parts of her body burnt, her hair turned into ashes, causing her to be bald, and her body was covered in her blood.
She was forced to take several steps back and a mouthful of blood poured out of her lips.
Her gaze were cold and focused as she stared at the lightning bolts in the sky, and a part of Corey was truly impressed with her abilities.
Deflecting five lightning bolts that were like the casual attacks of an Immortal was a trendous feat, and although Corey knew why this was possible for Pala, it was still a trendous feat.
’Seems I have to go all out.’
Corey pushed through the pain he was feeling, and then a crown of black bones appeared above his head.
Crown of the Lifeless Sovereign
The mont Corey summoned this crown, the world thundered and the world tree trembled violently as Corey felt an enormous amount of killing intent bear down on him.
In the distance, the expression of Anton changed when he sensed Corey’s aura. His head snapped in the direction of Corey, and a shocked expression appeared on his face.
"Impossible." He muttered with wide eyes.
The Tier 6 priest and the Tier 6 mage also looked at Corey with surprise in their eyes, and the reason was because his current aura was similar to that of Anton and the Book of Death.
"How could that be? What’s that crown? What sort of item is it?" The Tier 6 priest of the Temple of Darkness asked with eyes that were full of greed and desire.
Despite being extrely far away, he could feel his spirit and mana core desiring the crown.
’If I have it, I’m certain my powers would skyrocket drastically, and my position in the Temple would rise. I can feel my mana improving even with the distance between us. Although it’s extrely minimal, it’s still shocking.’
The priest of the Temple of Darkness was not the only one that desired the crown on top of Corey’s head, the Mage desired it to study.
He had a feeling that studying the crown would bring breakthroughs for him and also the Mage Association itself.
’I want that crown.’
Anton, the priest, and the mage, all desired the crown for several reasons. However, due to how close Corey and Pala were to the crown of the world tree, they didn’t dare to approach the duo.
To them, they expected Corey and Pala to either die very soon or be gravely injured and have no choice but to fall to their deaths.
anwhile, Corey was facing a major threat to his life. A threat he had faced one too many tis ever since the apocalypse began and he obtained his talent.
However, he was calm.
And this was part in because of his experience in being in situations like this, and also because there was sothing different about this life threatening situation he was currently in.
"Damn it, Corey. Why didn’t you tell that you would have to piss off the world tree to heal it! Do you plan on killing today for fuck sake?!"
He was not alone. He had sobody that was as talented as him, and he trusted her to protect him.
Corey did not reply Pala, and it was for the best since Pala might have been more pissed if Corey actually had the opportunity to reply her, since that would an that he was not so focused on healing the world tree.
’Well, I knew that there would be a reaction from the world tree the mont I summoned the Crown of Lifeless Sovereign, I didn’t just know it was going to be this bad.’
To heal the world tree, Corey could not use Dream Healing since he did not have the vast amount of dream energy required to heal the world tree.
So, he planned on doing sothing that every poison expert knew of. He planned on fighting poison with poison.
’The death qi of Anton and the Book of Death is different from the death qi of the Crown of Lifeless Sovereign. It’s a bit weaker, but since I’ll be manipulating the death qi with what I see along with my Eyes of Omniscience, I’ll be able to negate the death qi in it.’
’It’ll just take a lot out of , and I’ll have no choice but to move forward with my plan.’
Corey’s eyes pulsed brightly, and then he pushed more of his death qi into the world tree.
Black veins spread out from Corey’s hands unto the world tree, and it travelled down to the roots.
The world thundered.
