Within the Cobweb Forest was a large patch of open land, slightly bulging at the center. Fourteen identical trees surrounded this land, each one of which was completely covered in cobwebs. Only these webs had strings that were much thicker.
The land there was covered in a layer of cobwebs as well, but unlike the rest of the forest, there were no cobwebs covering the space at all. It was devoid of anything but open air.
Jax walked in through one of the trees, their branches creating an archway that welcod anyone who got there. He placed the flaming torch to the side and walked into this place.
"Finally," Jax said, both nervous and excited. "I found it."
He had finally found the lair of the Spider Queen, the boss of the Cobweb Forest.
It had been over ten days since his search for the boss started, and at that point, he had nearly given up on the idea of finding it. Even after doing nothing but searching for this sole place, it had taken him that long to co across it.
However, all of his efforts had been worth it. All of those days of running around had been worth it.
He had finally found it.
’Now I just have to make sure I don’t screw it up.’
Jax walked into the Spider Queen’s lair, stepping on the ground that was covered in white webs. Walking in, he felt the stickiness of the webs on the soles of his shoes. He took a mont to get used to it.
He had read about the Spider Queen in detail in preparation for this, so he knew more or less what he was in for.
He quickly opened up the Restriction category of his status, and next to the ’Single Spell Sorcerer’ restriction was a new temporary restriction.
Slowed: You are slowed for the duration you stand on the Spider Queen’s ho.
’So this is what they ant when they said I would be slower against the Spider Queen,’ Jax thought. The stickiness of the webs was annoying, but it wasn’t so bad that he had to run away.
He was okay with it.
Jax tightened the leather straps on the light leather armor he wore and put on a large helt to protect his head. Both his arms were covered in light bracers, which he fixed so they wouldn’t slip during the fight.
The optimal thing to wear on his hands would’ve been gauntlets, but he needed his fingertips to remain open just in case he had to use his spells through them.
Finally, the Scarlet Obsidian axe appeared in his hands, and he held it tight, waiting for the Spider Queen to show herself.
The giant mound at the center of the open land shook at that mont, and what ca out of it was a giant purple spider with eight glowing brown eyes. On the back of the spider were many glowing spider eggs, translucent with tiny spiderlings moving inside them.
The entire spider was massive in size compared to Jax, its eyes alone each around a foot in diater. Its head was around four feet in diater, and its back nearly three tis that size.
This was the largest thing Jax had seen yet, larger than even the elites. Where did he even begin to attack it?
As he considered, the ground around the spider’s body moved as four long, spindly legs appeared around the spider, each one nearly twenty feet long.
Jax looked at the size and was stunned. Even though he had read about the spider’s size, it was still very surprising.
The spider rose one of its legs high in the air, and it ca down onto Jax moderately fast.
Jax moved at the sa ti, dodging the large leg and running toward the spider. The battle had begun.
His speed was about 30% slower than he usually was, so by the ti he was near the spider, its other leg ca sweeping at him.
Jax poured Navi into his body and jumped the remaining distance, flying over the sweeping leg and coming down on the spider’s face with his axe. He swung the axe as hard as he could at its face.
It felt like he was hitting a stone wall.
While his axe most definitely dealt a lot of damage to the spider, it was also not enough to be a significant wound. He had heard that its skin was much tougher than even the Black Bear, but this was on a different level.
Jax pulled his axe back and rolled to the side as another leg ca down on him. He had no ti to spare at all. He was about to attack again when he saw one of the bulging sacs on the back of the spider break open, releasing a spider that crawled down toward Jax.
The spiderling alone was the size of a human, slightly smaller than the ones he fought in the forest. But from what he could see, these ones were much faster, and their bites were more poisonous.
Jax dodged the first bite and wrapped the spiderling in his threads. With poison applied to those threads, the spiderling would die on its own in around five minutes even if Jax did nothing.
But Jax couldn’t not do anything. The Spider Queen created spiderlings every half a minute to a minute, so if he let it be, he would get easily sward. He made sure he was not anywhere close to being wounded by the queen’s legs and jumped toward the bound spiderling.
He swung his axe, chopping down on its head. There was nothing the spiderling could do to protect itself.
The spiderling died in one hit. There was no ssage for him killing it, however, as it was just part of the boss. Until he killed the boss, there would be no ssage.
He turned around, axe in hand, and ran back toward the Spider Queen to attack her.
