Sigrid whispered.

"In an ergency, they won't have the capacity to guard empty bedrooms."

"Right. They're probably all crowded at the walls."

"That's troubleso in its own way."

Utulu muttered in a tone that suggested it wasn't troubleso at all. Beramund glanced at him and said.

"Your fighting spirit seems high, but rember the gate cos first."

"I know. But even if we reach the gate, opening it without being discovered is impossible."

"The gate uses a pulley system, right?"

Beramund nodded at Sigrid's question.

"It's big enough that three or four n need to work together to turn it. Of course, any of us could do it alone."

"We'll need cover while raising the pulley."

"That's right."

"So who's going to raise the pulley?"

As Sigrid tilted her head, both n's gazes fixed on her. Sigrid rolled her eyes and said.

"Fine, it's a majority decision."

It seed she wouldn't be able to get a majority vote for anything here. The three moved out of the room like nimble mice, advancing under the cover of darkness.

Of course, there were two large mice, but both were excellent at concealing themselves, so it wasn't a big problem. At least not until they approached the castle walls.

"It's crowded."

"And too bright."

"What should we do?"

As Sigrid pondered, Utulu looked at her and said.

"Maybe I should draw their attention after all?"

"That's one way, but it's a waste to disperse our forces. I think it's best to stay as grouped as possible."

With only three of them, losing one person would an losing a third of their strength. Moreover, if one person took charge of the pulley, their strength would be halved again.

Sigrid slowly surveyed the top of the wall. Gripping her sword, she said.

"I'll cut down the braziers at the right end of the wall in order. If we're lucky, we might injure or kill one or two."

"Even if it draws attention, not everyone will move that way."

Beramund pointed out.

"Well, I'll do the sa on the left side too."

Sigrid shrugged. Utulu asked.

"Do you have enough Aura? If you're short, you can use so of mine."

Sigrid smiled slightly at those words. As Beramund narrowed his eyes, thinking 'Where does this bastard think he's putting his hands?', Sigrid answered.

"I have enough."

As she gripped her sword handle, the two n tensed. With a swift whoosh, she unsheathed her sword. Crash! The brazier collapsed with a loud noise. Charcoal and sparks scattered on the ground, and the iron brazier stand fell over with a clatter.

"What's that!"

"Who's there!"

Instantly, the top of the wall beca chaotic. Sigrid continued to destroy the braziers one by one. As each light went out, the right side of the wall was enveloped in darkness.

"Bring torches!"

"Aaargh!"

"Were we attacked?"

"Enemy! The enemy has climbed the wall!"

"How?!"

This ti, the opposite side.

As she started doing the sa on the left, the Imperial Guard and soldiers began to panic and scramble. That's when Alita Ruben, the Captain of the Imperial Guard, shouted.

"Everyone be quiet! Search the area thoroughly! Bring torches! Light it up!"

"Siri."

Beramund whispered in her ear.

"Yes."

Though he'd only called her na, Sigrid understood what Beramund wanted to say. She made an apologetic face before releasing her Aura. Alita, standing in the bright area, made a good target.

"Ugh—!"

As he fell forward with a death rattle, people were shocked. The captain had fallen with a single strike.

"Where from?!"

"Was it an arrow!"

"Eeeek—!"

In the confusion, people raised their torches high and searched the surroundings. Beramund gestured for the other two to move forward and ran ahead.

He drew his sword.

"Huh?"

Beramund cut down the soldier who was startled by his sudden appearance. He hadn't even surrounded his sword with Aura. The red blood splattering on the torch and the gleam of the blade were visible.

"It's a surprise attack!"

"Enemy!"

"Where are they! Watch the top of the wall!"

"They're down here too!"

The soldiers, thrown into confusion before the three Masters, were easy prey. The three advanced in a straight line towards the pulley, cutting down people as they went.

Kicking with their legs, slicing necks, then stabbing bellies, ducking, dodging swords while deeply cutting sides.

It was no different from a one-sided massacre.

Those kicked by Utulu flew away spitting blood, Beramund's sword nearly chopped people into pieces, and Sigrid accurately struck necks with her sword. It was an extrely efficient movent.

"Siri!!"

At Beramund's shout, Sigrid confird the pulley wasn't far away and ran straight ahead, stopping her attacks. Soldiers who tried to cling to her were struck down by Beramund and Utulu on either side. She stabbed the throat of the soldier guarding the pulley and pinned him to the wall with her sword. Sigrid left the sword in place and grabbed the pulley, starting to turn it.

A rumbling sound was heard.

Soon, three Aura users among the black-clad Imperial Guard stepped forward.

"It's a sha we have to et like this."

"Wouldn't it be better for everyone if you surrendered now?"

As Beramund retorted with a grin, they didn't respond but charged in. Sigrid, turning the pulley, felt the nape of her neck prickle.

A familiar wave of magical power.

She turned around and shouted.

"Beramund, magic!"

At those words, Beramund created distance from the man he was crossing swords with and grabbed his collar. As his side was slightly cut, he thrust the man out like a shield towards the blazing light.

Bang—!!

An intensely bright fireball flew and fell. Beramund turned his head, narrowing his eyes.

"Aaaaargh!"

"Beramund!"

As Sigrid shouted again, Beramund shouted back.

"I'm fine!"

The one who scread wasn't Beramund, but the man he used as a shield. Beramund threw him to the ground and rushed towards the magician.

"A woman?"

As Beramund made a puzzled face, Bibi smiled and said.

"Why? Is it strange for a woman to be a magician?"

She drew a circle with both hands. Red flas blazed between her hands, making the sleeves of her long magician's robe flutter. Beramund's sword, which had dodged the incoming magic, was instantly covered in black Aura.

Bibi launched another spell.

Boom—!

As the magic and Aura collided, there was a deafening sound. Bibi's eyes widened in surprise. Beramund grinned.

"We have so counterasures against magicians, you know."

ntally thanking Arkana who had been his training partner, Beramund swung his sword down. Though her figure disappeared with a pop, he didn't panic and, using his right foot as a pivot, turned his body back and swung his sword.

Bibi, who had intended to stab him from behind, panicked and stretched out her hand to create a barrier. As Beramund's Aura cut through the barrier, there was a sharp, clear sound like breaking glass.

"Eek—!"

Bibi scread in surprise.

As a magician, she had always overwhelmingly defeated her opponents. She had never once faced a Master.

To her, humans were nothing but weak beings to be toyed with. Even knights who wielded swords would simply collapse from her magic at a distance.

Even when she ca out here and launched her magic, Bibi was confident. Adolf couldn't co along as he had to guard the Emperor, but she had boasted that she could handle it.

"Ah—"

Arkana, where are you? Where are the other magicians?

That was her last thought. Beramund's sword cut her down rcilessly. Her head rolled to the ground with a surprised expression still on her face. People often make the mistake of thinking they won't die in war and will always be victorious. Without even looking back at the falling Bibi, Beramund turned his gaze to the gate.

The gate was half open.

"Serios—!"

As Beramund shouted with all his might, as if it were a signal, sword-wielding knights began pouring in like a wave from outside the gate.

"Uwaaaaaah!"

Beramund looked towards the pulley. He could see Utulu cutting his poor victim in half. The remaining one dropped his sword and surrendered. Sigrid fixed the pulley and pulled out her sword that was stuck in the wall. The corpse fell forward lifelessly.

The blood-soaked blade, far from fading, seed to sparkle as if full of life.

"Whee—!"

At the long whistle, Beramund quickly raised his head. Serios was looking at him. Beramund imdiately joined his side. Seeing this, Sigrid also quickly stood beside him. Beramund said to Serios.

"You know you're dressed perfectly to be a target, right? It might as well say 'I'm the commander here' on you."

"That's why I called you. We're going straight to the audience chamber."

At Serios's words, Beramund nodded. Seeing this, the Duke of Lunatil quickly gestured, assigning several vassals as guards.

Once the wall fell, surrender was instantaneous.

The resistance of Achtschwietz also soon faded. The group advanced to the throne without much resistance.

The marble hall with its long red carpet was filled with the stench of blood. Sigrid lowered her eyes at the woman collapsed on the stairs. A wave of emotion swept through her.

'Her Majesty the Empress.'

Her blood was soaking the carpet and spreading down the white marble stairs, dripping down. The Emperor sat on the throne with his legs crossed. Beside him stood his close guard knight, and next to him stood Awen with a pale face. And—

'Alkerto—!'

Alkerto was standing behind Awen. It seed he had been guarding Awen all along. Relief filled her chest.

Alkerto, eting Sigrid's gaze, looked down again, pretending not to notice. His hand was on Awen's shoulder.

"What insolence is this, Crown Prince."

Emperor Yuri's voice resonated majestically through the hall. Serios stopped in front of the stairs. He shrugged and said.

"I'm trying to take over for my ntally unstable father."

"My mind is perfectly sound!"

"It doesn't seem very sound to try to beco immortal by killing people."

"You—!"

As Emperor Yuri suddenly stood up, as if it were a signal, the guard knights swung their swords. But both fell too easily to Beramund and Sigrid's hands.

Serios sighed, looking at the fallen knights.

"Regular knights against Masters. Well, I suppose you don't have any Masters left to serve you now."

Shaking his head, Serios took a step up the stairs when Adolf appeared out of thin air.

"—!"

As Sigrid stepped forward in surprise, lightning struck first. Though she braced herself for the pain she had experienced not long ago, there was no pain.

Adolf growled.

"You!"

"Sorry I'm late."

Arkana waved the hand he had extended to cast a barrier, grinning. Sigrid cried out in relief and joy.

"Arkana!"

"Sorry, I was delayed dealing with the rest of them. But I don't see Bibi."

"If you an the female magician, I took care of her."

"Oh."

Arkana lightly exclaid at Beramund's words. Adolf's eyes blazed with anger. Beramund said to Serios.

"All the pieces are in place, Your Highness."

"Indeed. Only my stepmother is pitiable."

He looked at the corpse with a regretful expression. Serios slowly drew his sword. Emperor Yuri's face turned pale.

"You intend to kill ! Are you planning to beco an unfilial child!"

"I wonder what you were thinking when you killed my brother, my mother, and Her Majesty the Empress. Is it not unfilial when parents kill their children, but unfilial when children kill their parents?"

Muttering that life is lived so easily and self-centeredly, Serios took another step up the stairs.

"Eek—!"

With even his last card—the magician—blocked, Emperor Yuri began to back away. Adolf tried to escape using teleportation, but his magic didn't work.

Arkana spoke quietly.

"I just deployed a magic nullification field. Now no one can use magic here."

Adolf's face contorted.

The Emperor pointed at Sigrid and shouted.

"You there! Are you planning to die just like that! Without the antidote I have, you'll die soon! Quickly, help

escape!"

Beramund's eyebrow twitched. Serios turned his head to look at her and asked.

"Is that true?"

Sigrid slightly spread her arms, then nodded with a sigh.

"Yes, it's true."

"Then we need to find the antidote."

Serios answered surprisingly easily and looked at his father.

"Where is the antidote?"

"I'll tell you if you let

go."

Serios chuckled at those words.

"If you want to be tortured and then die, I can arrange that."

"......."

Emperor Yuri glared at him silently. His attitude suggested he couldn't believe Serios would go that far. Serios reached out, took the crown from the Emperor's head, placed it on his own, and grinned.

"Confine His Majesty in the tower. Treat Her Majesty the Empress's body with respect. And—"

Serios's gaze fell on Awen. Awen looked at him, trembling. Sigrid stepped forward.

"Your Highness."

"I'll leave the Third Prince to you, Lady Ankertna."

"You think you'll be safe after this!"

Emperor Yuri shouted as he was dragged away by soldiers. Arkana put handcuffs on Adolf. They were magic-sealing devices. Sigrid quickly went to embrace Awen. As she lifted Awen into her arms, he grabbed her arm and buried his face in her shoulder.

"Sig....... M...... M...... Mother...... Ah......."

Sigrid bowed to Serios and quickly withdrew from the hall. Only when she was leaving the hall did Awen burst into the tears he had been holding back.

The tears he couldn't shed even while seeing his mother's corpse before his eyes now flowed all at once.

"Waaaaaah—!"

Awen sobbed in her arms, crying like a small animal. Alkerto, who had quickly followed her out, wore a complex expression.

Awen cried until his throat was hoarse, then fell asleep as if fainting. As she stroked his back, Sigrid mouthed a question.

'Right in front of him?'
