The road to the capital was a rather safe one, but it was still quite far, so everyone was tired. And in the middle of their journey, they decided to take a small break.
The carriages stood in a circle surrounded by all the guards that had co with them and Luan’s spiritual barrier with the four ethereal knights as well.
Drago and Hana were eating breakfast at a table, chatting about random things. While Liana and her attendants preferred staying inside the carriage.
Luan was lying on a chair he had made out of earth, not doing anything, while Bart was once more running around hunting anything he ca across.
"Luan, are you sure that guy is tad properly?" Drago cautiously inquired while looking at the large wolf that was running around like a madman around the camp.
"Yes, one hundred percent certain. But he is still a wild animal, so as long as you let him run rampant a couple tis a week, he’s a very good boy," Luan replied with a shrug.
Kian, who stood behind him, nodded. At first, he was rather on the fence about dosticating this wolf. But after spending months together with it, he had grown fond of it.
Just like all the other servants, Bart was an indispensable part of their tight-knit group. The only one who wasn’t so happy about him coming was Liana, but she would eventually turn her attitude around as well.
When she starts spending more and more ti with Bart. A smile appeared on Kian’s face.
Hana glanced at him; it seed like she had done the correct thing letting him beco Luan’s attendant even though she missed having him around. Having him help her son was also very satisfying for her.
The maids were cooking and cleaning while Luciano and Kafele were running around together with Bart, hunting and improving their fighting techniques as well.
Especially now, Luan would marry an imperial, which would make him a target for many people, so they needed to be on their A-ga all the ti now.
Recognizing this, they asked Kian for advice on how to get stronger and faster. Kian had a couple of thods, but for one they would have to wait a couple of months, so he recomnded hunting wild animals and monsters.
That is what they were doing right now, on this sunny day. The only break day of the whole trip. So everyone could do what they wanted, be it relaxing or hunting.
"This is nice, but I guess it won’t last long," Luan muttered, seeing a super busy future ahead of him. With the academy managing a fief and much more.
Kian chuckled, "There will be plenty of opportunities to relax like this, my lord." He reassured.
"That might be it, but it will also be super busy. With everything that will be happening the next couple of months or even years."
"You could refuse to do any of it and just live off Liana. But I don’t think you’re that kind of person," Kian countered, seeing right through Luan’s complaining.
Luan clicked his tongue in frustration. "Just let complain without countering, dammit," he grumbled.
Kian shut up the next mont, winking at Hana with a satisfied smile on his face.
Seeing that she chuckled as well, she knew from experience Kian’s sharp tongue could be very annoying at tis, but it was also very helpful.
Kind of a double-edged sword for the master and for Kian as well. He had been fired at a lot of different households before finding Hana and becoming her personal butler because of that sharp tongue.
Well, it had helped her trendously. Finding soone as capable as Kian was not easy, especially as a foreigner in this empire.
Like that, hours passed with everyone doing their own thing. After lazing around the whole morning, Luan finally got up from his chair to eat sothing.
When suddenly he felt his back burn as he dropped to his knees. Both arms wrapped around his torso, as if trying to hold himself together through the burning pain.
Kian, Hana, and Drago imdiately reacted, surrounding Luan and barking orders to the maids and guards.
"Are you okay, Luan?" Hana asked the still kneeling Luan.
Opening a single eye, he glanced at his mother. "Yes, I’m fine; it’s most likely related to my sigil. Just make sure no one cos close and keep a safe distance," he weakly said.
Then Kian grabbed both Hana and Drago and appeared a couple of ters away. "Trust him," he said.
Hana and Drago looked at one another for a while before nodding, "Alright. But go and get dicine and other things; it’s better to be safe than sorry." Hana ordered, and then in an instant the whole atmosphere changed drastically.
Luan was lying on the ground in the middle of the camp; his whole body felt like it was burning up, and a couple of ters away from him, Kian and Hana were making sure everything was prepared for the what-if cases.
They had dical professionals, people with healing sigils, and all kinds of things ready to use once Luan gave the sign.
Liana was watching all of this from the carriage, and seeing Luan lay there all alone, clearly in pain, she almost dashed out of the carriage to rush toward him.
But she was stopped by Eva and Anna. "Calm down, Liana. His parents and servants are there already; it’s most likely not for no reason that they’re leaving him alone," they reasoned.
"But what if sothing goes wrong? Then Mother will be very mad because it seems she expects a lot from him," Liana exclaid, her hands trembling slightly at the thought of her mother being disappointed in her.
"Don’t worry, when it looks like things are going in a bad direction, you can still interfere, but for now, trust him and his parents," Anna said, holding Liana’s trembling hands.
That cald her down significantly, and the three girls kept staring at Luan through the window.
