Compared to dostic audiences who were accustod to Mimikyu's presence, European spectators were witnessing this Pokemon species for the first ti.
"Is that Pikachu?"
"Such a small Pokemon doesn't look very strong..."
"I read the research paper on Mimikyu. This species has relatively low base stat totals, only reaching A-rank at maximum, though its ability is supposedly quite formidable."
The audience noise didn't affect either trainer's concentration.
Takeshi Aihara withdrew his surprised gaze and analyzed the situation ntally.
Mimikyu possessed Ghost typing with natural immunity to Fighting-type moves. Its Fairy typing also dealt super-effective damage against Fighting-types.
The Ghost and Fairy type combination provided quadruple resistance to Bug-type energy.
The type advantages were indeed substantial.
However, raw strength gaps couldn't be overco through type advantages alone...
Takeshi Aihara remained confident while avoiding arrogance. The mont the referee announced "Begin!" he issued commands without rcy:
"Throat Chop!"
Heracross's wings vibrated at high frequency as Dark-type energy gathered on its horn, thrusting toward Mimikyu.
The assassin's Dark-type lock-on ant Heracross could track its target regardless of evasive maneuvers.
This thrust's trendous power resembled a cruise missile in flight.
Both speed and destructive capability could level an entire city block instantly.
Without Roy's instructions, Mimikyu quickly counterattacked. Totem Aura enveloped its entire form as massive Ghost claws erged from beneath its painted disguise.
With focused intent, natural power surged.
Ghost energy suddenly transford into "dark flas," shooting toward the enemy's horn.
A direct collision between Throat Chop and the enhanced Shadow Claw.
Undoubtedly, in terms of raw energy intensity, Heracross held enormous advantage.
Even using non-STAB Fighting and Bug-type moves versus STAB Ghost-type techniques, the powerful foundation of professional-level Pokemon was sufficient to overwhelm opposition.
Theoretically, that should be the outco...
However, an incredible scene unfolded.
The massive ghost claw burning with dark flas successfully blocked Throat Chop completely.
The audience erupted in amazent!
"This is..." Takeshi Aihara's pupils contracted as he stared fixedly at the abnormal Ghost energy.
In his mind appeared terminology known only to professional trainers: higher-order energy.
This was technology accessible only to professionals above standard professional level.
Why was this phenonon manifesting from a non-professional Pokemon?
"Hera?" Heracross looked at little Mimikyu in disbelief, feeling trendous force transmitted through its horn, attempting to throw it backward.
Feeling its prized strength being mocked, Heracross stomped furiously on the ground and lifted its horn upward.
The strength contest failed, and Mimikyu was launched into the air.
Heracross seized the opportunity while its opponent lacked leverage and employed its favorite move: "gahorn!"
The sa horn-based collision, but with power fully double that of the previous Throat Chop.
However...
"Keh keh keh!" Mimikyu released a mocking laugh.
Dark fla-like energy gathered before it, condensing into an enormous energy orb.
Sage Technique: Shadow Ball.
Ghost-type Pokemon possessed double resistance to Bug-type moves, giving Ghost energy suppressive effects over Bug-type energy.
After rging with natural power, sublimating into sage techniques, and optimizing energy structure, this suppressive effect beca extrely pronounced.
This resulted in Heracross's prized full-power gahorn rely poking the Shadow Ball ineffectively.
BOOM!
Violent air currents knocked Heracross back to the ground. It stared intently at the explosion's center, trying to locate Mimikyu's fleeing form.
However, when the explosion's aftermath dissipated, only empty space remained.
"Hiding..." Takeshi Aihara muttered with frustration.
Obviously, Mimikyu had escaped into an alternate dinsion.
If Earth represented the material world, then the alternate space Ghost-type Pokemon retreated to was called the Spirit World.
The Spirit World was another dinsional space, accessible only to powerful Ghost-type Pokemon who could freely travel between the Spirit World and material reality.
Legend claid that reaching the Spirit World's deepest levels revealed a parallel world identical to the real one.
However, that parallel world was extrely deteriorated, resembling a shattered mirror divided into fragnted lens-worlds. Humanity had yet to discover thods for reaching that ruined realm, so they nad it the "Distortion World."
In summary, allowing Ghost-type Pokemon to escape into the Spirit World was the last situation any opponent wanted to face.
This granted the Ghost-type complete initiative control.
Other-type Pokemon couldn't escape into the Spirit World, leaving them only opportunities to counterattack when Ghost-types erged to attack.
Takeshi Aihara had ordered Heracross to launch fierce assault imdiately upon battle comncent precisely to prevent Mimikyu's Spirit World escape.
Unfortunately, it had still occurred.
"Hera!" Heracross remained positioned defensively, and because it couldn't predict when Mimikyu would appear, it dared not use any stat-changing moves, maintaining full vigilance instead.
Any surrounding movent would trigger imdiate reaction.
With no other presence on the battlefield, it appeared to be battling empty air...
Particularly after a full minute passed without Mimikyu's appearance, Heracross grew increasingly agitated.
In unrestricted combat, Heracross could target other Pokemon or even attack Roy directly, but competitive battle rules confined it to helpless waiting.
Of course, competitive battles included rules and restrictions for Ghost-type rogue tactics.
"Contestant Roy, one minute remaining," the referee announced.
In competition, Ghost-type Pokemon could escape into the Spirit World to restore stamina, conceal themselves, and execute sneak attacks and assassinations. This represented racial advantage.
However, after Spirit World escape, total inactive ti couldn't exceed two minutes.
Roy nodded acknowledgnt.
He used aura sensing to monitor Mimikyu's emotional state and confirm progress...
Ten seconds later, Roy's expression shifted.
It's coming.
Simultaneously, a crack appeared in the air two ters behind Heracross's left side.
The next mont, a ghost hand burning with dark flas burst forth, grasping for Heracross.
Heracross reacted swiftly, using Brutal Swing with arms condensed in Dark-type power to catch Mimikyu's Shadow Claw.
"Pull it out!" Takeshi Aihara shouted.
The previous exchanges had been evenly matched, combining the opponent's mastery of "higher-order energy" with type advantage suppression.
In pure strength contests, Mimikyu was far inferior to Heracross.
Heracross roared loudly, protruding arm muscles straining even its armor as it unleashed maximum strength.
Under this overwhelming force, Mimikyu was suddenly dragged from the Spirit World.
Before Heracross could finish off Mimikyu, Spirit World passages reopened simultaneously at the right rear and left rear positions.
Two more Shadow Claws burning with dark flas erged, grasping Heracross's pair of dragonfly wings.
Then they tore violently!
"AHHHHH!" Intense pain made Heracross's eyes bloodshot as it released agonized roars.
TEAR!
The fragile connection points between wings and back snapped. The two ghost claws discarded the wings like old shoes before slapping Heracross away.
This ti, the prepared Heracross endured the pain and suddenly erupted with trendous air pressure, creating whirlwinds that affected everything nearby.
The indiscriminate force storm temporarily forced Mimikyu to retreat.
Fighting-type move: Reversal.
This was Heracross's first Fighting-type technique in the match.
Unfortunately, unlike Lucario who mastered "aura sensing" and Psychic abilities without fearing Ghost-types, Heracross lacked such keen perceptual capabilities. The Fighting-type moves it excelled at with amazing destructive power were completely negated by Mimikyu.
This represented the dilemma many Fighting-types faced against Ghost-types - inability to utilize their strengths effectively.
Even so, professional-level barriers truly couldn't be overco through re type advantage.
Ordinary Ghost-type Pokemon would have fallen long ago before Heracross's prized gahorn. After all, even 100-power moves reduced by quadruple resistance weren't sustainable for Pokemon with 20-point limitations.
Level crushing remained decisive.
The reason Heracross suffered so severely was due to Mimikyu's transford Ghost energy and...
"Substitute," Takeshi Aihara identified after checking his information, unsurprised by Mimikyu's unique tactics.
Cloning wasn't the critical factor.
The real issue was: "Why are the clones so powerful?"
Takeshi Aihara had watched all of Roy's Pokemon battle videos. Mimikyu's clones previously possessed at most one-third of the original's strength.
In sa-level competition, clones with one-third strength could only serve as feints.
Against Heracross, whose level far exceeded Mimikyu's, such clones should be no different from tickling and require no wariness whatsoever.
However, the Shadow Claw power just demonstrated was equivalent to the original body.
Without this factor, Heracross wouldn't have been convinced it had caught Mimikyu's real form, leading to negligent preparation and successful ambush by two clone ghost claws, resulting in wing loss.
Higher-order Ghost energy... Mimikyu clones with equal strength to the original... wingless Heracross...
Takeshi Aihara's expression darkened. He had never expected to be forced to such extres.
Defeating professional Pokemon with amazingly powerful Z-Moves already represented historical precedent. Did his opponent intend to defeat Heracross without even using Z-Moves?
What a joke!
Betting on the honor of being Japan's Fighting Elite's direct disciple, he absolutely couldn't beco the next person nailed to the pillar of sha.
"Heracross, go berserk!"
