The scientific community generally believes that evolution represents the process of sublimation of "life energy" within a Pokémon's body.
Those Pokémon requiring specific items to evolve often possess peculiar life forms, needing a "catalyst" to help sublimate their life energy.
Wartortle's sneaky evolution didn't count—Roy had only previously witnessed Riolu's evolution into Lucario.
In Roy's Aura vision, Vulpix's "Light of Evolution" shone several tis brighter than Lucario's had, and the life energy contained within it was far more potent than the forr.
"This—" Roy gasped.
Vulpix's evolution exceeded Roy's expectations. The light was extraordinarily dazzling and lasted for an unusually long ti.
Many trainers wandering nearby sensed the evolution light and gathered one after another.
"There's a Pokémon evolving!"
"Hey, isn't that Roy from Capital University?"
"What's happening? Why is the evolution taking so long?"
Several onlookers realized this was sothing special and took out their phones. Seeing that Roy didn't object, they began taking photos and videos.
Finally, the brilliant light slowly faded.
A Pokémon that many had never seen before appeared before everyone's eyes.
Before evolution, Vulpix had possessed a snow-white body with only ice-blue paws and feet.
Now, she appeared completely transford—her entire body was ice-blue, with only her paws remaining white. The six short tails that had once curled like cotton candy had beco nine smooth, slender tails with snow-white tips.
The longest tail exceeded one ter in length.
She sat there quietly, doing nothing, yet exuding a divine beauty full of harmony. Her body was perfectly proportioned, her fur fluffy yet elegant, her entire presence noble and refined.
Ninetales' dark blue eyes gazed at Roy just as they had before.
"This..." soone muttered, speechless.
"What a beautiful Pokémon!" another praised sincerely.
"I really want an Alolan Ninetales..." soone daydread.
"That's it! I've decided—Ninetales joins Gardevoir and Milotic as my perfect Pokémon!" another declared, thoughts elevating.
Mobile phone caras clicked endlessly as everyone tried to preserve this beautiful scene.
Looking at this Alolan Ninetales, they all shared a consensus: from today onward, there might be one more candidate for the title of "world's most beautiful Pokémon."
Roy stepped forward and placed his hand under Ninetales' jaw.
Ninetales, as always, rubbed her cheek against his palm and called out softly: "Nine~"
Roy smiled gently. "You've grown so much. You won't be able to ride on my shoulders anymore."
Ninetales let out a disgruntled whine.
Elekid stared in amazent. He hadn't expected the cute little Vulpix to transform into sothing so beautiful—she was the most stunning Pokémon he had ever seen.
It was unfortunate that the reckless Electric-type lacked a romantic side, though Elekid felt a pang of envy.
"When will I be able to evolve?" he wondered.
While the lightening from Zekrom granted Elekid trendous potential, it also seed to increase the difficulty of evolution.
The competition that had pushed him to his limits had forced out the 'Battle Continuation' condition, and Elekid could feel his strength had risen to a higher level, reaching A-class.
A-class was a level other Elekid of the sa species rarely reached without evolving.
Yet Elekid was puzzled that he still couldn't evolve, though part of him felt relieved about this.
anwhile, Roy familiarized himself with Ninetales' new form. After confirming her feel and asurents, he noticed the growing crowd around them. To prevent any commotion, Roy retrieved her Poké Ball and said:
"Let's go. We'll talk more when we get back."
Back in the lounge, Roy checked Ninetales' information panel for the first ti.
[Pokémon: Ninetales (Alolan form)]
[Gender: Female]
[Type: Ice Fairy]
[Ability: Snow Warning]
[Moves: Blizzard (master level), Icy Wind (master level), Aurora Beam (master level), Extrasensory, Psychic, Charm, Baby-Doll Eyes. New moves: Dazzling Gleam, Misty Terrain. —Moves below proficient level omitted.]
[Comprehensive evaluation: A]
"This change..."
Roy was stunned, suddenly understanding the aning behind the rumor that 'different quality evolutionary stones cause different degrees of evolution.' He had originally thought evolution was just evolution—it didn't change a Pokémon's innate potential, so what difference would it make?
Despite his doubts, Roy had adhered to his philosophy of "giving only the best resources to his daughter" and exchanged for the most perfect Ice Stone available.
Now, looking at the panel, Roy understood.
During evolution, Ninetales had absorbed the extrely pure ice energy from the Ice Stone, raising the proficiency of almost all her Ice-type moves to a higher level. Even Blizzard—a powerful Ice move she'd never had the opportunity to train with—had been mastered.
The phenonon of all ice skills improving simultaneously was surprising. It wasn't just that her understanding of certain moves had improved; Ninetales had sublimated her understanding of 'ice' energy itself. She was now closer to the essence of the Ice-type.
If Roy's guess was correct, Ninetales' affinity for the Ice-type had undoubtedly improved drastically.
The original Vulpix had excelled only in 'psychic talent.' Despite not being a Psychic-type, her ntal power had been comparable to top-tier Psychic Pokémon of the sa level. Even Latias had been amazed by it.
Now, her ice talent had caught up and kept pace.
As a result, after evolution, her comprehensive evaluation jumped two full levels, from B to A.
"Those ten million weren't wasted..."
Seeing such a transformation in Ninetales, Roy, with his fatherly ntality, instantly felt the expense was justified.
"The team battle tonight is more secure now," Roy smiled slightly.
He had been developing and practicing the "Aura Team Battle System" for a long ti, and it had finally been verified in actual combat.
Currently, in Roy's team, Elekid and Mimikyu, who had recently joined, hadn't yet learned to manipulate psychic energy, let alone tap into Aura power. Vulpix had completed her psychic energy training a month ago and had been taught Aura techniques by Roy.
Therefore, the three Pokémon he would use tonight were Lucario, Wartortle, and the newly evolved Ninetales.
Logically speaking, Lucario, who excelled at Aura manipulation, should have been the core of the team. But after a series of tests during training, Roy had decided to give the team's central position to Ninetales.
Could the Aura system beco a powerful team battle strategy?
It all depended on what would happen tonight.
