The Black Donkey began breaking the formation.
Zhou Heng didn’t know how it did it. Anyway, it hamred here and there, sotis gritting its teeth, sotis with eyes shining and drool flowing, but three days later, it actually managed to open this stone gate.
"Worship , Donkey Master is just so aweso!" The Black Donkey stood on its hind legs, crossing its front hooves on its chest, looking proud and arrogant, "Go ahead and praise , I can handle complints without getting carried away!"
"...Even if you beco a Heaven-Earth Saint, you’ll never change your inherently cheap nature!" Zhou Heng said, shaking his head.
"Baby, Donkey Master is here!" The Black Donkey shouted towards the dark mountain body. Behind the gate was a dark passage, about a hundred feet high, almost level with the mountain. In front of such a passage, Zhou Heng, the Black Donkey, and Little Fire looked like ants.
They were all bold and daring. Although there were many unknown dangers here, Zhou Heng and the Black Donkey glanced at each other and began to move forward.
The passage was very dark, but no darkness could obscure the eyes of the Star Emperor, yet this passage was extrely clean, without a single corpse, flat and smooth, and sloped downwards.
After walking for about five minutes, Zhou Heng was sure they had descended at least a thousand feet underground.
The passage changed from sloping downwards to completely horizontal, and after walking for about ten more minutes, the passage disappeared, turning into a massive underground space.
This seed to be a city, with houses arranged neatly, but it was a dead city, silent without a single sound, a silence that made the heart creep.
"Is this the lair of those Black Bone Freaks?" The Black Donkey kicked Little Fire, sending the Divine Beast ahead to scout.
Little Fire, fearless and daring, imdiately dashed into a house, breaking through the door with a bang, but it soon ca running out, barking.
Zhou Heng also kicked the Black Donkey. This unreliable donkey really was too unreliable.
They began searching these houses, finding each empty, with pitifully few furnishings, more like prisons than living quarters.
"Maybe it really is a prison, don’t you think it feels like one? There’s only one entrance and the main gate is so sturdy!" The Black Donkey said.
"If it’s a prison, the people here are too free, they can move around as they like!" Zhou Heng frowned slightly.
"What does it matter if they can move around? They can’t leave, stuck in this ghostly place!"
Zhou Heng thought for a mont and shook his head, pointing to a building ahead, saying, "I don’t think so. Look there, it’s clearly different from the other houses, maybe the answer is there!"
That building was at the center of the whole "city," with a semicircular style, like an iron ball buried underground with half of it exposed. There were iron statues on either side of the door, holding scimitars, glaring angrily.
"Tch, why are you glaring at Donkey Master? Got a problem with Donkey Master? If you’ve got the guts, co chop Donkey Master!" The Black Donkey said to an iron statue, turning and wiggling its butt in a provocative manner.
Zhou Heng shook his head, stepped forward a few steps, and pushed toward the door.
Swish!
Just then, a sudden change occurred. The two iron statues suddenly ca to life, waving their scimitars, slashing toward the Black Donkey and Zhou Heng respectively.
"Freeze—" the Black Donkey shrieked, hurriedly trying to use its Immobilization Rune, but it clearly hadn’t mastered the two runes to perfection, unable to summon them instantly. It did call out, but only managed to emit a green light, far from forming a rune.
Zhou Heng snorted lightly, clenching his fists, a thousand stars spun rapidly, forming a powerful star force, Five Elents Rune enhanced his attack power, his fists t the scimitars.
Clink! Clank!
Two crisp sounds, the two scimitars were knocked back simultaneously, strong recoil force shattered the two iron statues, scattering them into pieces.
"Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey, dare to ambush your grandpa donkey! Little Fire, give them a piss to drown them!" The Black Donkey spat repeatedly, furious and humiliated.
Zhou Heng, however, was serious, inspecting the shattered statues carefully for a while, and said, "Donkey, we just narrowly escaped death!"
"What?"
"These two iron statues are likely controlled by a formation. Step wrong approaching the door, and they’ll activate and attack."
"So what? Donkey Master could take them out with a breath! You acted too fast just now, didn’t give a chance!"
"You’re dreaming! This formation is probably too old to exert full power, and these statues corroded over ti! Otherwise, I reckon they could strike with the force of the Milky Way Emperor!"
"...Don’t scare , bullying Donkey Master for being uneducated!"
Zhou Heng looked at the door, thinking to himself that according to an average person’s mindset, seeing a door would naturally an going up to knock or just pushing it open, but the owner had set a formation on the steps, which would activate the two iron statues to launch an attack if not stepped on in a specific pattern.
If it weren’t for the passage of ti causing this formation to be damaged, reducing its power to less than a thousandth, he and the Black Donkey would surely have been sliced in two by that strike just now!
The Star Emperor was cut into seventeen or eighteen pieces and still wouldn’t die, but who could guarantee that those two iron statues would stop after just one slash? Even in a chaotic slash frenzy, a Black Cave Realm master would suffer fatal injuries!
No one can be impervious and immortal!
Even the original owner of the Black Sword, the Taixu Saint, fell; what do he and the Black Donkey count with their current level of cultivation?
Zhou Heng wielded the Black Sword, unleashing the Crimson Fla Sword Technique and wildly slashing at the door. With a crisp ding ding ding, the door was violently destroyed, turned into countless pieces.
Perhaps this door was solid enough during Ancient Tis, but after several million years, any precious material would decay without proper maintenance.
Putting away the Black Sword, Zhou Heng strode into this hemispherical building, the only special structure in the "city," and if there were any secrets, they should be hidden here.
"What... kind of... strange... place is this?" exclaid the Black Donkey who had followed him in.
Unlike other houses with extrely simple furnishings, this place was filled with various tools, like the workspace of an Array Pattern Master or a Pharmacist’s Pill-Refining Room. Even after being abandoned for so many years, there was still a stench of blood in the air.
What the hell is this place?
The room was large, with a diater of at least fifty yards, making it resemble a giant workshop. As Zhou Heng walked through, he saw so tables with decayed limbs and torsos, as if it were a slaughterhouse.
The space was sealed, so these severed limbs hadn’t rotted to the bone but had instead dried out, which made them even more disgusting.
Fortunately, Zhou Heng, the Black Donkey, and Little Fire were accustod to such scenes, so this was hardly significant, not even making them frown.
"This seems like a laboratory!"
"But what kind of experints are done here? Donkey Master hasn’t seen experints where human legs and arms are cut off. Could it be an experint on which at tastes better?"
"Ahead, there’s a desk!"
Zhou Heng walked to the deepest part of the house, where there was a desk with several sheets of paper on it, stained with ink, possibly a will left by the owner during the ancient war.
He did not pick up the paper, fearing that ti had already turned it into dust, only held together by sheer luck.
"I go by the surna Gu, my original na has long been discarded, you only need to rember I am called Heavenly King Gu! Haha, yes, I can stand shoulder to shoulder with the heavens, I am the King of Heaven and Earth!"
"Don’t think I’m bragging, you’ll know how formidable I am once you finish reading!"
"Since childhood, I was gifted, mastering everything quickly, and earned the title of Alchemy Dao Master before the age of three hundred, later delving into the Array Pattern Dao, reaching Great Achievent by two thousand years!"
"To , life seed to have lost its purpose. Should I spend the remaining almost million years in boring alchemy or array pattern crafting?"
"I began chasing various pleasures, wandering mountains and rivers, seeking culinary delights, but I soon grew tired. Thus, I returned to the beginning and started playing with people!"
"People are the most fun in the world after all!"
"At first, I naturally played with won, but once you’ve had enough, they’re all the sa, a hole and two... Let think, my biggest play was bringing all the city’s beauties to the square, stripping them, and having them one by one. Because of this, I earned a nickna, called the most shaless lecher in history."
"In fact, they wronged . So many bottoms laid out before , I didn’t even know who I was doing, how could I be called a lecher?"
"Once bored with won, I began playing with n—not in the way you’re thinking, but by pushing them to their limits through various ans. Those cries of despair were more pleasing than won’s moans in bed!"
"I began researching humans, it was very interesting. Once, a Star King suddenly gained the Star Emperor’s cultivation level after my modification, but unfortunately, he only lived ten days!"
"Because of this, so forces started hunting , accusing of being an evil demon, wanting to imprison for life! Pah, as if I don’t know, they just wanted to lock up to produce all sorts of forbidden pills for them!"
"It was then I encountered an emissary from the Black Heaven Sect, a very strong individual, who I estimate had reached the Black Cave Realm, capable of killing with a flick of the wrist. However, rather than killing , he brought here, provided ample materials, allowing to pursue further research."
"Initially, it was successful. I combined humans with Demon Beasts, just imagine, a new being with the robust physique of Demon Beasts and human-like cultivation; how powerful would that be?"
"But perhaps in the final phase, I demanded too many experintal materials and captured too many people, causing the high-tier Martial Artists of this planet to suspect. They mobilized an army to attack, and although I deployed specins for defense, those specins had just been cultivated and were unable to defeat those guys!" (To be continued.
