After Shangjiang Team acquired another harvester, the speed of harvesting increased significantly. Compared to previous years, this year’s harvest wasn’t as tiring.
All the potatoes and wheat had been gathered, and once the sorghum was also harvested, Jiang Baohua announced a break for a day.
Xu Qinghuan and Qiao Xinyu had planned the day before to go to the city, inviting Yu Xiaomin to join them. Yu Xiaomin wanted to go to the mountain to gather produce. Xu Qinghuan pulled her aside, "Co on, there’s plenty of ti to gather later; people in the village will also be gathering. Let’s go relax in the city for a day."
"Let’s go then!" Yu Xiaomin waved her little hand, her face full of smiles.
She had been living with Xu Qinghuan and Qiao Xinyu for two months and was greatly influenced by them, especially by Xu Qinghuan, who often said that won should treat themselves well and love themselves first to have the strength to love others.
Her biological mother wasn’t kind to her, so she felt no attachnt to her. She was independent and carefree, living life boldly and without grievances, for herself and others. She wasn’t afraid to be outspoken, shining brightly like the sun, always attracting attention.
Yu Xiaomin also wished to live like that; she didn’t know exactly what she wanted, but it certainly wasn’t putting her genuine heart under soone else’s feet to be trampled.
Moreover, that soone else was her own family.
Jiang Xingye drove them to the county town in a tractor.
Xu Qinghuan had so business to attend to, so they agreed to et at the state-run restaurant at noon.
At the Xinhua Bookstore, Gong Mingjie was just preparing to send a letter to Xu Qinghuan when he saw her coming. "Great, you saved a stamp and the ti. You ca at the perfect mont."
Those were slow tis, with horses and carts and distant mail. Several days after he sent out the translation evaluation, the results finally arrived today. As he anticipated, Xu Qinghuan had received her junior translator certificate.
He handed it to Xu Qinghuan, "Your translation accuracy reached 99.9%. Don’t ask why it’s not a hundred; there’s never been a hundred percent. Here’s your translator’s certificate. Ready to take on tasks today?"
"Sure!" Xu Qinghuan ca to get so news.
Gong Mingjie handed her several articles selected from magazines and asked her for a ten-yuan deposit. "Keep going. Once you get to interdiate level, you won’t need to pay a deposit for tasks anymore."
"What are the requirents for an interdiate translator?" Xu Qinghuan didn’t want to remain a junior translator. Her principle was always to excel in whatever field she was in.
"Over ten tasks, each with an accuracy of over 98%, and you can level up."
"Ten tasks? How many words count as one task?"
"A thousand words count as one task." Gong Mingjie pointed to the manuscript in her hand. "You have about ten thousand words here; I’ll count them as ten tasks for you."
"Okay!" Xu Qinghuan readily agreed.
After taking on tasks from Xinhua Bookstore, she headed to the county hospital for work. There were three surgeries a month, though it depended on circumstances. If there were no major surgeries that month, her salary wouldn’t be docked.
Deng Aiguo saw Xu Qinghuan and treated her like a savior, "Doctor Xu, you’re just in ti. I was about to send soone to find you."
It seed today was a good day for her to go out.
In the hospital, there was a patient who had broken their leg. Deng Aiguo briefed her on the situation, "The hip bone is fractured. It’s not that we don’t know how to set bones, but the patient is elderly, the bones are brittle, and there are signs of a fracture."
Xu Qinghuan checked the patient’s condition, "Surgery in half an hour, let’s prepare for the pre-op!"
It was fortunate she was there. She didn’t want to take her salary without working, and the surgery was indeed challenging. The patient’s bones were malnourished, and for a smooth recovery without any adverse effects, it was best she perford this surgery herself.
After the examination, Xu Qinghuan told Jiang Xingye apologetically, "Xingye, I need to trouble you to go to the state-run restaurant and tell Xinyu and them that I have work to do. Also, keep an eye out for that educated youth from Liaozhong Team, my best friend’s brother. Tell him I have sothing to ask him when you see him."
"How long will you be busy? I’ll co to pick you up." Jiang Xingye’s dark eyes looked deeply at her, showing a hint of reluctance even before parting.
"Probably until tomorrow morning. If you’re busy, don’t bother coming. I’ll head back early once I’m done."
Jiang Xingye didn’t say anything, and Xu Qinghuan thought he understood.
Pre-surgery preparations went smoothly with the sa team assisting Xu Qinghuan as before. Once she changed clothes and disinfected, she went into the operating room.
At the state-run restaurant, it was quite crowded today. When Jiang Chengxu and his two companions arrived, they couldn’t find a seat. Although two tables by the window weren’t fully occupied, one was Xinyu’s group, and the other table was unfamiliar to them, so they chose the latter.
Soon after, Jiang Xingye arrived and headed straight to a young educated youth sitting with Jiang Chengxu. "You’re the educated youth from Liaozhong Team, right? I’m from Shangjiang Team, and Xu Qinghuan asked to pass a ssage to you."
Lin Yufei was impressed by Jiang Xingye and quickly stood up, "Let’s talk outside."
Jiang Chengxu glanced at ng Yibing’s face, having already thought it through, "So, you’re educated youths from Liaozhong Team. We are from Shangjiang Team. Nice to et you, nice to et you!"
ng Yibing hurriedly introduced himself, his gaze sweeping over Xu Manman’s face without interest, so he didn’t linger.
"So you’re Jiang, the educated youth. Nice to et you. These two are the Xu educated youths, right? I recall Shangjiang Team having another Xu educated youth. Didn’t she co with you?"
He was referring to Xu Qinghuan.
Jiang Chengxu beca more confident in his mory. In his previous life, ng Yibing was one of Xu Qinghuan’s admirers and pursued her for over half a year. When he lost patience, he started to spread scandalous rumors about Xu Qinghuan.
He claid that Xu Qinghuan had so sort of involvent with him and wanted to use public opinion to force her into marriage with him.
Before these rumors reached Xu Qinghuan, Jiang Xingye heard about them. At that ti, ng Yibing had opened several chain supermarkets, feeling quite wealthy and arrogant.
That night, one of his supermarkets caught fire, burning everything, including the shelves and warehouses, to the ground.
The next day, the fire departnt began conducting ergency checks on his other supermarkets. None of them t the fire safety standards, and they were all shut down for rectification.
ng Yibing had no ti to pursue Xu Qinghuan, but then an even bigger blow ca. When he finally passed the rectification, so brands cut off their supply to him, creating procurent issues. ng Yibing had no choice but to turn to smaller brands for help.
Poor supply led to poor sales. When soone found expired products bought from his store, an investigation revealed that the stock had been sitting for too long without being noticed. The authorities quickly conducted inspections of all his supermarkets.
Eventually, all his supermarkets were sealed due to food safety issues, and his business licenses were revoked.
ng Yibing ended up bankrupt and penniless.
Later, it was said that ng Yibing went south to work and was crippled in a skirmish, becoming a beggar.
After Jiang Chengxu divorced Xu Qinghuan, he continued to pay attention to her. Later, it was ng Yibing who claid that his downfall was due to Jiang Xingye’s actions.
"So, you know our other Xu educated youth!" Jiang Chengxu said nonchalantly, gesturing to introduce the two people beside him, "She’s the sister of Xu Qinghuan. This is her brother. How did ng Yibing know Xu Qinghuan?"
