The soul bag was slapped by Xia Mian and was left dizzy, spinning aimlessly in the air, like a child who had been wronged.

Xia Mian didn’t even glance at the soul bag, instead fixing her gaze on the black silhouette.

He appeared to be a refined man.

Of course, he was now just a soul.

The man’s eyes looked hollow, dazed, and since earlier he had been completely intimidated by the soul bag’s field, now he dared not move at all.

The man wore gold-rimd glasses, a white shirt, black suit trousers, and shiny leather shoes.

From his attire, he seed to be a scholar.

"Who are you? Why are you crying here?" Xia Mian didn’t like guessing things. Since the entity from the bottom of the well had co up by itself, she waited for him to explain the situation verbally.

Being questioned, the man seed to realize sothing, turned his stiff neck slightly, and cast his hollow gaze onto Xia Mian’s body, repeating chanically, "Who am I? Why am I crying here?"

The man looked bewildered, seemingly both amnesiac and like a newborn child, fresh as a blank sheet of paper.

Xia Mian frowned deeply.

This man has lost his mory?

Can souls have amnesia??

Xia Mian found it mildly amusing.

Lu Zechuan silently stood behind Xia Mian, his gaze critically falling on the man’s shirt, "He is a teacher at the village school."

Following Lu Zechuan’s gaze, Xia Mian looked and noticed the na of a school on the man’s shirt collar.

They had seen this school while walking into the village earlier.

Xia Mian squinted her eyes, "Teacher?"

Why would a schoolteacher be in the well?

What exactly has happened in this village?

Under Xia Mian’s puzzled and probing gaze, the previously muddle-headed man seed to rember sothing, and his expression suddenly beca vivid.

"Run! Everyone run!" The man said while throwing himself to the ground, seemingly protecting soone.

"You all must run!" His voice carried a hint of urgency, as if the Grim Reaper were about to descend.

The night was quiet, nothing but the rustle of the wind.

The man lay sprawled on the ground for a while, never encountering the disaster he’d anticipated; he cautiously lifted his head, glanced out of the corner of his eye, and saw two tall, straight shadows.

The man’s muddled brain gradually cleared up—he was dead, this was not the school.

Slowly, the man climbed from the ground and sat facing Xia Mian and Lu Zechuan.

"Who are you?" The man seed more lucid, sitting on the ground and warily asking Xia Mian and Lu Zechuan.

Xia Mian chuckled, this man was actually questioning them?

"Who are we?" Xia Mian snorted lightly, "Weren’t you the one who attracted us here?"

Xia Mian’s eyes shone brightly, gazing at the man as if her eyes were dazzling stars.

Although wearing a teacher’s uniform, he acted as if protecting students.

But his presence here had too many holes.

"I attracted you here?" The man frowned, placing his hands on his crossed knees, gazing confusedly at Xia Mian and Lu Zechuan.

"Who are you? What really happened here?" Xia Mian lowered her gaze, her voice slightly cold, "We don’t have ti to waste on idle chatter. If you’re looking for help, then don’t waste ti."

Of course, Xia Mian had more to say—if the man intended to lie to her, she could identify it quickly.

The man paused for a mont before letting out a long sigh, "As you see, I am the teacher here."

Xia Mian didn’t speak, rely gestured for the man to continue.

The man obligingly went on, "Three years ago, I ca to this village to teach..."

As he spoke, everything from three years ago slowly played out in Xia Mian and Lu Zechuan’s minds.

Three years ago, the village was filled with joy and laughter everywhere.

Change began when a girl was bullied.

The girl was born into a family not quite affluent. Her father worked as a mason in the village, earning a ager inco each month.

Her mother had no fixed job, doing chores for everyone in the village.

Unlike other mothers in the village, she had previously worked in a big city, was beautiful, and well-built.

Though the village wasn’t secluded, feudal tendencies ran deep.

At so point, rumors began spreading; people said the girl’s mother had done special services in the city.

The father, hearing these rumors, beca disheartened, often drowning his sorrows in alcohol.

Moreover, he blad the mother for failing to bear him a son, grumbling daily.

The mother endured for the child’s sake—until the father resorted to dostic violence...

That day, the father shattered a bottle, attempting to stab the mother with it, and the girl risked everything to protect her.

To defend her child, the long-suffering mother struck him dead with a wrench...

The girl, defending her mother, helped bury the father in their backyard.

The next day, the girl went to school as usual.

...

The girl’s father hadn’t been seen in the village for a week, and the eyes of so bachelors were increasingly malicious towards her mother.

Finally, one evening, a man couldn’t control his lust and assaulted the girl’s mother.

On that day, it seed as though the bell of doom was struck.

Every few days, soone would harass the mother.

Even the girl couldn’t escape being a bullying target of her classmates.

Those classmates only heard their mother’s words, knowing their father’s unhappiness was the girl’s mother’s fault.

The girl’s mother could tolerate her own mistreatnt but refused to tolerate the mistreatnt of her child.

That day, when she went to pick her daughter up from school and witnessed her bullied by classmates, she exploded.

That night, she went to the village committee...

Everyone thought she was currying favor with village officials, unaware that,

Listening to the man’s story, Xia Mian slowly curled her lips, "Is everything you said true?"
