Lu Zechuan hesitated for a mont and walked to the bedside of Xia Mian.

Xia Mian gently reached out her hand, holding onto Lu Zechuan’s slender left hand that hung by the bedside, and slipped sothing into his palm, tilting her face with a smile, "For you."

Lu Zechuan opened his palm, revealing a red hair tie with a rabbit pattern on it.

So childish.

Perhaps Lu Zechuan’s face showed too much disdain, Xia Mian’s smile faded, her face full of disappointnt, "You don’t like it?"

In an unexplainable impulse, Lu Zechuan put the hair tie on his wrist and awkwardly replied with two words, "I like it."

The little girl’s face instantly brightened up, and she grabbed a big bun, contentedly shoving it into her mouth, eating so eagerly that oil dripped from her lips.

She’s really just a child!

Watching Xia Mian eat like a greedy hamster with cheeks bulging, Lu Zechuan’s eyes filled with more and more amusent.

While Lu Zechuan was watching the foodie eat passionately, his phone rang. As soon as he answered, his face changed instantly, "I’ll be right there!"

Lu Zechuan left in a hurry, not even exchanging another word with Xia Mian.

Xia Mian stuffed the last bite of the bun into her mouth, looked at the empty doorway, pulled out a tissue to wipe her mouth, "Mom. I’m fine now, let’s handle the discharge procedures and go ho."

It’s ti to settle the score with Xia Jianguo and Han Xi.

Song Juan naturally wasn’t comfortable with Xia Mian being discharged just like that, but Xia Mian insisted.

Song Juan could only call the doctor to give Xia Mian a full-body checkup, and after confirming Xia Mian’s health was normal, she handled the discharge procedures.

The Song Family is from Capital City, running a company that has been passed down from generation to generation, now in the hands of Song Juan.

Father Song only has one daughter, Song Juan, so he taught her carefully. But unfortunately, Song Juan was blinded by love, taking a liking to Xia Jianguo, the Phoenix Man, and insisted on marrying him.

Father Song couldn’t persuade his daughter otherwise and eventually accepted Xia Jianguo as a live-in son-in-law.

After entering the family, Xia Jianguo was well-behaved for a few years, earnestly learning skills and managent from Father Song, gradually establishing himself in the Song Family’s company.

Just when everything seed to be heading in a good direction, Father Song and Mother Song suddenly had a car accident.

The Song Family’s company was thrown into chaos overnight.

Song Juan lost her parents abruptly. During that ti, she felt as if the sky was falling, muddled, losing her appetite.

It was Xia Jianguo who stayed by her side, comforting and guiding her, also supporting the Song Family’s company until he took over the whole company.

Xia Mian sat in the living room of the Song Family Villa, looking at the familiar surroundings, feeling utterly ironic.

In the past, she thought Xia Jianguo truly loved her and her mom, and genuinely respected her grandparents. But now, thinking of how her grandparents treated him, how could soone so vengeful possibly be sincere to them?

Perhaps, her grandparents’ death had hidden details!

"Mianmian, you rest for a while, I’ll go tidy up the room." Song Juan washed a plate of fruits and put it on the coffee table, then went upstairs to tidy up the room.

These days, while Xia Mian was in the hospital, Song Juan stayed with her, so the room at ho was unoccupied and needed so tidying up.

Not long after Song Juan went upstairs, she ca back down with a sowhat unpleasant expression.

Xia Mian keenly noticed the change in Song Juan’s emotions, "What’s wrong?"

Song Juan forced a couple of laughs, "It’s nothing, just missing sothing."

Xia Mian’s expression turned serious, "Missing? What do you an missing?"

Song Juan looked troubled and stamred, "The diamond necklace your dad gave for our tenth anniversary is gone."

Hearing Song Juan’s words, scenes from her past life flashed through Xia Mian’s mind.

In the past life, Song Juan was hard by Xia Jianguo and Han Xi, those bastards. Xia Jianguo brought Han Xi into the house, and the necklace Han Xi wore was the one Song Juan cherished most!

"Did Xia Jianguo bring that woman back?" Xia Mian asked impulsively.

She couldn’t let the tragedy of her past life repeat, nor could Han Xi enter their house again!

"This... can’t be?" Song Juan’s face looked bad, as Xia Jianguo treated her fairly well before.

Even when she caught him in an ugly situation with Han Xi, Xia Jianguo vehently denied everything.

She already had a significant opinion of Xia Jianguo. Would he dare bring that woman ho to ss around?

"Doesn’t our ho have surveillance? Just check the recordings." Xia Mian was almost sure, during Song Juan’s hospital stay, Xia Jianguo and Han Xi did sothing disgusting at her house.

"Okay, I’ll go check now!" Song Juan, her face pale, stumbled upstairs.

Given Song Juan’s state, Xia Mian worried about her and followed suit.

In the second-floor study, Song Juan looked at the computer, and her whole deanor turned bleak.

There was no surveillance footage on the computer; the surveillance equipnt had been turned off.

Song Juan slumped into the computer chair as if she lost her soul.

When no one was at ho, the surveillance was always on.

But during the days she stayed in the hospital with Xia Mian, the surveillance was turned off! Saying there wasn’t any foul play, even she wouldn’t believe it!

"Xia Jianguo, you bastard!" Song Juan was so furious her eyes turned red. She picked up her phone to call Xia Jianguo.

However, as soon as she dialed, Xia Jianguo hung up. She called again and again, and finally, Xia Jianguo directly turned off his phone.

Listening to the chanical response from the phone, Song Juan chuckled in rage, "Xia Jianguo, you’re really sothing!"

Instead of calling Xia Jianguo again, Song Juan called the police.

Sothing went missing from the house, sothing valuable; wasn’t it normal for her to call the police?

Ten minutes after Song Juan called the police, the officers arrived.

Half an hour later, Xia Jianguo returned.

Xia Jianguo looked upset, with a dark face, and even before he entered the house, his complaints ca through, "Song Juan, can’t you just settle down for the day? Don’t you know how hard I work for the company?"

Song Juan turned to glance at Xia Jianguo and said in a deep voice, "What did I do? Sothing got stolen from the house, can’t I call the police?"

Xia Jianguo frowned and said irritably, "Our house has such a good security system that even a fly can’t get in. What could you possibly be missing! Don’t make sothing out of nothing, wasting police resources."

After speaking, Xia Jianguo smiled at the two officers who had just finished their investigation and were coming downstairs, "Thank you both for your hard work. My wife is making a fuss over nothing, sorry to trouble you both for coming down here. Nothing’s wrong at my house, please feel free to leave!"

The two officers looked at each other, feeling that the couple’s interaction seed unusual, and weren’t easily dismissed by Xia Jianguo’s few words.

The senior officer cleared his throat and said seriously, "Ms. Song, we’ve inspected your ho, and we preliminarily suspect it was an inside job. Please think carefully about who has visited your ho in recent days."

After the senior officer asked this, Song Juan’s gaze turned to Xia Jianguo, "These days, my daughter was hospitalized due to a car accident, and I stayed with her at the hospital, only he returned ho."
