Being the top ninja at the village ca at a price. Klautz couldn't even fathom how many people he had almost worked for free just because they had helped to improve the political standing of the village in the world of hell.

At the end of it all, out of a 1000 gold mission, he would only get a asly 250 gold. Though the cost of missions increased with his rank but he was kept stolen over and over again and he couldn't even do anything about it. At one point Klautz had accepted it and had got used to having money stolen from him in such a manner.

So how could he not be happy when he was getting money directly from the custor? He couldn't help but have his black eyes shimr in golden light instead.

The village and the representative were always the one who managed the transactions and the marketing. Klautz was just an employee who got his pay.

So the feeling of an intense urge to succumb to greed was a completely new experience to him. And there were many good enough reasons that he could give himself to play along with it.

'It's not ninja work.'

In Klautz's dictionary had got crooked after living quite a few decades in hell. In his opinion, any work that was not ninja work was good work. That was what he believed.

"Are you telling or not? I would go back to the 5000 coin one if you don't make your decision fast. It's a limited ti offer."

Klautz squinted his eyes but his body worked differently. His thumb rose up high in the air no matter how much he wanted to hold it back.

"Deal!"

Verona watched the scene as she had a sense of deja vu out of nowhere.

She couldn't help but compare and contrast the current event with a similar situation she had faced back at the [Ice Post].

'Wasn't the reply just like this when I had asked him to heed to my request?'

As she thought more about it and as she began realizing the striking similarity between the two of them her face turned into that of a frown.

It was a strange feeling that wasn't able to co in terms with her own dilemma. After all, just like the money Shizu was offering at the mont she had offered a 'special service' for the sa. But she chose to deny it altogether to hold onto her innocence.

Her act was immoral indeed. But she blad Klautz for it for causing so complexity in her heart.

'Hmph! You think my love is just worth 10000 golds? Hmph! I did it because I loved you, otherwise I wouldn't have done it no matter how much you begged for it.'

She couldn't help but start to console herself as she tried to calm herself down. It was quite a pity that Klautz couldn't read her thoughts otherwise he would have scread that her boobs were priceless.

'Just you see. I would make sure to properly punish you for this.'

***

Klautz was pushed into the stage without any warning and he was indeed quite unsure about the turn of events. But he went along with it.

'What could happen at most? At worst, I just have to get beaten up a little to bag the 8000 gold.'

Klautz smiled wryly at his challenger Colt. It was quite a pity for Klautz but he wasn't able to discern the identity of his challenger.

Indeed it was Colt Ackerman. The sa person who Akihiko had warned Klautz against. But Klautz was unable to identify him. All he knew was that his challenger was a tyrant second gen that had already beaten up 2 challengers and he was the third in line.

And indeed there were good enough reasons for why Klautz had failed to identify him.

One must note that the ninjas were completely tied to the politics of hell. As such, soone who was inactive in politics in Klautz's previous life, couldn't have been soone Klautz knew personally.

All Klautz had heard about was the na 'Colt Ackerman' and that he had made quite a few accomplishnts in his early life but in his later years he had beco a drunkard owing to his failures and had lived his later life rotting away. He was one of those mob characters whose importance was only there for a single scene.

How was Klautz supposed to know about soone like that? Certainly one shouldn't expect Klautz to know about every face in hell.

'I should have asked Shizu. But now it's too late for that.'

Klautz was pushed into all of this too fast for him to act properly. He had a plan A but he had no plan Bs.

*sigh*

'But it's not like I am offending him here. In fact I should be satisfying his ego by losing against him just like the other newbies, wouldn't I?'

Klautz thought along the lines of 'a second gen is only dangerous when he thinks of you as a threat. As long as you are an ant in their eyes nothing bad can happen.'

Such was the law of the jungle, ignore the others and they would ignore you unless you are their primary prey.

'People tend to ignore small stuff.' '

Klautz nodded as he was convinced with his plan.

But for so reason Colt nodded along with him creating a funny scene for the crowd to chuckle to. He called out to a guard of his guild to hand over a pouch to Klautz before the battle.

Klautz raised his brows as he received it and checked his content only for his eyes to shoot out wide as it glistened in the reflection of gold.

"Judging by its weight its… 1000. Oh fuck"
