Shinji and the other girls were all prepared. The mont they found any trace of a vampire, they would act imdiately. This was Fuyuki, their ho. No matter who the intruder was, if they dared to stir trouble here, they wouldn't let them off easily. This shared belief ca from each of them having lost their ho once before, which made them treasure this new ho they had built together even more.
However, despite the Matou family's readiness, there was no cooperation from the vampire side.
"No strange cases? The city is well-protected?"
This was the response Shinji got from an officer in the police departnt's tech division. It wasn't just an offhand remark either; it was based on the latest statistics from the ergency call center. Thanks to the newly installed monitoring systems, both the cri and ergency call rates in Fuyuki had decreased, and the city's public safety was at an all-ti high.
Unusual cases weren't absent, but after investigation, they always turned out to be pranks or people scaring themselves. The serial killings or collective illusions of sea monsters from a decade ago had beco re legends, and now Fuyuki was peaceful. You could almost describe the city as thriving with joy.
Upon hearing this, Shinji had mixed feelings.
First, this peace was about to be shattered by the upcoming Holy Grail War. He hoped there wouldn't be another awful combination like Gilles de Rais and Ryunosuke Uryu. Both he and Kiritsugu would do their best to keep their explosive tendencies under control and minimize collateral damage.
Second, where was the vampire? Shiki had ntioned a vampire sighting, which ant she must have found so clues. But why hadn't the police caught wind of anything?
Unlike Servants, vampires couldn't sustain themselves on magical energy alone—they needed to feed regularly by consuming blood. Anyone bitten by a vampire either died or beca their servant, which inevitably affected the surroundings.
Was this vampire particularly good at covering their tracks, avoiding police detection?
Or perhaps their activity was outside Fuyuki?
Whichever it was, Shinji would soon find out because night had fallen, and it was the ti vampires usually beca active.
Using the excuse of bringing food for everyone, Shinji ordered a large batch of takeout, allowing him and Sakura to stay at the police station. While chatting with their workers and civil servants, they quietly kept an eye on the crowded screens displaying the city's surveillance footage.
Around 9 p.m., Shinji finally spotted a suspicious figure on the constantly changing screens.
A young woman, around sixteen years old.
She had black hair but red eyes.
Though it was already a cold winter night, she wore only a thin dress and didn't show any signs of feeling cold, like shivering.
More strangely, despite not being cold, she covered her face.
A quick check of the cara's location revealed she was in Miyama Town, not far from Shinji's ho.
Shinji asked Sakura if she recognized the girl, and after confirming that she wasn't a local resident, his nerves tightened. Miyama Town was an old district with few new residents, and the area near the Matou residence was a wealthy neighborhood with only a few inhabitants. Even if they didn't know each other's nas, they'd be familiar with each other's faces.
This woman wasn't ordinary. Even if she wasn't a vampire, she was definitely involved with the mysterious world—and possibly targeting the Holy Grail Masters.
After pinpointing the cara's location, Shinji made a decision: Sakura and Kirei would stay behind and monitor the station, while he took Fujino, with her newly developed Super Vision, and Kirie's Dual Existence to investigate.
To prevent the mysterious woman from getting away, Shinji used his magic bag to store Kirei's second self and took Fujino with him, flying through the air.
The close physical contact made Fujino blush, but she felt a deep sense of happiness. Normally quiet and reserved, she boldly wrapped her arms around Shinji's neck, pressing her chest tightly against his back. The closeness made her heart race, and she could even hear her heartbeat.
Despite the cold night wind, Fujino didn't feel it. Instead, her face burned hot, and she barely registered anything Shinji was saying to her.
Fujino was inexperienced in love. As a child, she had felt disconnected from the world due to her lack of pain and her family's rejection. It wasn't until Shinji entered her life, helping her regain her sense of pain and giving her a new ho, that she felt alive for the first ti. It was the first ti she experienced warmth in her heart.
From that mont, a young girl's heart began to fill with feelings for the boy who had entered her life. She watched him grow, mature, and work tirelessly for the ho they shared. Over ti, her emotions deepened.
Even though she was now over twenty years old, Fujino rarely showed her feelings. Shinji was surrounded by other girls, and she felt that, compared to them, she didn't stand out. She didn't have the perfect looks of Arcueid, the noble background of Lorelei, the long history with him like Sakura, or the boldness of Kirei to express her emotions openly.
She was plain and ordinary, without any special traits. So, she never competed for his attention, choosing instead to quietly watch over him—the first and only person to truly touch her heart.
Of course, she sotis felt frustrated, jealous, and disappointed. Late at night, she had even considered changing herself to pursue him. But every ti she saw him smile at her, the sa way he had the day they first t, she gave up on that thought.
Kirei's sense of urgency was sothing Fujino didn't understand, nor did she want to. Perhaps when she reached that age, she would be just as bold. But for now, this was enough.
Just watching him, living under the sa roof as him, secretly liking him—occasionally imagining him noticing her, perhaps sharing a mont of closeness beyond simple politeness, like now.
Going any further—no, she couldn't think about that. If she did, she might—Her entire body began to feel hot, her breath becoming shallow, and her eyes took on a hazy, dreamy look.
"Fujino, are you okay? Is the wind too strong? Are you uncomfortable?"
Shinji's voice snapped her out of her thoughts, and she quickly blushed, replying:
"No, I'm fine..."
"Hmph, don't mind her. She's enjoying being carried by you," Kirei's second self complained as she erged from the magic bag, grumbling.
"She's always so quiet, but inside she's thinking more than anyone. She's the most repressed in the whole family."
Fujino didn't respond to her friend's teasing. Instead, she buried her face in Shinji's back, her mind swirling with her secret thoughts.
PS: Now that Shinji is of legal age, so girls are in heat.
