She Rebuilt Her Fallen Country With Storage Space Chapter 68 - 68 68 Charging Forward Growing Wildly
Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Charging Forward, Growing Wildly Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Charging Forward, Growing Wildly “Do you not need it?” Xiang Ying raised her beautiful eyebrows and walked closer to him, stepping on the puddles.
Her slightly squinted phoenix eyes shimred with a dark luster.
“How well do you understand ? Just because I’m afraid of water, you think I’m not Xiang Ying, but who else could I be?”
Her words rendered Jie Chen speechless.
Xiang Ying’s pale hands gathered her robes, swaying gently left and right with the rocking of the boat.
“I used to be afraid because I had not yet fallen into the dire straits I find myself in now, with the destruction of my country and family right before my eyes. The instinct to survive is enough to drive to change.”
“Do you think everything I do is just to show off my strength? I’m seizing the initiative, fighting for a gasp of breath.”
Suddenly, Jie Chen lifted his thin eyes, the light in the cabin creating a play of light and shadows, making his gaze seem obscure and difficult to understand.
“I know what you want to do, to win the soldiers’ admiration with this approach.”
People naturally admire the strong and subconsciously want to follow them.
Xiang Ying is very adept at controlling people’s hearts.
Jie Chen’s voice was heavy, “You repair the ship and risk your life doing so, don’t you realize it’s futile? The people of Nanyue will not let you go.”
Xiang Ying was well aware of what they would face going to Nanyue.
“Of course, I know, and I guess you wouldn’t appreciate it, but with so many soldiers, there will always be those who admire , and isn’t winning people’s hearts started by accumulating these little things? I aim for nothing else, just not to sit around and wait to die, I’ll try my hardest.”
“I’m not afraid of taking risks or getting hurt, I only fear not winning.”
As she spoke, she reached out her hand to his shoulder, removing the weeds for him.
This ti Jie Chen did not avoid her touch.
And Xiang Ying’s phoenix eyes were shimring, gazing at his face, “Jie Chen, should a person live their life always fearing sothing? Have you ever experienced a great change? Have you ever felt as though you’ve been brought back from the dead?”
Jie Chen’s muscles tensed, his face pausing montarily.
A flicker of indistinct emotion swiftly passed through his eyes, then he gently pushed Xiang Ying’s wrist away.
“You don’t need to say more, I believe you,” he said with a hoarse voice, deeply resonant.
Xiang Ying gently hooked his fingertips, “Also, I consider you as a cricket on the ship, if sothing happens to the ship, you will also be questioned.”
“We fix the ship ourselves, so when the Deputy General asks, you’ll have an answer, right?”
A complex emotion flashed through Jie Chen’s thin eyes.
She was actually considering his situation?
The ship creaked as it rocked due to the waters.
Jie Chen looked at her, just about to speak, when suddenly the cloak draped over Xiang Ying’s shoulders slipped off.
Her fair body starkly entered his sight.
Jie Chen’s breath caught, and he hurriedly bent down, picking up the clothes in a panic and tightly wrapping them around her.
Xiang Ying laughed, “Why are you in such a fluster? What’s there to be afraid of, we’ve seen it all already.”
Her words made Jie Chen’s ears turn red, his stern face growing even more irate.
“You won’t die from talking less of that kind.”
“Why can’t I say it, does it make you nervous or shy?”
“You—!”
Just at that mont, the team leader knocked from outside: “Jie Jianjun, the clean clothes are here.”
Jie Chen stepped forward, only opening the door a crack.
The team leader wanted to inquire about Xiang Ying’s condition, but as his gaze tried to peek past Jie Chen inside, Jie Chen frowned and rebuked, “What are you looking at?”
The team leader quickly lowered his head, “This subordinate dares not.”
With a bang, the door was closed again.
The team leader wiped the rainwater off his face, feeling wronged inside.
Why was Jie Jianjun so harsh? He hadn’t seen anything.
Inside the cabin, Jie Chen handed the clothes to Xiang Ying.
“You change first, and when the rain stops at dawn tomorrow, we will take a small boat back to the front. If you’re tired, rest here for a while.”
Xiang Ying nodded, turned her back, and undressed the outer robe.
Jie Chen imdiately turned and left.
But that sudden glance had allowed him to see what seed like a cluster of dark purple bruises on Xiang Ying’s back.
Once Jie Chen left, Xiang Ying dove into the narrow space.
Having soaked in the river just now, she was very cold!
And her lower back was killing her.
She hastily opened the dicine cabinet, rummaged through it to find an ointnt for activating blood circulation and dispelling bruises, and sprayed it on her back.
Unfortunately, applying it with hands behind the back was always inconvenient. Using the brass mirror, she saw the bruises were severe, and Xiang Ying applied several more patches of ointnt on herself.
She dried her hair with a comfortable cloth, and made herself a bowl of steaming hot fresh shrimp noodles with bone broth.
She also roasted two skewers of lamb and peppers.
Slurping it all down, her stomach felt warm and her body followed suit, feeling comfortable.
Xiang Ying left the space and collapsed onto the low bed in the annex, wrapping herself in a blanket and fell asleep from exhaustion.
She slept till early next morning.
When she woke up, the sky outside was clear.
The overnight rain had washed the river clean, shimring with light, and the trees on the distant shore were vibrant with greenery.
Xiang Ying rubbed her forehead and sat up, when suddenly soone knocked on the door.
“Awake?” It was Jie Chen’s voice.
Xiang Ying humd in affirmation and saw Jie Chen enter with a bowl of minced at porridge, causing her to blink in bewildernt.
“Have you been outside the door all this ti?”
“No, I just ca over.” Jie Chen explained expressionlessly, handing her the hot porridge.
Xiang Ying took a few bites and then set it down, it wasn’t tasty because it was unsalted!
Although she knew, having at in the porridge was already considered a delicacy in the eyes of Jie Chen and the soldiers.
But it wasn’t tasty, and she couldn’t mistreat her stomach.
Imagine stead crab roe buns with a dish of ginger vinegar, how delicious that would be.
Seeing her not eating, Jie Chen frowned slightly, “Aren’t you hungry?”
Xiang Ying shook her head, “I’m alright, have you eaten?”
Jie Chen responded with a hum and pulled out a bottle of ointnt from his sleeve.
“This dicine is for bruising.”
Xiang Ying was startled, so Jie Chen had also seen it.
She took it from him, and right as he was about to leave, Xiang Ying stopped him.
“Could you apply it on ? It’s on my back, and I can’t see it.”
Jie Chen’s steps stiffened, and before he could refuse, Xiang Ying had already placed the ointnt in his hand.
She compliantly took off her robe and lay down on the bed.
She had already secretly removed the plasters and stashed them back into the space.
Xiang Ying tossed her black hair to one side, and with a sidelong glance, saw that Jie Chen was still stupidly standing there, not moving.
“Hurry up,” she urged, “don’t think about finding another female prisoner, I only trust you.”
These words made Jie Chen tense up.
He furrowed his brows and walked over with heavy steps, “I understand, just lie down.”
Xiang Ying then withdrew her gaze.
A clump of cold ointnt suddenly landed on her waist, making Xiang Ying hiss.
He imdiately stopped, “Does it hurt?”
“A bit.” After she spoke, Jie Chen’s movents beca even gentler.
His fingertips were rough with calluses, yet surprisingly comforting during the light rub.
Xiang Ying closed her eyes in enjoynt.
But Jie Chen saw was an extrely slim waist and skin as white as porcelain.
His throat bobbed up and down, his eyes inadvertently deepening.
The bruise was near the waist, close to the buttocks, the blue and purple hues starkly alarming.
She must have been seriously hurt at the ti, intense pain capable of instantly disabling soone, especially in the water.
Yet even then, Xiang Ying managed to get out of the water.
Only at this mont did Jie Chen realize Xiang Ying was right.
He didn’t really understand her.
At least, he had no idea she had such resilience.
The more dangerous the situation, the more she thrived, wild and unrestrained, growing fiercely like a weed.
