Chapter 53: Chapter 53 He Must Be Foolish to Think She Would Repent Chapter 53: Chapter 53 He Must Be Foolish to Think She Would Repent Xiang Ying walked over and bent down for a closer look.

It turned out that there was a line of small characters carved at the end of the coffin.

They weren’t using the exclusive script of the Dai Country Imperial Family, so Xiang Ying could understand it.

The characters were engraved by the two Wizards, Cai and Wang, predicting that Prince Anping, though dead for a hundred years, would still face a calamity.

His bones could likely be destroyed, leaving no resting place.

Hence, they left behind a substantial treasure, hoping that if any Tomb Robbers ca in the future, they would only take the treasure and not harm Prince Anping’s body.

Xiang Ying and Jie Chen exchanged a glance.

“Where’s the treasure? Has it been taken?” She looked around, finding no clues.

Jie Chen calmly judged, “These tomb robbers must have seen the substantial treasure as soon as they entered, hence, they fought among themselves over the uneven division of loot.”

Having said that, he gazed around, then suddenly strode toward the coffin.

Jie Chen, with his hand, directly pushed back the lid of Prince Anping’s coffin.

A heavy, dull sound echoed in the eerie tomb chamber.

Following that, a few clicking sounds of chanisms, a secret door on the tomb wall beside Xiang Ying slowly lifted.

Xiang Ying was surprised: “The chanism is actually on Prince Anping’s coffin.”

The two Wizards, Cai and Wang, were indeed ingenious.

If those tomb robbers had left with the burial goods from the secret chamber, nothing would have happened.

But greedily, they tried to see what was inside Prince Anping’s coffin.

They had agreed to take the items without disturbing the corpse, hence they were poisoned by the chanism set by the two wizards inside the coffin.

None were spared.

Xiang Ying couldn’t help but want to laugh.

This was truly a scenario of “Prince Anping’s coffin lid cannot hold”.

Behind the secret door was a staircase leading downwards, with rfolk Lamps burning on both walls.

Jie Chen was about to go down, but Xiang Ying stopped him.

“If this door accidentally closes, and we get trapped down there, we won’t be able to get out.”

Jie Chen raised an eyebrow: “What do you suggest?”

Xiang Ying went to where the Tomb Robbers’ skeletons were and picked up the rope they had used to secure themselves.

She tied one end around her waist, and handed the other end to Jie Chen.

“You wait up here for while I go down to check.”

Jie Chen, silent, just fixed his gaze on her.

Xiang Ying fluttered her Phoenix Eyes: “What, you don’t trust ? Even if there were a pile of treasures below, I wouldn’t take them for myself.”

“I’m not concerned about the treasures,” Jie Chen’s voice was cold, “but you better not run off again.”

Xiang Ying mockingly nodded obediently: “Don’t worry, I’ll just take a look and co right up. Wait for here.”

Having said that, she went down the stairs.

Upon reaching the bottom, Xiang Ying looked back; the stairs were too long, and she could no longer see Jie Chen’s figure.

Her heart felt slightly relieved.

The reason she didn’t let Jie Chen follow was because, if he ca along, how would she be able to gather all the treasures into her space?

She pushed open the only secret door in front of her.

Xiang Ying had entered a world of gold.

She was nearly blinded by the brightness!

The full cabinets had gold bars, gold cakes, and beautifully crafted jade utensils.

It showed how luxurious Prince Anping had been in life!

Not only that, the Golden Rattan Wood piled in the corner of the wall seed as if it cost nothing.

Xiang Ying waved her hand grandly, taking everything with her!

The secret chamber was wide and massive, resembling a small sports arena.

“Elder Lin really had a unique vision; this large tomb is indeed a grand tomb!” she murmured as she collected.

In the corner’s chest, there were also bronze items, lacquered nuts, and bronzes such as copper horses and others.

Xiang Ying packed everything into her space, watching as the inventory count inside kept rising.

At last, her access to the seventh floor’s resources unlocked, showing: 45000/80000

Xiang Ying clasped her hands together: “Thank you for Prince Anping’s generous reward. I will surely use this money where it’s needed.”

Jie Chen waited for thirty minutes before Xiang Ying returned.

Her pale, beautiful face seed sowhat rosy, her Phoenix Eyes sparkling brightly.

Jie Chen raised his eyebrows, puzzled: “What did you find?” She seed so excited.

Yet, Xiang Ying feigned a shake of her head in lantation: “Nothing much left, just so empty shelves.”

“Possibly moved out by soone earlier, or a trick of two Wizards, but, I found this.”

She fetched a Dragon and Phoenix Pendant from her sleeve.

It was just discovered below, catching her attention due to its unique design of two jade pieces joined as one.

She couldn’t leave Jie Chen empty-handed, especially since discovering the secret chamber was largely thanks to him.

“The Dragon and Phoenix Pendant symbolizes beautiful relationships. Jie Chen, I failed to leave a good impression on you before, that was my fault. Back then, I didn’t know how to interact with you or express my affection.”

Xiang Ying solemnly placed the Dragon and Phoenix Pendant in his palm, her Phoenix Eyes sincerely eting his under the flickering light and shadow.

For a mont, Jie Chen felt a touch of emotion stir within him.

He didn’t refuse but quietly watched her, waiting for what was to co next.

“So take the Dragon and Phoenix Pendant, and when we return to Nanyue, find a woman who loves you and give her the jade as my blessing.”

“Rember to choose soone with a good temperant; otherwise, she might mistreat our children.”

Right after Xiang Ying finished speaking, Jie Chen’s expression changed, pushing her hand away.

“You’re seriously ill.” He was foolish to believe that this woman truly knew remorse.

Jie Chen then turned back towards the path they had co.

Xiang Ying was clueless as to why he was angry again.

A man’s heart is as fathomless as the ocean depths.

“Jie Chen, you’re going the wrong way. I found an exit in the secret chamber just now.”

Consequently, Jie Chen turned back around, his face dark as the bottom of a pot.

Xiang Ying fixed the tomb door with special fire clay to prevent further disturbances to Prince Anping’s peace.

Afterward, the two climbed out through the secret chamber’s exit door and stood in an open mountain wilderness.

At this mont, daylight was bright, and the sweltering sun overhead dispersed the dead air lingering in the tomb.

Xiang Ying shaded her eyes with her hand, gazing into the distance.

The vast mountains and rivers were magnificent, presenting a splendid view everywhere in her eyes.

“Where do we go now?”

Jie Chen, unwilling to speak a word to Xiang Ying, turned away and strode forward. Xiang Ying quickly followed him.

The Dragon and Phoenix Pendant, she temporarily put back into her space.

If he didn’t want it, she couldn’t just throw it away after all—it was money.

Speaking of coincidences, after coming out from the tomb, they hadn’t walked long down the western slope when they unexpectedly ran into Scar Face who was searching for them!

Upon seeing Xiang Ying and Jie Chen, Scar Face’s eyes imdiately showed excitent.

“Elder Princess, Military Supervisor, you’re here!” he shouted to those behind him.

In no ti, many soldiers hurried over.

Jie Chen’s deanor returned to normal, inquiring about the Exile Team’s situation.

Scar Face glanced continuously at Xiang Ying behind him while answering: “The other two Military Supervisors were resting the team in place, waiting for your return.”

Xiang Ying hadn’t even asked yet when Scar Face turned around, his rough voice warmly informing her:

“The three kids are fine too; soone is keeping them entertained, and none of them cried.”

Xiang Ying revealed a smile: “That’s good, then.”

Seeing her smile, Scar Face hastily withdrew his gaze, awkwardly coughing a few tis.

Conversely, the cold Jie Chen looked back: “She is no longer the elder princess, mind your address.”

Scar Face was taken aback, his voice dropping: “Yes… Criminal Xiang Ying.”

But sothing was off. How did he get the sense that they had an argunt while he was gone?
