Chapter 212: Chapter 212: Poor Child Had Too Much Sedatives

Xiang Ying did not imdiately extend a helping hand.

The moonlight illuminated the shock in her eyes, and Pei Qinglin watched helplessly as Xiang Ying took two steps back.

“Mr. Wang?!”

While calling out Xiang Ying’s na, he and his companion slashed at the poisonous snakes swarming up with their swords.

The next second, eerie flas burst from the cave entrance.

When Pei Qinglin looked up again, he saw that Xiang Ying had already lit a torch.

She stood at the entrance, gazing downward, the flas jumping in her phoenix eyes, her previous surprise having turned into a pitch-black calm.

Pei Qinglin exclaid in astonishnt, “Mr. Wang, what are you planning to do?!”

Xiang Ying did not answer, instead, she flung the torch directly into the pit of snakes.

Imdiately afterward, she threw several lit cloths into it as well.

In that mont, the inside of the snake pit blazed brightly, with orange-red flas rolling upward, sending waves of heat surging.

The previously ferocious snakes, which were advancing aggressively, recoiled as if they had hit an invisible yet scorching hot wall.

Pei Qinglin used his arms to cover against the flying sparks.

The next second, a rope was thrown down.

“General Pei, hurry and climb up now!” Xiang Ying finally spoke.

Without hesitation, Pei Qinglin first tied the rope around the wounded soldiers.

It was sowhat strenuous for Xiang Ying to pull alone.

Fortunately, Xiang Yuanlang arrived with a tiger to help.

The little one didn’t have much strength but participated eagerly, pulling at the hem of Xiang Ying’s clothes with all his might.

The end of the rope was tied to the tiger’s left arm.

With their collective effort, they finally managed to pull Pei Qinglin and the remaining soldiers out of the snake pit.

The nearby soldiers had already rushed over.

The man who had been bitten by the snake lay on the ground, groaning in pain.

Xiang Ying hastily set up a fire and glanced at his wound, her brow furrowing instantly.

Dark purple was spreading near two bloody holes on the man’s lower leg.

Xiang Ying’s phoenix eyes darkened: “He was bitten by a venomous snake.”

Xiang Yuanlang, holding onto the hem of Xiang Ying’s clothing, spoke up with his delicate and calm face, “It was a Seven-step Snake.”

The people around gasped in shock.

As the na implied, a bite from a Seven-step Snake ant death within seven steps.

Without any hesitation, Pei Qinglin knelt down to suck the venom out of the wounded soldier’s blood.

He refused to give up, even though he himself was a high-ranking general, he always placed the lives and deaths of his soldiers as his foremost priority.

“Xiaoqi, hold on!”

Pei Qinglin sucked out several mouthfuls of black blood, but the injured soldier’s chest burned increasingly as if he was about to die.

“General, leave ,” Xiaoqi weakly shook his head, “It’s my fault for recklessly suggesting traveling at night, leading everyone to fall into this pit of snakes. It’s well deserved that I got bitten.”

While speaking, he tremblingly drew a talisman from his chest.

“Please take this back to the Capital for , give it to my mother, and tell her… tell her I’m not coming back…”

Pei Qinglin firmly grasped his hand, his eyes reddening: “Shut up! Don’t talk like that, I will never give up on you.”

Xiang Ying really did not want to watch their pitiful parting anymore.

She had a serum in her possession, just one injection would work, saving the life of this soldier called Xiaoqi.

But how could she take it out in front of so many people?

Xiang Ying glanced at Pei Qinglin: “I do know of a dicinal Herb that can save his life, and it should be found nearby. However, it is difficult to search for it in the dark. If the general is willing to lead people to find it, I can have my son guide you. He recognizes this herb.”

Xiang Yuanlang lifted his cool eyes.

His dark eyes revealed a large question mark.

A glint of hope ignited in Pei Qinglin’s eyes as he quickly stood up.

“Please Mr. Wang, lend your aid to save him, I am forever grateful!”

Xiang Ying gave Xiang Yuanlang a look: “Second son, take them around to search, I’ll stay and help him squeeze out the poison blood.”

Fortunately, Xiang Yuanlang was an extrely clever child.

Although he was speechless, he clearly understood what Xiang Ying wanted him to do.

The little fellow climbed onto the tiger’s back, like a formidable little general.

He waved his hand: “Follow and look around.”

Pei Qinglin thanked Xiang Ying and then led the remaining people to the vicinity.

After watching them leave, Xiang Ying approached Xiaoqi.

He looked as if he was nearly done for.

The so-called Seven-step Snake isn’t actually about falling after seven steps. It describes how this potent poison can kill a person within rely a few minutes.

Xiang Ying took his pulse, checking his physical condition.

His pulse was weak, almost imperceptible, but seeing that Xiaoqi could still speak autonomously, it seed the toxin hadn’t damaged his central nervous system.

If that was the case, it should be manageable.

Xiang Ying instructed: “Don’t move, I’ll get you so clean water.”

She improvised with what was on hand, picking a large leaf, wiped it off, and rolled it up as a temporary funnel.

Xiang Ying took out a bottle of sedatives from her space, mixed it with water, and poured it into the leaf.

Yet, as she poured the powdered sedative, her hand trembled and she accidentally added too much.

Xiang Ying silently glanced at Xiaoqi.

Xiaoqi, unaware, still thanked her with teary eyes.

“Mr. Wang, previously I suspected you of harboring ill-intentions, truly a case of a petty mind! If I have a chance to live, from hereafter you will be my life-saving benefactor, my rebirth parent!”

Suppressing her urge to laugh, Xiang Ying nodded perfunctorily: “Good boy, drink so water, it’ll feel better, don’t worry, the dicine will work soon.”

Xiaoqi dropped his guard and drank all the heavy-duty sedative Xiang Ying mixed.

The amount was enough to make him sleep for two days.

But Xiang Ying thought it shouldn’t be much of an issue.

Just seconds after Xiaoqi drank it, his voice gradually softened and then he closed his eyes, imdiately falling into a deep sleep.

Xiang Ying felt his pulse.

Confirming he was just sedated by the drug, not killed by it, only then she took out the antidote from her space.

When Pei Qinglin, carrying dicinal Herbs hurried back, he found Xiaoqi with his eyes closed and Xiang Ying sitting by his head, hugging her legs.

He stumbled, then knelt down on one knee.

Xiang Ying was stunned.

What is our big brother doing?

Pei Qinglin’s eyes were red, his voice hoarse: “I am sorry, I ca back late… Mr. Wang, did Xiaoqi leave any last words?”

The surrounding soldiers, hearing this, also showed disheveled crying faces, wailing sadly for “Xiaoqi.”

As Xiang Ying was about to explain, Xiaoqi emitted so faint snoring sounds.

This sound abruptly checked the crying of General Pei and the other soldiers.

Pei Qinglin, unable to believe his own ears, quickly stood up and placed his fingers under Xiaoqi’s nose to check.

He looked at Xiang Ying excitedly: “He’s not dead?”

Xiang Ying nodded: “He got bitten by a venomous snake and is too weak, General, your crying was premature.”

Rembering his own lapse just then, Pei Qinglin embarrassedly coughed lightly and quickly handed over the dicinal Herbs.

“This is the dicinal Herb the Second Son led us to find. Mr. Wang, please administer it to Xiaoqi quickly.”

Xiang Ying took them, her smile freezing on her lips.

She discreetly pulled Xiang Yuanlang to the side, turning her back under the pretext of grinding the herbs.

“Second son, did you tell them this was the antidote?”

Xiang Yuanlang nodded matter-of-factly: “I didn’t know what dicinal herb you were talking about, but I guessed you just wanted to help find anything to keep them occupied, so this is what I pointed to at random.”

Xiang Ying pinched the bridge of her nose: “Let’s hope General and the others don’t recognize what sweet potato vines look like, otherwise, we’re exposed.”
