Once the noise of falling debris subsided, it was clear that the hole only appeared in the spot Mira had told them to, specifically right above the stairs. When Mira examined the hole, she also noticed that it did not look like it had been broken, but there was a clean cut all around.
Sohow, Cecilia had cut through the stone with her sword, showing just how excellent her abilities were.
Nirvana had really sent their best knights with the assault platoon, ready to deal with a dangerous organization like those assassins.
“There it is! Let’s jump ow!”
While Mira admired the cut rock, the First Lieutenant jumped down through the hole, followed by a lady in deep blue armor.
As soon as she landed, she ran up to Mira.
“Thank you so much for your assistance in this…umm…huh?”
After a quick bow, she finally got a good look at Mira, which made her stamr and look confused. Despite her magnificent knight armor, she was still a countryside villager at heart, so her evident confusion gave her a peculiar cuteness.
“What? Is there sothing on my face?”
“Ah, please excuse my actions. It’s just that I was told you’re the Spirit Queen, but you don’t look quite like I was expecting…”
She quickly straightened her back and apologized for her reaction when Mira pointed that out. With all the rumors going around, she had expected Mira to have silver hair and wear a magical girl dress, which were the two things Mira had changed for her current disguise.
“Ohhh I get it now. I actually put on this disguise to sneak all the way here without letting them suspect who I was, so they were easy prey for my summons.”
Mira quickly ca up with an excuse for it that would make her look better. Then again, the result would have been largely the sa even if they knew she was the Spirit Queen.
“I see, that’s very impressive.”
The lady instantly believed Mira’s idiotic story, and then seed to recall sothing else as she straightened her back and introduced herself. “I’m Cecilia, appointed as commander of the assault platoon. It’s my pleasure to make your acquaintance.”
“I’m Mira. As you already know, I’m also commonly called the Spirit Queen.”
Mira also introduced herself, while taking back the dal from the First Lieutenant and storing it in her Item Box. That act also served to prove her identity.
“Sorry to cut things short, but where are the boss and his n?!”
The First Lieutenant also tried to say “And I’m…” but Cecilia talked over him, her eyes full with determination. She was still a knight on a mission, so securing those n was her main priority. As soon as Mira said, “In that room over there,” Cecilia excused herself and ran there.
“What a hardworking girl.”
Mira nodded to herself as she said that, then followed after her. Behind them was the First Lieutenant who had been robbed of his spotlight and mumbled sothing to himself.
“I’m nothing but a shadow, sotis as a servant, sotis as a thief, but always living in the darkness and fated to die in obscurity…ow…”
There was no one looking at him, clad in his ninja master attire. The sign he carried also read ‘One with the shadows,’ as he trotted after Mira and Cecilia.
“Hyaaahhhhh!!”
Cecilia’s scream echoed through the basent. She had gone ahead to check on the restrained n, and seemingly had encountered sothing there.
“What happened?”
Mira looked into the room to see what had happened, and saw Cecilia standing with her sword unsheathed in front of a Dark Knight. Now they were standing still, with Cecilia looking around awkwardly.
That was enough for Mira to understand what had happened.
The boss and his n were all tied and piled up in the center of the room, surrounded by multiple Dark Knights in case sothing happened.
From a cursory glance, that made it look like so sort of wicked ritual with human sacrifices. Mira had also given the Dark Knights orders to face anyone who entered the room.
So it was understandable for Cecilia to be startled once she got there.
“Umm…I’m sorry…it’s nothing…”
The shock wore off quickly as she sheathed her sword and began examining the n on the floor, trying to act like nothing had happened.
“Hmm, if you say so.”
Mira also decided not to torture Cecilia any further and pretended she had not heard or seen anything. That would have been the end of it…if it was not for soone who could not read the room at all.
“A maiden’s cry is the call for a hero! The warrior of justice Cait Sith will always co to your rescue ow!”
The First Lieutenant, who sohow had found the ti to change from his ninja attire into a superhero suit, leaped into the room, landing with an exaggerated pose and an overconfident grin.
A mont later, just as he was asking “Milady, what troubles you?” he was enveloped in light and vanished.
Cecilia looked back, unsure of how to react to all that, and Mira just shook her head awkwardly.
All of the n were still knocked out cold, so Cecilia swiftly checked their clothes for any concealed weapons and took off their masks to see who they were. The way she moved suggested that she was quite used to searching people like that.
“No way… Jorg?”
After going through the lower ranking assassins, she gasped in shock when she finally unmasked the boss, whose face still looked roughed up from Mira’s treatnt.
“Do you know who this man is?”
Since Cecilia seed to know the man’s na, Mira began to wonder if it could be soone famous. Cecilia took a mont to think of an appropriate response, eventually saying, “Yes, we already suspected he was part of a certain organization.”
“An organization? Does that an this whole mansion was one of their bases then?”
It sounded like they were not just a group of assassins, but part of an even bigger organization. That piqued Mira’s interest, but Cecilia stopped her before she could ask more questions.
“This is sothing Lady Esralda wanted to tell you directly as soon as possible. And that happens to be another of my objectives here. I’m tasked with bringing you to et Lady Esralda once we’re done cleaning up here.”
It was already clear that Cecilia would not take too long to finish her investigation there, so she had also been tasked with bringing Mira to the palace.
“I understand you’re a very busy person, but could you take so ti to co with ? I’m sure there’s also a reward ready and they’ll also serve you a luxurious dinner.”
Cecilia had seed like a seasoned investigator when checking the restrained n, but that appearance quickly vanished.
She seed almost worried that Mira would not want to follow her, and she desperately wanted to fulfill Esralda’s special orders. She even insisted that she would help Mira with anything she wanted if it ant they would go to the palace together.
“Calm down, I just have to go to the palace, right? I can do that, don’t worry.”
Mira had already been planning on visiting the palace for her own reasons, as she wanted access to the tournant registration forms to find ilin, so she happily agreed to go with Cecilia.
“Thank you, thank you so much!”
Cecilia’s face lit up with imnse joy hearing that. Then she called her second in command, who would be in charge of wrapping up their investigation while Cecilia left on her other important mission. Hearing that, the second in command also seed relieved and politely thanked Mira.
They all seed to take Esralda’s special orders very seriously.
