Chapter 25: Chapter 0025 Watching Drama is Really Interesting

“Knowing I can’t be forced but can be coaxed, you treat so well that I feel guilty and promise to behave better and cause less trouble.

Hey, Huo Tingxiao, I an, you really don’t have to do this, just speak up directly.

I’m not that sensitive, you know, I promise I won’t do anything this stupid again.

So, you just do what you need to do, there’s no need for all this… extravagance.”

Mu Lan’s words made Huo Tingxiao’s face turn completely dark.

Extravagance?

...

Sensing that the atmosphere was off, Mu Lan felt she might have been too blunt and hurriedly tried to patch things up.

“Uh, no no, I an… just be sincere, that’s all.”

So she ant he was being pretentious, not genuine?

Seeing his expression worsen, Mu Lan wanted to pull her hair out.

“I…”

Huo Tingxiao, fearing what she might say next could infuriate him to the point of vomiting blood, stood up and went to his study.

Mu Lan’s face turned bitter, she froze there in a “Erkang” hand pose, mad at herself for not being able to say anything nice.

Huo Tingxiao really was petty, ignoring her like she didn’t exist for two whole days.

Forget about massaging her feet, he didn’t even bother to ask how her recovery was going.

On the third day, Mu Lan went to the hospital for a check-up alone and ran into Shen Zichu, who teased her rcilessly.

“Yo, why did sister-in-law co alone? Where’s Tingxiao? That’s too much, not coming with you. I’ll have to speak to him.”

“Dr. Shen, no no no, it’s just a minor injury, my foot is almost healed, it’s really no big deal.”

“But that’s not the point.”

Shen Zichu, seeing her sowhat embarrassed expression, smiled even more gleefully, his wickedly raised eyebrows framing a devilishly handso face.

“Could it be that you two had a squabble? Otherwise, there’s no reason for you to co alone.”

Mu Lan jolted, wondering if this Shen could read minds or tell fortunes, hitting the nail on the head with each word.

“Dr. Shen, you really love to joke. What squabble could we possibly have? He’s just really busy these days, so it’s totally normal for him not to have ti.”

“Oh, is that so?”

Shen Zichu didn’t say anything else, just kept looking at Mu Lan, making her skin crawl.

“Sister-in-law, don’t mind my frankness, Tingxiao is not one to spout sweet nothings, but he doesn’t skimp on what needs to be done. Sotis a woman needs to act a bit coy, it won’t hurt.”

What, suggesting she act coy with Huo Tingxiao? She’d rather die quicker.

“Thanks for the suggestion, Dr. Shen, I’ll consider it.”

“I happen to be free today, how about I take you out for dinner?”

“You really don’t have to be so polite…”

“There’s a good Japanese restaurant nearby, they air-freight their sea urchins and king crabs, really fresh.”

“Really? Where is it?”

Mu Lan’s mouth twitched, wishing she could smack herself. Are you really craving their sea urchin?

Shen Zichu almost laughed out loud, realizing only now that Mu Lan was quite the food enthusiast.

It’s strange. Mu Lan had been married to Huo Tingxiao for seven years, and Shen Zichu, being Huo Tingxiao’s close childhood friend, was having a one-on-one al with Mu Lan for the first ti. They seldom t before; she lived a secluded life, never showing up at private gatherings, and had virtually no interaction with Huo Tingxiao’s circle of friends.

Back then, their impressions of her were not particularly favorable.

The Japanese restaurant wasn’t very big, but it was tastefully decorated and the ingredients were of high quality. Shen Zichu was a VIP, no need for reservations; he could dine there anyti he wished.

Although Mu Lan was a young lady of the Mu Family, she was raised in a free-spirited environnt and actually had a quite wild nature. She had only learned those essential courses for a young lady because of Huo Tingxiao.

“Hmm, this sea urchin is no worse than the ones at Tsukiji Market, very fresh.”

Shen Zichu raised an eyebrow. Tsukiji Market? She had actually been to such a place?

The young ladies he knew would only stay in upscale restaurants, dining elegantly—asking them to go to a wholesale market? The sun might as well rise from the west.

“You’ve actually wandered around a place like Tsukiji Market?”

“Aye, you’ve got it all wrong, the Tsukiji Market has so many delicious things. If you’ve been to Tokyo, it would be weird not to visit it.

To watch the tuna auction, Gu Xiaoman and I stayed up all night and hurried over at 2 a.m., waiting for the auction to start.

Back then, we even bought a tuna, you wouldn’t believe how delicious the at was.

I really want to go again, that freshness, truly, once you eat it, you’ll never forget.”

Watching her talk about gourt food with such relish, Shen Zichu was becoming srized himself.

“Then you might be disappointed, Tsukiji Market… closed last year.”

That revelation made Mu Lan pause for a mont.

She couldn’t quite describe her feelings—now it was 2019, many things had changed in the seven years that comprised her mory gap.

Although she had been trying hard to adapt, these inadvertent reminders always told her that many things were no longer the sa.

“Sorry, I didn’t an to dampen your spirits, it’s just…”

“It’s nothing, I understand all feasts must co to an end, but at least I have many beautiful mories. It’s just a bit of a pity, that’s all.”

Mu Lan’s mood ca quickly and went quickly, never dwelling on things, quite free-spirited.

Shen Zichu had never expected to see this side of Mu Lan.

She really did seem to possess an effortless charm that was inherently likable; he could sowhat understand why Huo Tingxiao had suddenly changed.

As the two of them were enjoying their al, a waiter opened the private room door to serve dishes, and unfortunately, one of Shen Zichu’s admirers saw them and stord in furiously to confront him.

“Shen Zichu, have you been rejecting my invitations just for this woman?”

Mu Lan was nibbling on a king crab leg, caught between whether to continue eating or not.

Wow, what an unexpected turn of events!

“How co you are here?”

“Why do you care? Explain to , who is this woman?”

Shen Zichu was really frustrated, not knowing how he had attracted Liu Na’s unwanted attention. Fate truly was cruel to let this happen now.

“You’re nothing to , why should I explain anything to you?”

By this point, any woman with a sense of sha would know when to back off.

But Liu Na had always been spoiled and arrogant, her family’s wealth making her feel entitled; she definitely wouldn’t accept Shen Zichu’s dismissal.

“You’re the man I have my eyes on, should I just turn a blind eye when soone tries to steal you away?

Who do you think you are? You can’t even dream about laying a finger on Shen Zichu, let tell you.”

Mu Lan looked totally innocent, wondering how this had anything to do with her.

She was just there for the food.

Besides, with Shen Zichu’s playboy look that always seed popular with the ladies, she wasn’t blind to pursue soone like him.

“Shen Zichu, I didn’t expect your romantic affairs to be so flourishing.”

Indeed, what goes around cos around, he was ant to be the one enjoying the show, yet now he had beco the subject of entertainnt himself.
