Chapter 245: Chapter 0245 This Damned Heartthrob (1) Chapter 245: Chapter 0245 This Damned Heartthrob (1) Huo Tingxiao raised his eyebrows, feeling underestimated.

He had good learning and practical abilities; how could he not be capable of cooking?

Wasn’t it just about heating the oil, tossing ingredients in, stirring them around, and adding various seasonings? How hard could it be.

He rolled up the sleeves of his bathrobe a few folds, revealing a section of his arm, and ticulously peeled and washed the bok choy hearts he had taken out.

Seeing him so earnestly cooking for the first ti, Mu Lan crossed her arms in front of her chest and leaned against the door fra, waiting to see his masterpiece.

Huo Tingxiao wasn’t skilled in the kitchen, and though he knew the process by heart, his lack of experience was revealed as soon as he started cutting the ingredients.

Witnessing his uneven chopping—so pieces big, so small—Mu Lan couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh.

Huo Tingxiao’s ears reddened instantly, and he looked at her sowhat embarrassedly.

“Stop laughing…”

Mu Lan couldn’t bear to see his clumsy efforts and wanted to help. But as soon as she took a step forward, Huo Tingxiao refused her.

He declared righteously,

“Don’t co over, I’ve got the kitchen to myself today.”

Mu Lan raised her eyebrows and continued to watch him bustling around.

As he heated the oil and added the washed vegetables to the pan, oil splatters burst forth, splashing onto Huo Tingxiao’s arm. He bounced around as though his feet were on springs.

Looking both comical and pitiable, Mu Lan couldn’t take it anymore and started to direct him.

“Use the lid to shield from the oil. What am I supposed to eat, fried human flesh?”

Huo Tingxiao obediently held the pan lid in one hand and the spatula in the other, haphazardly wielding them. Fortunately, he recognized the spices and casually added them, though the amounts were anyone’s guess. However, he was very confident, appearing every bit the professional chef.

As for the final product of the so-called chef…

Huo Tingxiao looked at the burnt dish, his brows furrowing deeply.

He turned towards the doorway and noticed that Mu Lan was no longer there, which made him feel a bit lost.

He turned his gaze back to the dish that was a total failure, thinking about throwing it away when a familiar voice sounded from behind him.

“Is it done?”

Huo Tingxiao didn’t dare to look at her, feeling a bit embarrassed.

“Well… it’s not quite successful.”

Mu Lan glanced at the dish, which looked dreadful, and thought that eating it might lead to poisoning.

Huo Tingxiao sighed and then noticed the tube of dicine in her hands. On closer inspection, it was burn cream.

So she had gone to get dicine for him. In her heart, she still cared about him.

Feeling touched, he looked up at her, his eyes as deep as whirlpools, drawing her in.

Mu Lan unscrewed the tube and gently applied the dicine with her ring finger.

Seeing a few reddened spots from the burn on his arm, Mu Lan couldn’t help but furrow her brows. Why did the lord who never cooked feel the need to show off now?

The distance between them was close, so with a slight tilt of his head, Huo Tingxiao could see her long eyelashes casting shadows with each flutter.

Her application of the dicine was very gentle, occasionally blowing softly on his arm, the feather-like sensation sweeping over his skin, making Huo Tingxiao’s heart lt.

With such tender care, he would happily endure not just a few splashes of oil, but even if his hand were deep-fried.

“You don’t know how to cook but still insist on showing off. Luckily, it didn’t blister.”

Mu Lan’s voice carried a hint of scolding, and Huo Tingxiao smiled like a silly dog, not talking back, but allowing her to chide him.

Seeing him so compliant, Mu Lan couldn’t resist looking up at Huo Tingxiao, only to see him grinning foolishly at her.

“Why the grin? I’m talking about you, and you still smile.”

Huo Tingxiao suddenly propped his chin on her shoulder crevice, his arms hovering in the air because he was afraid of saring the ointnt on her, just holding steady like that.

“You care about ,” he said.

Mu Lan subconsciously pushed him away, creating so distance between them to avoid the question, and shifted the topic:

“With the way you’ve cooked the vegetables, do you think this late-night snack is still edible?”

Huo Tingxiao chuckled awkwardly.

“Otherwise, shall we go out to eat?” he suggested.

Mu Lan looked at Huo Tingxiao in surprise. Did he know what ti it was? Go out to eat? At this hour, only food stalls and small eateries were open, the nicer restaurants had already closed. Could it be that he, so refined, actually wanted

“Now? At this ti, we can only eat barbecue, are you sure?” she asked.

Huo Tingxiao seed to think that the barbecue suggestion wasn’t bad and nodded.

“Then let’s go for barbecue,” he said.

Mu Lan instinctively glanced at the fridge, well aware that there must be raw noodles inside, which she could just cook to solve the issue.

But…

As if possessed by a demon, she found herself sowhat tempted by Huo Tingxiao’s suggestion because, in her mory, they had never gone out for a midnight snack in the middle of the night before.

Seeing her hesitate, Huo Tingxiao knew she was interested and quickly struck while the iron was hot.

“Go change into sothing more comfortable, and let’s head out,” he urged.

Soon after changing, the two of them got into Yun Xi’s regularly driven Cayenne, one after the other. As soon as Mu Lan sat in the passenger seat, Huo Tingxiao naturally pulled over her seat belt, and the sudden closeness froze her, not daring to move.

She could only blink chanically, looking at the handso face so close in front of her.

“I… I can do it myself,” she muttered.

Huo Tingxiao looked up, his eyes filled with a smile.

His gaze was too intense, almost too much to look into, causing Mu Lan to instinctively look away.

With a “click,” the seat belt locked in place, and Huo Tingxiao also sat upright, allowing Mu Lan to silently let out a sigh of relief.

Once the car started, they left Maple Forest Garden. Mu Lan gave Huo Tingxiao an address, a barbecue restaurant she used to frequent with Gu Xiaoman during college. The owners were a young couple from the northeast. After graduating, she rarely went there, only occasionally with Gu Xiaoman.

This ti, bringing a man along caused the lady owner to tease:

“Oh my, this must be my brother-in-law, and he’s insanely handso!”

Huo Tingxiao wasn’t used to such enthusiasm from others, so he just nodded politely.

Mu Lan, on the other hand, looked around, a bit embarrassed.

“Do you have any tables inside?” she asked the lady owner.

“Inside? No, it’s full. Sis, can you make do with an outdoor table for now? When there’s space, I’ll move you inside. I’ll treat you to a plate of edama to make it up,” the lady owner offered with savvy hospitality.

Mu Lan nodded with a smile, acknowledging her generosity.

“Sure.”

The superior appearance of the two attracted the attention of the surrounding custors in such a small storefront, but they remained aloof, not minding at all.

Mu Lan glanced at the nu on the table, slid it toward Huo Tingxiao, then picked up a notepad and pen.

“What would you like to eat?” she asked.

It was Huo Tingxiao’s first ti seeing a restaurant where you had to write your own order tags, with the dish nas at the front and quantities at the back.

“Anything is fine with ,” he replied.

Mu Lan twirled the pen nimbly in her hand, bending over to examine the nu closely.

Huo Tingxiao watched the nimble pen tricks in her hands, amazed by how smoothly she could play with just a pen.
