"Quick, find soone to get her out of here!" Wu Yuan was in a frenzy, "The Crown Prince and Her Majesty are both here today, who knows what kind of trouble this crazy girl will cause! Don’t let it lead back to the incident that night, or we’ll all be in trouble that no one can escape from!"

As Wu Yuan spoke, he lowered his voice and threatened, "Don’t forget, the Crown Prince’s visit to the Northern Border this ti is specifically to investigate Huai Yu’s death!"

Wu Zhen beca utterly flustered, "Stop talking! With so many people around, do you want to make things even worse?!"

"Then you better take care of it quickly, and make sure it doesn’t delay our Wu Bie’s marriage!" Annoyed, Wu Yuan said his piece and then strode away, flicking his sleeves as he left.

Fearing that Huai Xini might cause so disaster, Wu Zhen imdiately got up and made her way through the crowd, coming to Huai Xini’s side as the dancers began their performance.

"Co with !" Wu Zhen said in a low voice to Huai Xini.

Seeing Huai Xini unmoved, Wu Zhen reached out to grab her hand, but was sharply shrugged off, "Have you gone mad?!"

Huai Xini looked at Wu Zhen with eyes filled with coldness, "Wu Zhen, what exactly are you afraid of?"

She pointed in the direction of the banquet.

"Who has co to the Marquis Residence today?" She was no fool, realizing the reason for Wu Zhen’s fear of her appearing before the guests must be due to the arrival of so distinguished visitors.

Wu Zhen’s face darkened, "Don’t be ungrateful and push your luck, Huai Xini. Great figures have visited our residence today, not to be easily offended. You better be aware of this and not cause any trouble for the Marquis Residence!"

"Although I don’t know how you managed to resurrect, this is the place that brought you up after all. Things were different before but now, co with . I will tell you everything that has happened during this ti," Wu Zhen said, trying to persuade her.

Huai Xini looked at Wu Zhen’s face obscured in the darkness, absorbing the words from her mouth.

Her heart was filled with nothing but hatred.

"If I go with you, will I still have a life left to co out?... Wu Zhen, do you think I’m a fool just because I haven’t spoken? Do you really think I’ve co all this way just to thank you for your ’kindness’?" The already pale Huai Xini’s face twisted with fury.

"I spoke to you kindly knowing that you’ve suffered out there, but don’t be ungrateful, Huai Xini. I’ve tried diplomacy, now for the stick. If you continue to make a scene, I’ll call soone to restrain you," Wu Zhen said with a grim expression.

Seeing Huai Xini’s eyes turn blood-red, Wu Zhen simply gestured for assistance. Servants imdiately started to rush towards them.

Huai Xini had not co this far only to stand still and be captured easily.

So, she dashed into the crowd, flipped over a table of food right in front of Wu Zhen, and then provocatively curled her lip.

As Wu Zhen saw this unfold, she pointed at Huai Xini with trembling fingers, "Go, capture her! Quickly!"

Luckily, the music of the silk and bamboo-covered up the commotion, causing only a slight stir amongst the crowd.

Seeing the servants approaching from all sides, Huai Xini knew she couldn’t just randomly run about, she had to move upward.

She was very curious to see who exactly had co to the Marquis Residence today!

A person of such stature that could make the entire Wu Family bow down like subordinates, intrigued her greatly!

Huai Xini kicked towards a noble’s buttocks, propelling the person straight onto the servants, who, fearing harm to the noble, could only stand there helplessly as human cushions.

Having recently recovered from a severe illness, yet taking advantage of her slender fra, Huai Xini threaded through the crowd, taunting the Marquis Residence’s servants and causing a complete ss at the banquet.

The nobles were not blind and, noticing that the young mistress of the Marquis Residence had seemingly co back from the dead and was now being pursued by Lady Wu, they began to signal each other, starting to block Huai Xini’s escape routes.

Gradually, Huai Xini was cornered in the center of the crowd.

She looked at these people who used to follow her every command; now, they all wanted her dead. She found it hilariously ironic.

"You’re all the sa kind! The entire Northern Border is full of the sa kind—" Huai Xini laughed loudly and hysterically, her voice sharp and manic.

Wu Zhen watched anxiously.

"Gag her mouth!" the voice ordered, urgent that the Crown Prince must not hear.

Yet, things never went as planned.

Even though everyone wrapped Huai Xini up, fearing that she would be seen by the high-seated Crown Prince, they still heard that deep voice carrying the authority of the Imperial Family.

"What are you doing!"

The voice cascaded down from above, frightening everyone into stepping aside and clearing a space.

Huai Xini followed the voice and saw a tall man in a black robe, hair tied up high, a face as handso as jade, with red lips and white teeth, and when his dark eyes landed on her, she felt as if the world had stopped.

Xiao Pingfeng looked down with a cold expression.

"I’m asking you, what are you doing."

He didn’t even bother to use an interrogative tone.

Wu Zhen felt as if her features were about to scatter from terror, and just as she was about to step forward and speak, she saw Huai Xini recklessly push her way through the servants and head straight for Xiao Pingfeng!

Everyone’s hearts leaped into their throats!

This mistress of the Marquis Residence couldn’t possibly be aiming to assassinate the Crown Prince, could she!

Yet before Huai Xini could even touch Xiao Pingfeng’s robe, several iron swords were already placed at her throat.

Huai Xini’s spine was covered in goosebumps.

"...Spare, spare my life!"

Huai Xini didn’t dare to move.

Before her, the dignified god-like man made her instinctively want to kneel down and worship.

"The Crown Prince is really fierce, scaring her like that," a coquettish voice ca from behind, and Huai Xini imdiately looked up—she saw a fair-skinned woman in a bright red dress, with shoulders bared, looking extrely seductive.

She leaned into Xiao Pingfeng’s embrace as if she had no bones.

Xiao Pingfeng greatly appreciated her posture and tone, his stern eyebrows softening a bit.

"Scared into obedience now?"

Yan Wanqing clasped her chest, "Your Highness, you mustn’t be so fierce, it’s truly frightening. Look at how Mrs. Wu and the others have been scared."

The people below mostly had pale faces, their gazes uncertainly drifting toward Huai Xini, fearing that she would blurt out sothing catastrophic.

A glint of profound aning flashed through Yan Wanqing’s eyes.

"Who is this lady?" she asked lightly, looking towards Huai Xini.

From their conversation, Huai Xini learned that this man was the very Crown Prince whom the entire court awaited to ascend the throne and take the king’s place!

She was utterly shocked.

For a mont, she stood there foolishly, not moving an inch.

This gave Wu Zhen a sliver of opportunity.

"Reporting to Your Highness, this is the young mistress of our Marquis Residence. She injured her head a while back and has been a bit deranged since. Today, during the banquet, the servants were all busy helping out, and she managed to slip out by accident, disturbing the Crown Prince and Your Highness. This is a grave fault of our Marquis Residence!" Wu Zhen grew more sincere with each word, stepped forward, and knelt down directly, full of self-reproach, "Please, Your Highnesses, punish us! Otherwise, this servant’s heart will not be at peace!"
