Raina North gave him a cold once-over, raised an eyebrow, and retorted, "Digging up old debts?"

Jonah Rivers chuckled, walked over to the liquor cabinet, poured two glasses of strong spirits, and sat down across from Raina.

Crossing his legs, he looked as elegant as a young nobleman. He took a sip of his drink and said, "You know you left behind a bunch of debts when you suddenly took off back then? Even if I don’t dig them up, others will."

Raina was nonchalant, "You think I’m scared?"

Those who couldn’t defeat her then surely wouldn’t be able to now, just a few years later.

Jonah loved her self-confident, arrogant attitude, her disdain for everything, which provoked a strong desire in him to conquer her.

At first, he rely wanted to conquer her, but later, things changed.

This woman was like a seed, silently buried in his heart, taking root without him realizing it, and by the ti he noticed, it had already grown.

But in their line of work, having a heart was never an option.

"How could the Queen of the Umbral Zone, The Rakshasa, ever be scared!" Jonah remarked, "But about the Revitalizing Pill you ntioned, I happen to know it’s going to be auctioned off at the Dark Tower’s auction in three days."

Raina furrowed her brows, thinking about her grievances with the Dark Tower. It was troubleso that the Revitalizing Pill ended up in their hands.

"Auctions are a mix of dragons and fish, and it’s too much of a target, not good. Can you arrange a private deal with the Dark Tower’s manager for ?" Raina paused and added, "Oh, and when I left in a hurry back then, you didn’t swindle away all my assets and property, did you?"

Jonah froze for a mont, getting quite exasperated.

She treated him like a servant, yet doubted his integrity at the sa ti.

And she did it so righteously.

"Relax, it’s all intact."

Raina imdiately heaved a sigh of relief, crossing her legs and enjoying her drink. She looked quite smug: "That’s good, it’s the empire I built."

Jonah: "..."

Sure enough, no matter how much ti passed, Raina was still Raina.

"So, Your Majesty, shouldn’t you go and et your people?"

"No rush," Raina said provocatively.

"Go ahead and be smug. When that guy knows you’re back, you’ll be the one crying." Jonah said viciously; that guy wasn’t as easygoing as he was.

But she deserved it, for knowing how to be heartless yet still flirting around.

The key was she flirted, didn’t take responsibility, and left without a second thought, typical of a woman who starts things without finishing them.

Yet she had such an innocent face, so non-threatening, making everyone believe they had entered a maiden’s heart, without knowing they’d entered a scoundrel’s fish pond.

And that man was undoubtedly the big shark in the pond.

Raina’s expression froze, casting a resentful glance at Jonah: "It’s all your fault, reminding of childhood shadows."

Jonah laughed coldly, indifferent to soone’s attempt at playing innocent.

Raina rubbed her temples, which is why she didn’t want to return to the Umbral Zone.

"You hurry up and contact the Dark Tower people."

The imdiate plan was to quickly get the Revitalizing Pill and make a swift exit.

Jonah took a deep breath, suppressing the urge to strangle this woman, and resigned himself to running her errands.

But soon he returned with a serious expression.

"What happened?"

"There’s a bit of a situation, the manager from the Dark Tower said he can’t make the decision."

Raina raised an eyebrow, "Trying to drive up the price?"

The Umbral Zone is a place without rules; if you fancy sothing and the price is right, it’s common to deal under the table.

"No, it’s because the Lord of the Dark Tower has returned."

Raina: "..."
