"Your mommy isn’t feeling well," Elias said, speaking nonsense with a straight face.

"Mommy, what’s wrong?" Casper and Shea looked at her with worried faces.

"I’m not..."

Raina wanted to say she was fine, but Elias cut her off.

"Your mommy was poisoned. The poison is cleared, but she’s still a bit weak from the aftereffects."

Raina: "..."

"Poisoned???" Old Mrs. Hawthorne, not as quick on her feet as the kids, walked in slowly and heard what her grandson said, her face imdiately changing.

"Is Raina okay? Baby is still lying in bed, and now Raina’s in trouble too. Who the hell holds a grudge against our Hawthorne Family!"

Feeling awkward, Raina touched her nose.

Aidan took the opportunity to discuss the evening’s events with Old Mrs. Hawthorne and quietly asked if they should bail Vincent Hawthorne out.

"Bail him out? The guy’s aging but not wising up. Let him stay in the detention center if a woman can make him lose his sense of direction. Aidan, call the station and let them handle it as they see fit. No special treatnt for that old scoundrel."

"Isn’t that a bit harsh? I heard the old man took quite a beating, and the detention center isn’t exactly a hospital." Jasper Hawthorne, having gotten the news, arrived after a woman called him. He didn’t want to care, but couldn’t bring himself to be heartless.

"Serves him right!" Old Mrs. Hawthorne retorted, glaring at Jasper, "Doesn’t he have a wife? What’s it to you? Are you lacking sleep or als, wanting to join that old scoundrel to face the wind? Get back to bed."

Jasper was imdiately scolded back.

Old Mrs. Hawthorne, after a round of venting, looked down to see two adorable little kids staring at her in awe.

Shea: "Grandma Zane, you’re so mighty and domineering."

Master North: "Cool!"

Old Mrs. Hawthorne puffed out her chest with pride, tempted to pat the little ones on the head, then turned to see her eldest grandson still standing there awkwardly.

"What are you standing there like a fool for? You know Raina’s not well, so why not carry her back to the room to rest? How do you even call yourself a husband, not protecting your wife from being bullied? What’s with the Hawthorne n? All of them useless, I say. They must have taken after Hawthorne instead of inheriting any good qualities from ..."

Old Mrs. Hawthorne grumbled on, increasingly convinced the Hawthorne lineage needed better genes to turn it around.

She thought highly of Raina.

Not to ntion, the two kids she had were outstanding.

After hearing Old Mrs. Hawthorne rant about whoever poisoned her, Raina nearly wanted to die. Finally, after seeing Old Mrs. Hawthorne off, she breathed a long sigh of relief.

But she forgot that in the absence of Old Mrs. Hawthorne, there were still two other troublemakers.

Master North gave Raina a thumbs-up: "Raina, you’re amazing. Went out once and sent both the witch and the scummy grandpa packing. As the saying goes, when Raina steps in, it’s phenonal."

Raina’s face turned dark: "Go to bed."

She smacked each one playfully on their behinds, their courage growing to gossip about their mother!
