"Didn’t you tell you would co back tonight?"

"I never said that." Earlier, during the day, Claire North had insinuated that she had ulterior motives and wanted to harm Baby.

Given the situation at the ti, even if she had admitted to being Ghost Doctor Nowhere, no one would have believed her. Moreover, based on her assessnt of Baby’s condition, she wasn’t even sure she could restore Baby Hawthorne to normal health.

Yet, she couldn’t put her mind at ease, so she decided to check in the middle of the night.

"Your heart told that." Elias Hawthorne stood up, his dark eyes fixed on Raina North. "What’s more, you care about Baby so much; I don’t believe you would just walk away, leaving him behind."

Raina North was montarily stunned; when she saw Elias Hawthorne’s dark eyes, she felt as if she were being scorched. "Let check on Baby first."

Raina North hurried over to the bedside.

On the bed, Baby’s beautiful face was pallid, his eyes tightly shut. If it weren’t for his chest barely rising and falling, he would look as if he were dead.

A sharp ache surged from her heart as scenes of her ti with this child flashed before her eyes like a movie.

Raina couldn’t help but clench her fists. She knew clearly that this child was born of Claire North, yet no matter how much she resented Claire, she couldn’t help but like him.

Raina took a deep breath, pulled Baby Hawthorne’s wrist over, and placed her fingers on his pulse.

It was only after ten minutes that she let go.

Elias Hawthorne asked in a low voice, "How is Baby’s condition?"

"Very bad." Raina replied honestly.

As Caleb Shaw had said, Baby’s condition was extrely dire. Suffice to say, if it weren’t for Caleb’s dical prowess and the extraordinary nature of the Antidote Serum he possessed, Baby might already be a corpse.

But even so, Baby was hanging by a thread.

Elias Hawthorne’s brows furrowed with gloom.

Raina paid no attention to Elias and took down a cloth bag tied around her waist. Inside were silver needles of various thicknesses.

Her fingertips gently brushed over the needles, deliberating for a mont before selecting one.

While disinfecting, Raina instructed Elias Hawthorne, "Undo Baby’s clothes."

Elias complied without a word.

Raina closed her eyes, and when she reopened them, they were full of determination. The silver needle in her hand struck out like lightning.

In just a mont, Baby Hawthorne’s body started to heat up, and soon, his little face was flushed red with fever.

Raina’s eyes closely watched Baby Hawthorne, constantly monitoring his condition, her fingers occasionally adjusting the series of silver needles on his body, lightly or heavily.

Baby continued to get hotter, beads of sweat burst forth in succession, quickly soaking the sheets beneath him.

Raina’s expression grew even more serious, beads of sweat appeared on her forehead, yet her gaze remained intensely focused.

Bang—

The door of the ward was suddenly pushed open.

Vincent Hawthorne ca in with Claire North as Mrs. Hawthorne entered.

He was rely concerned about Baby’s condition, intending to check on him in the middle of the night, but didn’t expect to see Raina using needles on Baby as he opened the door.

Imdiately enraged, he shouted, "Raina, what are you doing!"

"Sister, how can you treat Baby with needles without permission? You’ll kill him, stop it!" Claire cried as she lunged towards Raina.

"Stop! Don’t touch Baby!" Raina commanded sharply.

Before she even finished speaking, Elias Hawthorne had already firmly intercepted Claire.
