"You have both of their approvals?" Lilith asked with a surprised expression on her face.
Damien looked into his mother's eyes and smiled. "I know that Ariel also feels the sa way about . And as for the Prince, I had expressed my wish to marry Ariel. He didn't kick in the gut or tried to keep away from Ariel. So, I assud that he was okay if I pursued Ariel."
Lilith laughed all of a sudden while patting Damien's head. "That's my boy," she praised him. She leaned down and kissed Damien on his forehead. She looked into his beautiful grey eyes and said, "I am happy for you, my son."
Damien was happy to see that beautiful smile on his mother's face. He was, however, surprised at how readily she approved of his feelings for Ariel. "So, you aren't going to ask anything regarding how I fell for her or why or sothing like that?"
Lilith simply gave a shrug and replied, "Well, Ariel was the only girl you liked spending ti with. So, I always knew that you were going to fall in love with her at so point in your life. I am, however, happy that Ariel also felt the sa way about you."
She smiled and teased her son a little, "I am pretty sure that she didn't have any shortage of n who flocked around her. So, I am glad that out of all the pool of suitors, she chose you."
The happy smile on Damien's face turned a little sour.
Even though it was not her intention, Lilith had hit the weak spot of Damien.
"Yes, I am also glad that she chose ." Damien wiped off the sweat beads that were beginning to form on his forehead and then further said, "Else, I don't know if I would ever have been able to pull myself together."
Lilith furrowed her brows, wondering what was troubling her son when he should have been jumping with happiness.
Before she could ask questions to Damien though, he diverted the conversation, "Anyway, enough about that. I was here to talk about sothing else."
"Sothing else?" Lilith dragged a chair that was next to her and then patted it, gesturing for Damien to get up from the floor and sit there. "There's sothing more important than your recent progress with Ariel."
"It depends on you." Damien got up and went to sit down by his mother's side. He had a very serious look on his face when he said, "What I am about to say to you will probably shock you. So, please, brace yourself."
Lilith was now restless when her son put it like that. "What is it? Tell already. Did you perhaps do sothing that you are regretting now?" She thought that her son's vampire side might have acted up, and he might have attacked the humans.
Damien obviously had done a few things that he regretted. But those weren't the things that he was going to talk about at the mont. Right now, he wanted to talk about Joyce.
He looked at his mother right in her eyes, and then he asked in a little shaky voice, "Mother, do you still miss Mackenzie?"
Lilith felt a slight sting in her heart upon hearing her late daughter's na. She gave a nervous smile and then asked Damien, "Why are you suddenly asking about her?"
"Answer , first," Damien insisted.
Defeated, Lilith replied while the sadness hovered above her face, "I do miss her at tis. But I don't miss her that badly as compared to a couple of thousand years ago." She looked into her son's eyes and then asked again, "So, what is that shocking thing that you were talking about?"
"You know Joyce, right? Ariel's eldest cousin?" he asked, in order to reveal everything.
Lilith had a deep frown line between her brows because she was getting more anxious by the second. "Yes, I do recall you ntioning about her when you were little. What about her?" she asked, confused about what Damien was trying to say.
Damien took a few deep breaths in, and then held his mother's hand.
He wanted to console her from the very beginning because he knew what was about to go down the mont he would open his mouth. He then asked his mother in a very low voice, "You know how the souls keep on getting reincarnated, right?"
Lilith nodded but she also gave a skeptical look to Damien. By now, her mind had already drawn links between the things that Damien had said to her. "Don't tell that…"
Damien tightened his hold on his mother's palms and confird what she was thinking, "Yes. I recently found out that Mackenzie's soul had reincarnated. And the body that her soul resides inside now is none other than Joyce."
Lilith loosened her stiff shoulders and leaned back on her chair. The frown lines were getting deeper by the second. And her breathing was getting heavier and heavier.
She also clutched Damien's palms and pleaded with her trembling breath, "Please, tell that this isn't so kind of a joke that you are trying to play on ."
"Mom!" Damien gulped and said in a soft voice, "I would never joke about such a sensitive topic. I am telling the truth."
Lilith pulled her hand away and covered her mouth. The rims of her eyes instantly got filled with tears. She lowered her head and closed her eyes, the warm tears fell on her palm and her lap.
"After all these years, she finally got reincarnated?" Lilith started to chuckle while shedding tears at the sa ti.
Damien pulled her mother into his chest and gave her a warm hug. His eyes also glistened with tears after seeing his mother shedding happy tears. He smiled and then whispered, "Yes. She got reincarnated."

"How did you find out that Joyce is Mackenzie?" Lilith asked, just to confirm that she wasn't being happy for no reason.
Damien sniffled and then answered, "Joy was recently seeing dreams about Mackenzie's life. She says the dreams are too vivid."
