Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Returning Ho

“Do you want a divorce?”

Pei Yansi looked at the white paper in her hands and knew what it was without having to think. He smiled and extended his hand toward her, “Give it to .”

As he spoke, he also reached for the pen nearby, making it seem as if he was about to grab a pen to use as pliers.

Shen Heyu watched, her heart skipping a beat. She felt sowhat happy, yet sowhat confused; his smile was truly hair-raising.

She dared not defy him and took two steps forward, placing the divorce agreent on his desk.

Pei Yansi looked down. She obediently spread out the docunt so that one could see the contents at a glance. He imdiately noticed the words “Divorce Agreent” in large print.

...

He glanced further down and saw that she had already signed her na.

The smile on his face began to turn icy.

Shen Heyu didn’t understand what was happening. The next second, she saw him holding the divorce agreent in his hands and, right in front of her, tearing it instantly into pieces.

Shen Heyu’s heart trembled along with the falling scraps of paper. She looked at him incredulously, “You won’t sign?”

Pei Yansi sneered, “What do you think?” He would sign only if he weren’t a Pei!

“Didn’t I tell you long ago? There’s no way out of this divorce. Since you like being Mrs. Pei, you can keep that position until you die, trapped here your whole life.”

Shen Heyu frowned.

Watching his cruel smile, she couldn’t describe the feeling in her heart. It was as if there was a dull pain in her abdon—the child inside her was growing by absorbing her essence and blood.

She turned around and left without saying anything further.

She hadn’t even pulled the door handle when she heard the indifferent voice of the man behind her, “Since you’re pregnant, I’ll allow you to go ho and rest well; you needn’t co to the office. I’ll find soone to take over your work at the company.”

Shen Heyu lowered her eyes, “No need.” She wasn’t that fragile, and besides, it wasn’t the ti for her to be completely inactive yet.

“Suit yourself.” His tone and attitude remained indifferent.

Watching her departing figure coldly, he felt no fluctuations in his heart. Yet, seeing the divorce agreent on the floor, torn into pieces by himself, a naless anger smoldered within him.

What was she thinking, assuming she could possibly get away from him?

Ridiculous.

Shen Heyu returned to her office and continued working. However, during work, she kept recalling the ultrasound image she had seen at the hospital, which showed a tiny fetal heartbeat.

That was her and Pei Yan’s creation.

She placed her hand on her abdon, rembering everything that had brought her to this point, and felt a bit soft-hearted. She glanced at the ti and decided to make a personal trip to the hospital to get so beneficial dication for the child.

Shen Heyu drove herself away from the company. Shortly after leaving, a heavy rain began to fall. She then realized that the sweltering sumr had passed, and it was already autumn…

She arrived at the hospital, obtained dication alone, underwent another prenatal checkup, and then left.

By the ti he returned from the hospital to the ancestral mansion, it was already past seven in the evening. Pei Yansi was still not back, and the old lady was nowhere to be seen. She had a nutritionist-prepared dinner casually and then, after taking her dicine, went back to her room to sleep.

As it was the beginning of autumn, she was still unaccustod and forgot to close the window. As she slept, she felt a chill over her body but was too groggy to get up and shut the window.

And Pei Yansi didn’t return ho all night.

When Shen Heyu woke up the next day, she felt groggy, as if she was about to have a fever again. Her mind was woozy, but she finally realized why Pei Yansi had gotten her a nutritionist; her health really was terrible now.

She was unable to rise from her bed, didn’t even have the strength to reach for her phone, let alone make a call. She didn’t know how long she had lain there, drifting in and out of sleep, before she finally heard soone co through the door.

It was the family maid, who asked with concern, “Mrs., are you alright? Aren’t you getting up? Why don’t you eat so breakfast and then continue to rest?”

Shen Heyu’s throat felt hoarse and painfully dry as she said to her, “Call the doctor.”

The maid had decades of life experience and imdiately detected the abnormality in her voice. She hurried over and felt her forehead, exclaiming, “My goodness, Heyu, you have a fever again. It seems really necessary for the master to have gotten you a nutritionist. Hold on, I’ll call the family doctor right away.”

Saying this, the maid quickly took out her phone to contact the family doctor.

It wasn’t long before the doctor arrived and administered an IV to Shen Heyu, leaving so instructions and waiting nearby just in case anything else ca up.

Feeling it wasn’t right for Shen Heyu to have the IV on an empty stomach, the maid went downstairs to bring her breakfast, just running into the old lady getting up.

Seeing where the maid was going, the old lady asked, “Has she not gotten up yet?” She used to not sleep in this late.

The maid replied, “Mrs. has a fever, and the family doctor said she is pregnant too. Really, the master doesn’t even know where he has gone; he didn’t co back all of last night.”

Having been with the Pei family for many years, the maid felt free to speak her mind.

Upon hearing this, the old lady first stiffened, then her face turned unmistakably joyful. She first went to Shen Heyu’s room to comfort her, then called Pei Yan.

Pei Yan was alone in his apartnt, getting ready for work. Hearing that Shen Heyu was ill again, he frowned and muttered, “This woman, she got a nutritionist, so why is it still the sa?”

The old lady retorted unhappily, “What kind of thing is that to say? She’s pregnant now, she’s your woman, and you as a man are doing nothing, are you not ashad? Think about yourself!” She then cut off the call abruptly.

Pei Yan really didn’t want to deal with it and planned to head straight to the office. However, the persistent image of Shen Heyu’s pale, fragile face kept coming back to him—he guessed she must be lying unconscious in bed, her complexion pale and world dim.

Thinking this, he grew increasingly agitated and eventually turned the car around and headed to the Pei family’s mansion.

He arrived quickly.

When he entered the room he shared with Shen Heyu, everyone had already left, no doctor or maid in sight, just the faint sll of chicken soup and a bitter scent of dicine wafting through the air.

He walked up to the bed and looked down at Shen Heyu, her face just as pale as he had imagined, even in sleep creased with worry, oblivious to the world. She looked pitifully vulnerable.

No, this was sowhat different from before.

He bent down to get a closer look.

As he did, he saw a crystal tear hanging on the edge of her eye, glistening and pooling, as though bearing imnse grievance.

He frowned.
