"Is it really appropriate for you to speak to your ex-girlfriend like this? You know very well what Chen Lingng’s feelings for you are. If she finds out that we are still entangled ambiguously, she definitely won’t spare or Yuexue."

Pei Yansi fell silent after hearing Shen Heyu’s words.

"You know why I agreed to the engagent ceremony," Pei Yansi looked into Shen Heyu’s eyes; he had never betrayed her, and she had always been the only one in his heart.

Shen Heyu tugged at the corner of his mouth, wanting to smile, but he couldn’t.

"Of course I know it was to gain their trust and obtain so critical evidence."

"But I want to remind you of one thing. Although you know very well that this engagent is just a play, the other participants don’t see it simply as acting."

Shen Heyu said this because he was reminded of Lu Yi, who had put on a performance for her in the past to completely crush Pei Yansi’s hopes.

And it was that performance that allowed her to see Lu Yi’s true colors, and she was utterly disappointed in him.

"I don’t care about the others involved in this play, I only care about what you think. I want you to know this is just a drama, everything is fake, it’s not my true intention."

Pei Yansi looked at Shen Heyu passionately. He had already lost her once, and he did not want to lose her a second ti.

Shen Heyu glanced at Pei Yansi’s eyes, then slowly turned her head away.

Her mind went blank for a mont. Just then, her phone vibrated. She looked down; it was a ssage from Lu Yunlan.

"Do you have ti now? We haven’t been in touch for so long. Could we et now? I will send you the ti and place."

Shen Heyu did not reply imdiately; she turned back to Pei Yansi. "I have other matters to attend to, so I must go now."

"Don’t you believe what I said?" Pei Yansi reached out to grab Shen Heyu’s wrist, and this ti, she didn’t pull away forcefully.

"It’s not that I don’t believe what you said. It’s just that I don’t trust myself," Shen Heyu picked up her things and glanced down at Pei Yansi’s hand holding her wrist.

Although Shen Heyu said nothing, the aning was clear in her eyes, and Pei Yansi understood what she ant.

He slowly loosened his grip on her wrist and watched helplessly as Shen Heyu disappeared from his sight.

Shen Heyu arrived at the restaurant designated by Lu Yunlan.

Upon seeing Shen Heyu, Lu Yunlan smiled happily. "It feels like we haven’t seen each other in eight hundred years. Seeing you now, you’ve changed so much I almost can’t recognize you."

Shen Heyu smiled and placed her bag on the sofa next to her. "Has it been so long that I look old and worn-out, so you can’t recognize ?"

Lu Yunlan shook her head, her eyes bright and serene as she watched Shen Heyu, her small mouth sweet as honey as she said, "You’ve beco even more beautiful after not seeing each other for a while. If I didn’t know better, I’d think you were so fresh-faced college student."

"You’re joking again. No matter what, I am a mother," said Shen Heyu as the waiter handed over the nu and she began browsing through it.

However, after Gu Siyu finished browsing the nu, she looked up and continued scrutinizing Shen Heyu, "I’m serious, you’re just as beautiful as before. It’s been who has looked quite haggard recently. I must look as if I’ve changed completely."

Hearing this, Shen Heyu looked up, noticing the fatigue in Lu Yunlan’s eyes.

She indeed knew that Lu Yunlan had been tornted by illness these past few days, so her fatigue and haggard appearance were real.

"I’m sorry, back then I didn’t know Gu Siyu t with you to poison you. If I had known, I would have warned you, no, I would have stopped you two from eting, preventing him from extending his wicked claws toward you."

Upon hearing what Lu Yunlan said, Shen Heyu roughly understood the purpose of Lu Yunlan’s visit.

This ti, however, Lu Yunlan lowered her head to avoid direct conversation with Shen Heyu. She looked at the dishes as she spoke, "My brother told about this too. He said you had your own difficult reasons and told not to bla you."

"Don’t worry, I won’t bla you. After all, it was my husband who first poisoned your daughter, causing her a trip to the brink of death, so Gu Siyu poisoning squares things away. Now, no one owes anyone anything."

Lu Yunlan said with a laugh, then she ordered two dishes, which the waiter noted down. After hearing her statent, Shen Heyu’s hand tightened slightly around the nu.

Shen Heyu knew she was definitely upset about this matter, and she also knew that Lu Yi would absolutely not speak on her behalf. He would surely sar her reputation in front of Lu Yunlan, even casting aspersions on her character.

Thus, Lu Yunlan’s seemingly calm deanor was all a façade, only she knew her own inner conflict and struggle.

Shen Heyu also knew that everything Lu Yunlan said was the opposite of her true feelings.

"Yun Lan, I’m sorry. I never blad you for what Chen Wenzhou did, and I didn’t know that Gu Siyu wanted to et you to poison you. After learning you had been poisoned, I felt horrible too, and I thought about helping you find an antidote."

Shen Heyu earnestly apologized to Lu Yunlan. She reached out to hold Lu Yunlan’s hand, but Lu Yunlan forcefully pulled her hand away.

Her body language clearly showed her aversion to Shen Heyu, so no matter how calm she appeared, her heart was seething with resentnt.

"We’ve been best friends for so many years. Don’t you believe what I’m saying? I’ve never had any intention to harm you," Shen Heyu repeated earnestly. She really hadn’t ant to do it, and she was quite distressed when she found out Gu Siyu had poisoned her.

Yet you could clearly see she didn’t take Shen Heyu’s words to heart; she rely looked at Shen Heyu with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile.

"You know we’ve been close friends for so many years, but did you ever consider a real friend? You actually sided with Gu Siyu to poison , using as a bargaining chip to facilitate negotiations with my husband."

Ultimately, Lu Yunlan revealed her deep resentnt towards Shen Heyu. Hearing Lu Yunlan’s reproach, Shen Heyu lowered her head.

"If you’re angry at , yell at all you want, I’m truly sorry," Shen Heyu displayed her apologetic attitude, but Lu Yunlan clearly was not receptive.

Lu Yunlan gave a cold laugh.
