Shen Heyu’s heart leaped to her throat in an instant.

She had not heard Gu Siyu’s plan, but she heard Gu Siyu’s evil laughter, and at the sound of his laughter, Shen Heyu felt her scalp tingle.

When she first t Gu Siyu, he was Yuexue’s attending physician, dressed in a white coat, glowing like an angel.

But now, that universally praised dical Saint’s Hand might no longer exist; Gu Siyu had seemingly turned into another person overnight.

Shen Heyu felt very uneasy, and an instinct deep within her told her that after Gu Siyu’s fall from grace, he might beco a presence more terrifying than Chen Wenzhou.

"He killed my senior sister; what do you think I should do? It’s only fair to exchange a life for a life."

"Gu Siyu, please calm down, do you realize? This is Hua Country; if Chen Wenzhou has killed soone, the law will punish him. All you need to do is find evidence of his cri."

Shen Heyu reminded Gu Siyu not to do anything foolish; he could be considered a victim now, but if he transgressed the law in his quest for revenge, he could very well beco a criminal himself.

"Heyu, how can you ask to calm down? Do you know that during those four years abroad, my senior sister covered for in everything, big and small, she took care of it for ."

"I owe her too much, too much to ever repay in this lifeti. You’re asking to just calm down lightly; do you think that’s possible?"

"Gu Siyu, I understand that the death of Song Miaoyu has hit you hard, but I still hope you can keep your head and not let yourself be dragged into a point of no return."

"I got it, you don’t need to say any more. You better take care of your own daughter. The poison in her body has been cleared, but she needs to recover properly now."

"Here’s a reminder for you, if you have the energy to ddle in other people’s business, you’d better take care of your own affairs. Yuexue is young, she was given an adult dose of poison, and if she doesn’t recover properly, there could be lasting effects."

The words of Gu Siyu caused a substantial quake in Shen Heyu’s psyche; her voice trembling, she inquired, "What kind of lasting effects could there be?"

Gu Siyu heard the shake in Shen Heyu’s voice and laughed with amusent.

"Weren’t you just energetic about managing my affairs? Now that the whip’s on your back, you feel the pain?" Gu Siyu cast two mocking remarks at Shen Heyu.

"Tell , what kind of lasting effects will there be?" Shen Heyu gripped her phone tightly, refusing to let slip a single word or letter said by Gu Siyu.

Gu Siyu’s voice grew colder as he kindly reminded Shen Heyu again, "You should know that Yuexue was poisoned with a dose ant for an adult. Not to ntion, she received the antidote almost half a month after being poisoned. Even if the poison in her body has been cleared now, it’s hard to say whether those toxins might have entered her internal organs."

"What exactly are you saying? Make it clear, what kind of lasting effects will there be?" Shen Heyu almost burst into tears; she had thought that once Yuexue took the antidote, the matter would be over.

But she never imagined there would be lasting effects, that the poison could have possibly infiltrated the young lungs and organs of Yuexue.

"You should have known when Yuexue was first poisoned that with ti, the poison would corrode her internal organs."

"It took half a month after she beca poisoned before she took the antidote, so it’s quite possible that her internal organs have already been eroded by the poison."

Upon hearing this, Shen Heyu couldn’t help but cry aloud, but not wanting to disturb Yuexue, she stifled her mouth and slowly crouched down, leaning against the railing.

"Why didn’t you tell about this sooner?" Shen Heyu felt as if her heart had been jolted by a powerful electric shock.

"I wanted to tell you about this yesterday, but I’ve been so frazzled these days with my senior sister’s issues, I forgot," Pei Yan confessed.

"Has it been confird that her organs have been corroded by the poison?" Shen Heyu asked in a fluster.

"This poison was devised by my senior sister. Even if her organs are affected, regular instrunts can’t detect it, and as I said, this poison has a latent period. It can’t be detected at the onset," explained Pei Yan.

"How can we then confirm whether her organs have been corroded by the poison?" Heyu was particularly concerned about this point.

"My senior sister had an underground laboratory at the villa in my school’s district, which has specialized equipnt that can detect this," Pei Yan revealed.

Hearing this, Shen Heyu clung to a glimr of hope, saying in a flurry, "I can take Yuexue to your suburban villa right now to get a thorough check with that equipnt."

"The equipnt won’t work," Pei Yan interjected.

"Why not?"

"Because using those instrunts requires a password. They were my senior sister’s private machines, and I don’t know what password she set."

"I have to try regardless. How will I know if I don’t try?" Heyu refused to stand by and watch her recently rescued daughter fall back into danger.

"Alright, I’ll co over later to pick you and Yuexue up. Although those machines need a password, there are three attempts to get it wrong before they lock for five days."

"Okay." Shen Heyu had to try no matter what. She wouldn’t miss this sliver of hope.

"Alright," Gu Siyu hung up the phone.

After hanging up, Heyu still gripped her phone tightly. She wanted to cry but didn’t dare, for fear of alarming Yuexue and her picking up on sothing being wrong.

"Mommy, what are you squatting here for?" Yuexue’s voice suddenly ca from behind, startling Shen Heyu as she turned around.

Seeing Yuexue’s face, so much like Pei Yansi, agonizing mories tugged at her heart. She opened her arms and hugged Yuexue tightly.

Holding Yuexue gently, she patted her back, her mind fixated on a single thought.

She wouldn’t let Yuexue fall into that perilous situation; she would save her.

"Mommy, what’s wrong? Is my illness getting worse again?" Yuexue asked with her childlike voice in Heyu’s ear.

Hearing these words, Shen Heyu’s heart felt like it had been stabbed by a rusty knife.

She quickly put on a strong smile, hugging Yuexue tightly and showed her a tender smile.

"Yuexue, what nonsense are you talking about at such a young age? Your illness is cured."

"Mommy, I also feel like my illness is gone."

"Yuexue, how about Mommy takes you to play a ga this afternoon?"
