Chapter 517: Chapter 517: Three-Day Deadline

“Shen Heyu, do you really intend to drive my mother mad,” he said. “Even if she gained possession of you, she couldn’t obtain your heart. Fine, if that’s the case, then I absolutely must have you.”

“Is it I who am driving you mad, or is it you who’re driving mad? Do you have any idea how I’ve been a complete wreck over Yuexue lately? If that’s so, why would you watch suffer like that? Can’t you help out? You’ve helped so many tis in the past.”

Shen Heyu looked at Lu Yi helplessly, her trust in him being the reason she had happily co here. If soone else had called her today claiming they had the antidote, she wouldn’t have been as pleased.

Because in Shen Heyu’s mind, Lu Yi hadn’t yet beco a true enemy. Even though Lu Yi had betrayed Shen Heyu now and had done many things to disappoint her, Shen Heyu still clung to a sliver of hope, thinking perhaps one day he might revert to his forr self.

“I can help you this ti—If you’re still undecided, I’ll give you three days to think about it. After three days, I will make a choice based on your decision.”

anwhile, at the Pei Group.

Pei Yansi frowned as he opened his computer to observe the recent stock market.

While other stocks had rises and falls, the Pei Company’s stock prices surged unilaterally.

It was a good thing that the family company’s stocks were on the rise and could be attributed to Pei Yansi’s adept managent and the company’s ever-growing prospects.

But such a rapid increase within just a few hours was unusual.

Pei Yansi massaged his temples gently with one hand.

“You can go back now.” Just as Pei Yansi was about to look up and tell Zhao Jin to leave and take care of so work, he felt a sudden twitch in his temple and an uneasy premonition surged within him.

Pei Yansi shook his head.

The assistant beside him was perplexed, unsure if Pei Yansi was referring to himself or the woman who had hurriedly left the room just monts ago.

But it was indeed the end of the workday.

“There’s sothing fishy about this matter. Have soone investigate,” he said as he set down his pen and watched his assistant steadily leave the office.

Pei Yansi continued to imrse himself in work, trying to forget Shen Heyu.

Now it was already midnight.

Unknowingly, Shen Heyu found herself at the foot of the company building.

As she looked up, she saw that the top floor of the towering building was still brightly lit.

That light on that floor, like a twinkling star in the sky, shone through the misty clouds.

Why did the corner of her mouth suddenly curl into a smile?

A taxi had already stopped beside her, its impatient driver rolling down the window, “Miss, are you getting in or not?”

Ignoring the impatient taxi driver, Shen Heyu nodded faintly at him and then strode away.

The taxi driver was baffled, “Young people these days—if you miss this ride, you’ll have a long wait for the next one.”

The whole building was shrouded in darkness.

The light was on outside the office door. Walking this stretch of road, her heart finally settled, moving from darkness into light.

Shen Heyu didn’t bother with the courtesy of knocking and pushed the door open.

The man buried in his work hadn’t noticed soone entering the office.

Why did the thought cross her mind that, if an evildoer ca in, Pei Yansi would be in danger?

Why? Why, when for her entire life, revenge ant wanting to see her feel sad and distressed, could she still not help worrying about her?

The world suddenly blurred as if enveloped in a layer of vapor.

Until gentle fingers slowly wiped away the damp tears, and the world beca clear once more.

A face so handso it could topple cities lood larger before her, Zhao Jin’s lips curling into a slight smile.

Pei Yansi appeared serious, “It’s so late, what are you doing here?”

She was rendered speechless at that mont, Zhao Jin at a loss.

Three years had passed, three years since they were married, yet they had not shared a room for a night.

She had always thought that Pei Yansi was off with other won, but she never imagined that Pei Yansi was also toiling so hard.

Her voice rasped suddenly, “It’s so late, don’t you care about your own well-being?” Shen Heyu lifted her hands helplessly, lightly pointing to the clock on the wall.

The illusion only intensified, a result of his own overexertion, Pei Yansi subconsciously raised his hand, his thumb gently caressing Shen Heyu’s face.

It was as if he saw the person he owed so much to, and Pei Yansi smiled, a smile that sank him into mories.

He had never treated himself like this before. Zhao Jin stepped back abruptly, but with too much force—his body shot straight toward the floor.

Zhao Jin shut his eyes tight, his long eyelashes appearing like tiny fans against his fair skin.

Instead of the cold floor, Shen Heyu was caught by a warm embrace.

Slowly opening her eyes, she saw long, charming eyelashes casting soft shadows on the skin.

“May I ask you a question?” Pei Yansi helped Shen Heyu up and courteously kept his distance.

This was illogical. Wasn’t this the very woman he had always longed for? Alone together in a room, how could nothing occur between them?

Shen Heyu bowed her head cautiously, discreetly raising her hand to smooth the loose hair beside her ear.

Watching her like this, Pei Yansi’s smile softened with tenderness.

“Why did you suddenly co?”

Shen Heyu was astonished; she hadn’t expected Pei Yansi to notice imdiately.

After all, in her mind, he hardly understood her at all.

Shen Heyu frowned in confusion, remaining silent.

“Why, can’t I co to see you?” Shen Heyu counter-questioned without answering, deliberately picking at him.

Pei Yansi did not imdiately respond with either affirmation or denial, but in those few seconds, Shen Heyu’s thoughts were in turmoil.

“It’s late. You should head back now.”

Pei Yansi turned away and resud working on his docunts.

Watching his actions, Shen Heyu stomped her foot on the floor forcefully, Ah, at this mont, isn’t he supposed to show his gentlemanly deanor and take ho?

Pei Yansi looked up, querying with his eyes if Shen Heyu had further matters.

Shen Heyu pouted and turned, intentionally making loud sounds with each step as she left.

Shen Heyu tried to slow her pace as much as she could, yet when she reached the ground floor, she did not see his figure.

She let out a deep sigh, looking at the sparsely populated road.

How could she repay him with the suffering he deserved in this lifeti?

Just as Shen Heyu gazed up at the sky, a black Bentley pulled up beside her.
