Lu Yi said sothing completely different from what Pei Yansi had said. Not only that, his words once again overturned Shen Heyu’s imagination.
“Are you sure you heard that right?” Shen Heyu could not believe her ears.
Lu Yi took a deep breath, “Heyu, there’s no need for to lie to you about this. If you hadn’t asked, I wouldn’t have even thought of telling you. If that were the case, you would just think it was because I failed to protect you, not that you really fell for their trick.”
“Do you know how I felt when I heard what you said just now? You told that it was Pei Yansi who rescued you from Chen Wenzhou’s clutches yesterday. At that mont, I even thought about jumping from here.”
“At that ti, I wanted to tell you the truth about what kind of person Pei Yansi really is, but I was worried the truth would be too much for you, so I dared not speak. However, the thought of you regarding Pei Yansi as your lifesaver… In the end, I couldn’t bear the guilt and told you anyway.”
Shen Heyu tugged at the corner of her mouth. She wasn’t trying to smile; she just couldn’t believe the reality. If only this were a nightmare, how good it would be.
She even took a step back. Lu Yi’s rib was broken, and he could only lie obediently in bed, unable to move.
He reached out his hand, trying to pull Shen Heyu towards him, but he was a step too short to touch even a finger of hers.
“Heyu, can you not stand so far away from ?”
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have told you this. If I hadn’t, you would definitely think yesterday’s crisis was over. But I couldn’t bear the thought of you being kept in the dark.”

Shen Heyu was as if she couldn’t hear what Lu Yi was saying. Her world turned silent in an instant, and her mind went blank, the words of Lu Yi and Pei Yansi echoing in her ears.
The two said completely different things, and for a mont, Shen Heyu hesitated, not knowing which version to believe.
“Heyu!” Lu Yi suddenly called out her na in pain, finally bringing her thoughts back to reality.
Shen Heyu ca to her senses and saw Lu Yi had exerted himself to reach for her hand, accidentally hitting his most serious injury and breaking out into a cold sweat from the pain.
Shen Heyu stepped forward, carefully helping Lu Yi to lie back down on the bed, and she looked at his pale face.
“Lu Yi, I appreciate you telling this. Now, I have sothing even more important to deal with. Rest well here for now, I will co back to see you soon.”
Shen Heyu looked at Lu Yi very calmly, and Lu Yi held her hand tightly, asking urgently, “Are you going to find Pei Yansi?”
“You can’t go to him. Pei Yansi is too dangerous. Last night’s incident is a clear warning; I’m worried you’ll get hurt dealing with him.”
Shen Heyu lightly curled her lips, smiled faintly, then loosened his grip on her wrist.
“I’m sorry, but this ti I must find Pei Yansi. I want to ask him face-to-face what exactly happened last night.”
“Heyu, what’s going on with you? What kind of person is Pei Yansi? Don’t you understand by now? He’s been steeped in the business world for so many years, you’re simply no match for him, not to ntion the fact he’s hurt you, how could he possibly tell you the truth himself?”
Shen Heyu heard Lu Yi’s words, but she didn’t take them to heart. She just amused herself by curving her lips upward and giving a faint smile.
The words Lu Yi had just said were truly chilling.
But Shen Heyu’s instincts told her that Pei Yansi wouldn’t do such a thing. She wanted to hear Pei Yansi deny it himself; she even more wanted Pei Yansi to present evidence to prove her instincts were right.
“I know your concerns are valid, but this ti no one can stop . I have to go see him to clear things up, or I won’t have peace of mind.”
“Don’t worry, after what happened last night, I managed to co back completely unscathed; there’s even less reason to think I’d be in any danger going to see him this ti.”
“Once you’ve finished eating, just get so good sleep. By the ti you wake up, you should see .”
After Shen Heyu finished speaking, she picked up her things, turned, and left, ignoring Lu Yi’s calls from behind her.
Once Lu Yi confird that Shen Heyu had left, he endured the pain and took out his phone from under the pillow, and made a call to Chen Wenzhou.
“I’ve done as you said. Shen Heyu now suspects last night’s incident was Pei Yansi’s doing.”
“That’s good, leave the rest to . Now you just need to heal. Do your best to gain Shen Heyu’s sympathy,” Chen Wenzhou said indifferently.
Hearing his casual words, Lu Yi clenched his teeth with hatred but couldn’t help but curse out loud.

Chen Wenzhou heard Lu Yi’s angry voice and just sneered, tugging at the corner of his mouth.
“If you were just a bit smarter, I wouldn’t have had to take things this far. Do you think I really wanted your life? If I hadn’t been helping you from the shadows, you would have already lost Shen Heyu.”
“I also didn’t expect you to be so incompetent. Shen Heyu was in such a state yesterday, and you still managed to screw things up. How could I cooperate with soone like you?”
“It was purely an accident yesterday. I had no idea that just after I left Shen Heyu in the room, realizing I had forgotten sothing in the restaurant, when I was about to go back to get it, I saw Pei Yansi heading straight for Shen Heyu’s room.”
“In that situation, what could I do? Pei Yansi is too sharp. If I had barged into the hotel suite then, Pei Yansi would have guessed everything, and that would have been the end for and Shen Heyu.”
“So you just handed over the trap I ticulously laid to Pei Yansi, allowing him to benefit as the outsider?” Chen Wenzhou was fuming with anger. If he wasn’t clever enough to turn the situation around, he might have been hearing the news of Shen Heyu and Pei Yansi getting back together today.
“In that situation, I had no other choice, and besides, isn’t the current situation unfolding as we expected?”
