"He’s here."

Lu Yi’s mood brightened, and he went ho with Shen Heyu.

The two of them had dinner together at ho, although Shen Heyu barely ate a few bites before she felt full and returned to her room.

No sooner had Shen Heyu entered her room than she received a call from Chen Wenzhou. Seeing that na, noted on her phone’s screen, her eyelids twitched uncontrollably.

Chen Wenzhou calling her could only an trouble. Shen Heyu’s heart raced, but ultimately, she picked up the call and walked out to the balcony.

"How is Yuexue doing?" Shen Heyu was desperate to know her daughter’s condition.

However, on the other end, Chen Wenzhou just chuckled lightly. He had just received a ssage from Lu Yi that they had reconciled, which, naturally, put him in a good mood as well.

"Shall we et tomorrow? I’d like to discuss sothing about your daughter."

"Send the ti and place." Shen Heyu would be there on ti for the appointnt.

Chen Wenzhou scheduled their eting for nine o’clock the following evening, at the local Crown Hotel.

Although the ti seed a bit late, the matter concerned her daughter’s safety, so Shen Heyu had no choice but to agree to et him on ti, no matter how difficult it was.

The next evening at nine o’clock, Shen Heyu arrived at the Crown Hotel on ti. She saw Chen Wenzhou at the reserved dining spot; he seed to have been sitting by a window seat for quite so ti.

When Shen Heyu approached, she noticed that the coffee in front of Chen Wenzhou was already half-drunk, and there had been another cup of coffee across from him, which the waiter had just cleared away as she arrived.

"Who were you eting with just now?" The scene before her painted a clear picture. They had arranged to et at nine in the evening, but Chen Wenzhou had clearly t with soone else before that. She wondered what they could have discussed.

Chen Wenzhou looked up, smiled faintly at Shen Heyu, and said, "That’s my private business, and I don’t believe I’m obligated to report to you."

"The person you just t with, does it have sothing to do with my daughter? And is it possible that the matter you were discussing concerns both and Yuexue?" A foreboding sense filled Shen Heyu’s heart as she sat down across from Chen Wenzhou, full of apprehension.

She had intended to co here with Lu Yi this evening, but at six o’clock, Lu Yi had received a phone call. With other matters occupying him, he had left, and Shen Heyu had waited at ho until half past eight without him returning.

So, she had to co to the appointnt alone.

"Miss Shen is quite perceptive, deducing from just two cups of coffee that the person I t with has sothing to do with you and your daughter, and that our discussion concerns you both. Perhaps Miss Shen might be too self-absorbed?"

Shen Heyu gave a cold laugh. She didn’t waste any ti with Lu Yi, bringing up what she truly cared about, "If that were not the case, why didn’t you directly deny my question, instead of wasting ti and energy leading around in such a big circle?"

"That’s because Miss Shen guessed correctly. The matter I discussed with that person does indeed involve you and your daughter."

"I’m a scoundrel, true to my nature, so I have no interest in lying to Miss Shen. Given the depth of our relationship, it wouldn’t be right to deceive you."

Chen Wenzhou smiled faintly at Shen Heyu, but to her, the smile on his face seed more like a dangerous signal.

"You’re telling so straightforwardly that the matter you were just conspiring about with that person involves both and Yuexue?" Shen Heyu couldn’t help but clench her fists subconsciously.

Chen Wenzhou was simply too arrogant, openly kidnapping her daughter, and using her daughter to blackmail her into breaking things off with Pei Yansi completely.

Now he even dared to confront Shen Heyu head-on, openly telling her that the conspiracy he had with soone else might be harmful to her and Yuexue.

Who gave him the courage to think everything was under their control when anything can happen?

Without realizing it, Chen Wenzhou’s smile on his face deepened as he picked up his coffee and took a slow sip, while Shen Heyu watched his every expression and movent intently.

"Miss Shen, there’s no need to be so tense. Since I dare to tell you directly that what I just discussed with soone else relates to you, maybe what we discussed is sothing that would be entirely to your benefit and not at all to your detrint?"

Hearing this, Shen Heyu felt the irony and tugged at the corners of her mouth, but she couldn’t bring herself to smile.

"Save that line for yourself. Do you believe it yourself?" For soone like him to have the audacity to say that what he plotted with soone else could be entirely beneficial to her was laughable. He might as well go fool a ghost with that.

Chen Wenzhou chuckled but did not answer the question.

"Miss Shen, you don’t have to be so hostile towards . I asked you out today just to show you a video to see how well-fed and comfortable your daughter is right now, completely free from worry."

Chen Wenzhou took out his phone, pressed the play button, then went offline, and a surveillance video appeared on the screen.

It showed her daughter, sitting alone on the bed, holding a rabbit doll, looking around warily.

"Yuexue!" Shen Heyu, anxiously reaching to grab the phone, saw the screen go black as the video disappeared, and Chen Wenzhou took back his phone.

"I want to talk to Yuexue. rely with this video, I can’t tell if she is indeed safe," Shen Heyu’s pupils dilated as she looked at Chen Wenzhou, while he smiled back with ease.

"Miss Shen, you’re asking for too much. The fact that I took the initiative to et with you today and show you this surveillance footage is already quite lenient. All you need to know is that your daughter is very safe with , provided that you comply."

Chen Wenzhou tucked away his phone inconspicuously as Shen Heyu stood up, panicked, her hands bracing against the table.

"I want to speak to Yuexue." Shen Heyu reiterated her demand, while Chen Wenzhou rely lifted his coffee, a contemplative smile on his face, slowly eting Shen Heyu’s eyes.

Shen Heyu realized she was getting too worked up. Once involved with the people and things she cared about the most, she could easily lose her ability to think. Shen Heyu took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.

After sitting down, she picked up a cup of soda water from the table and took a couple of sips to cool herself off.

And this was precisely the effect Chen Wenzhou wanted to see. He saw Shen Heyu drink the soda water, and the smile on his face eerily deepened, as the soda water had sothing extra added to it.

Within just three minutes, Shen Heyu would black out. At that mont, she neglected another thing—that they were the only two patrons in the entire coffee shop.

To facilitate the operation, Chen Wenzhou had booked the entire coffee shop. Now all he had to do was wait for the drug to take effect.

Chen Wenzhou took out his phone and sent a ssage to Lu Yi.

"The fish has taken the bait."
