Lu Yi loudly retorted, his tone high but his commanding voice hid a hint of panic, which Pei Yansi keenly caught.
Pei Yansi saw the pale look on Lu Yi’s face and couldn’t help but sneer lightly, pulling the corners of his lips in derision.
"I’m just proposing my guess, you don’t need to react so strongly. Or is it that you have a guilty conscience?" Pei Yansi’s deep eyes stared at Lu Yi.
Lu Yi t his gaze, feeling his whole being trembling slightly.
"I haven’t!"
"Enough!" Shen Heyu couldn’t stand it anymore; she walked up to Pei Yansi, stood in front of him with her arms spread to shield Lu Yi behind her, her eyes resolute.
She was actually defending Lu Yi?
The smile on Pei Yansi’s face disappeared at lightning speed; he frowned deeply as he observed Shen Heyu’s determined look.
"What do you an by this? Do you trust Lu Yi that much? Yes, it’s very possible that the Lu Yi who used to be by your side wouldn’t do such a thing. But people’s hearts are insatiable, who can be sure that a person will never change?"
Pei Yansi narrowed his eyes at Shen Heyu, hoping she wouldn’t be careless. Everyone deserved suspicion, especially given the mysterious nature of the accident. Yet, Lu Yi had only suffered a minor scratch, which in itself was peculiar and worth pondering.
"I admit your words have so rit, but it’s unnecessary. Lu Yi is already injured. Please stop saying things to provoke him, alright?"
"If you ca here today just to clarify that the accident has nothing to do with you, just provide evidence to prove your innocence. I will believe you, but please don’t disturb his rest here; the patient needs peace."
As Pei Yansi listened to Shen Heyu’s words, he wanted to laugh, but he couldn’t.
"I will surely provide evidence that this matter has nothing to do with . If soone is playing gas, I will find out who, and I will not let them succeed." Pei Yansi’s sharp gaze bypassed Shen Heyu to glance at Lu Yi, whose face was unnaturally pale.

Shen Heyu took a deep breath, fully aware of the extent of the injuries on both Pei Yansi and Lu Yi.
"Since Mr. Pei is so severely injured, then you shouldn’t be wandering around. It’s better to go back to your room to rest. There is the door; I won’t see you out." Shen Heyu showed an expression that was clearly dismissing him.
Pei Yansi looked at Shen Heyu’s indifferent expression, tugged at the corner of his lips—he wanted to laugh, but he couldn’t.
"Fine." Pei Yansi nearly spat the word out through clenched teeth.
"Shen Heyu, since you trust Lu Yi so much, you’d better pray that his hands are clean, or I’ll catch him in the act." After saying this, Pei Yansi turned and walked away.
And Lu Yi’s panic grew. He couldn’t help but yell at the door.
"Pei Yansi, you bastard, what do you an by that? I’ll tell you, my love for Shen Heyu is upright and honest. I haven’t done anything wrong!"
The louder Lu Yi’s voice grew, the more guilty he actually felt.
After Pei Yansi left, only he and Shen Heyu remained in the room. Yet, at that mont, he surprisingly didn’t have the courage to look into Shen Heyu’s eyes.
Because his conscience was guilty, he had done many things behind Shen Heyu’s back, even today’s baseless speculations by Pei Yansi had actually hit the mark.
Shen Heyu poured a glass of water for Lu Yi and comforted him, "Alright, don’t fuss over it with him. He’s already gone, and the doctor had urged you to rest well and keep calm."
Lu Yi absentmindedly took the glass of water from Shen Heyu and slowly lowered his eyes.
"Heyu, please don’t believe a word Pei Yansi said about , he’s just trying to sar . I would never do anything to hurt you, you must believe ."
As he spoke, Lu Yi couldn’t help but lift his head to look into Shen Heyu’s eyes, but he saw not a trace of doubt in them.
Shen Heyu looked at Lu Yi and offered a comforting smile, "Don’t worry, I will believe you. I know very well what kind of person you are."
There was another important reason she chose to trust Lu Yi - back when she had just separated from Pei Yansi, struggling alone with Yuexue, it was Lu Yi who took them in and ticulously cared for them, significantly easing Shen Heyu’s burdens.
