"Who is the mole by his side?" Lu Yi asked curiously.

"I can’t tell you that. The person by his side is my trump card. How could I easily reveal his identity?"

"What you need to be worried about right now isn’t Pei Yansi or who the undercover agent by his side is, but healing properly. It would be best to appear severely injured in front of Shen Heyu, as that would certainly stir her gratitude and guilt."

"I don’t need your reminder!" He even had the nerve to ntion it. Every ti the matter was brought up, Lu Yi felt a fire burning in his heart.

People like him, who gambled with their partner’s life, as well as the lives of the won their partners cherished most, made Lu Yi fear that a deeper cooperation would lead to his utter ruin.

After hanging up the phone in anger, Lu Yi clenched his fist and slamd it hard against the railing.

Thud, thud, thud...

Knocking sounds ca from the door.

Lu Yi turned to look; it should be Shen Heyu returning. He composed his emotions and put on a sickly appearance before opening the door, and indeed, it was Shen Heyu standing at the doorway.

Shen Heyu’s complexion looked even worse.

"What did Pei Yansi say to you just now that made you look so upset?" Lu Yi looked at Shen Heyu with concern.

He poured a glass of water and handed it to Shen Heyu, inadvertently touching her hand, which was cold as ice.

Shen Heyu managed to lift the corners of her mouth in a smile for him.

She shook her head and said, "You don’t need to worry, he didn’t say anything too out of line. He cleared your na in this matter, conducting a thorough investigation and finding it was a misunderstanding; my abduction has nothing to do with you."

"This matter has nothing to do with to begin with. He actually dared to concoct that it was my doing and then shift the bla onto himself with his lies. Just the thought of him entangling you with such cunning ans and nurous sches makes my blood boil."

Lu Yi clenched his fists in anger.

"Don’t be angry anymore. I always feel that my kidnapping isn’t as simple as it seems; it’s like an invisible hand is deliberately causing discord among us."

Shen Heyu didn’t believe that Lu Yi was behind it, nor did she believe Pei Yansi planned it, even if Pei Yansi would resort to any ans to bind her to his side.

"This matter was never simple. I believe it was orchestrated by Pei Yansi; after all, the evidence is laid out in front of us. Yet he insists on quibbling, claiming that such evidence can easily be fabricated."

"Soone as cautious and careful as Pei Yansi, how could he possibly leave behind such clear incriminating evidence? Even though we scarcely scraped together so evidence, he claims it isn’t compelling enough." Lu Yi slandered Pei Yansi.

"Don’t get so upset over this. Didn’t the doctor say that you need to remain calm and heal?"

"But as long as the mystery of your abduction isn’t solved, I can’t calm down."

"Don’t rush into a frenzy. Look, I’m the victim of the kidnapping, and even I haven’t said much. Why do you seem more anxious and upset than I am? Do you know what that’s called?"

"I know what you want to say, but we absolutely cannot take this matter lightly." Lu Yi was very serious.

"I’m just saying not to dwell on it too much, not that we won’t continue investigating. Right now, the most important thing is for you to heal properly so that you can leave the hospital and then look into my abduction."

"By the way, did you find the driver who bumped into at the doorstep this morning?" Lu Yi wasn’t suddenly rembering this issue; he was worried it might leave sothing incriminating behind.

"No. The driver’s car didn’t have any plates, and he drove away right after hitting soone, taking routes with blind spots to avoid surveillance. We haven’t found him yet, but don’t worry, as the saying goes, ’Heaven net spreads wide; though the sh is coarse, nothing slips through.’"

On hearing that the driver had not yet been caught, Lu Yi breathed a sigh of relief, but his expression grew even tenser.

"You’re suggesting this might not have been an accident, but rather sothing planned by soone?" Lu Yi deliberately steered Shen Heyu towards this line of thought.

"What do you an?"

"I feel that this incident doesn’t resemble an accident, but rather seems like a coincidence, or maybe sothing orchestrated by soone."

In fact, Shen Heyu had also thought of this possibility, but she didn’t dare to continue the thought. She was worried that she might arrive at a conclusion that would frighten her.

"Shen Heyu, think about it. Yesterday, Pei Yansi said that your kidnapping was plotted by to set him up, and then this morning, we were going out to find Pei Yansi, to confront him about it face to face."

"And then, just as we left the house today, we encountered the car accident, and coincidentally, the driver had no license plate, and he managed to escape without being caught on any surveillance caras. It all seems like it was ticulously planned in advance."

What Lu Yi said made sense, and Shen Heyu considered his words seriously.

"You’re suspecting..." Shen Heyu looked into Lu Yi’s eyes but didn’t say the na.

"Pei Yansi."

Pei Yansi frowned at the unwelco visitor in his hospital room. Shen Heyu had left not long ago, and now Chen Lingng had appeared, obviously coming to add to his troubles.

"I don’t want to see you right now; leave imdiately."

Chen Lingng had just entered Pei Yansi’s hospital room when he bluntly told her to leave, but it was as if she hadn’t heard him and wheeled herself over to Pei Yansi’s side.

"Brother Yan Si, I know you’re hurt and not in a good mood, but you can’t just send away. I ca to visit you today, and I even brought the chicken soup I made with my own hands."

"You don’t know it, but I burned my hand while making chicken soup for you. Look here, I even have a blister on my hand."

Shen Heyu stretched out her pampered and delicate hands.

But Pei Yansi didn’t even spare them a glance, and just sat down on the sofa nearby, frowning.

"Take your things and go; I don’t want to see you right now." There was an obvious anger in Pei Yansi’s tone.

"If Brother Yan Si doesn’t want to see , who else would you like to see? Let guess, you must be wanting to see Shen Heyu right now."

Even though she was well aware, Chen Lingng still deliberately provoked Pei Yansi, unable to stand his lingering feelings for Shen Heyu.

"Leave imdiately."

"Brother Yan Si, even if you send away, Shen Heyu isn’t going to co back to find you because she’s entered Lu Yi’s hospital room."

"What? Lu Yi’s in the hospital? Which hospital is he in right now?" Pei Yansi was sowhat surprised when he heard this.

"Brother Yan Si, haven’t you always disliked Lu Yi? Why are you so concerned about his wellbeing?"

Chen Lingng didn’t answer Pei Yansi’s question, and he fixed her with an even more serious gaze.
