Chapter 378: Chapter 378: It’s Him

She seed to finally understand why Pei Yansi had said those words just now.

Was he giving himself ti to back out? Or was he giving himself more ti to think?

Chen Lingng couldn’t say for sure.

But indeed, she could guess why Pei Yansi had repeatedly emphasized that marrying him was not a good thing.

Was he trying to make her compromise voluntarily?

“Take care of yourself.”

Chen Wenzhou turned and left without saying more to her.

She sat alone in the hospital room, thinking about everything that had happened and the words these people had said to her.

She could no longer distinguish right from wrong, nor could she know how a man would treat his wife after marriage; she only knew that since she had co this far, there was no turning back.

She must see this path through to the end.

At the sa ti, Shen Heyu walked off the plane with her daughter.

This was a Southern city, where it rained in all seasons, warm like spring. As soon as they disembarked, Heyu felt the city’s fresh air, which seed to carry a scent of freedom.

Especially the green belt, the cedar forests, were landscapes Heyu had rarely ever seen before.

Most of them, she had only seen in photographs.

Now the snow nearly covered the entire mountaintop; only the disordered scenery allowed the white peaks to clearly stand out.

Her daughter, visiting the Southern region for the first ti and seeing snow on the mountains for the first ti, excitedly clapped and jumped, saying to Heyu, “Look, Mommy, plum blossoms! Daddy likes them the most, he has so many in his study.”

As a child, she had seldom seen dostic flowers, especially those like plum blossoms, which held a different significance for Pei Yansi.

Though for Heyu, they were extrely common. She patted her daughter’s head. “Let’s find a place to stay first.”

Heyu took her daughter’s hand.

And walked toward a nearby hotel.

Yuexue let her lead, her large, curious eyes examining this Southern city. “Mommy, do you like plum blossoms?”

“Just okay.”

Shen Heyu went to check in with her daughter and settled into their room. Still thinking about the plum blossoms, her daughter sat on the sofa, close to Shen Heyu, and earnestly said,

“But Daddy said he likes them a lot because he thinks they’re a lot like you. What does that an? Flowers are flowers, and people are people. How can Mommy be like a plum blossom?”

Shen Heyu was startled for a mont.

She hadn’t expected that.

Did Pei Yansi think she resembled a plum blossom? Was that why he liked them? Actually, since returning to Pei Mansion, their relationship had not been harmonious.

She preferred not to engage.

So she rarely went to his territory, which included his study. But Yuexue often did, as she would always pester him to tell her stories.

And it was during these tis that he told his daughter she was like a plum blossom.

Shen Heyu said, “It’s a taphor for a person’s quality, not their appearance.”

Yuexue seed to understand, nodding her head vaguely. She looked out at the world beyond the window, her expression a bit bewildered, then turned to Shen Heyu with seriousness, “Will Daddy co to pick us up like last ti?”

The last ti Shen Heyu had gone to Jiang City alone, Pei Yansi had co for her, forcibly taking both of them back.

But for Yuexue, it was rely being fetched ho.

Shen Heyu wore a bitter smile; this ti, the elder lady had made her move personally, even taking a private plane—she definitely wouldn’t let Pei Yansi trace her whereabouts.

He wouldn’t co.

Shen Heyu patted her daughter’s head, “Do you miss him?”

The daughter nodded, “Daddy was very nice to . And I was also thinking about going back to school—are we not going back anymore? Will I still be going to school?”

Yuexue’s questions piled up one after another, leaving Shen Heyu montarily unsure how to answer.

Of course she needed to continue her education, but it might not be possible for her to attend such prestigious schools anymore.

Shen Heyu hugged her and sighed deeply.

Without saying much to her.

Yuexue, more sensible and mature than her peers, noticed her mother’s deanor and understood that she didn’t wish to elaborate, so she asked no further, content to sit quietly in her mother’s arms, gazing out at the Southern city outside.

She vaguely understood that her parents must have argued.

If daddy could appear again, she was determined to be the great person who would nd their relationship.

The child set such an intention in her heart; though it might have seed laughable, it was made with the utmost sincerity.

Shen Heyu stayed with her daughter in a hotel for one night; the next day, she left her daughter alone at the hotel and went out to look for work and a place to live.

The elder lady had given her a considerable amount of money.

Enough to settle down in this city and live comfortably—she could even afford to provide for her daughter without having to work for the rest of her life, living quite at ease.

Because owning 6% of the Pei Family’s shares, the profits were already sufficient to support her and her daughter for a lifeti.

However, Shen Heyu was not one to settle for complacency; even if life held no further worries, she liked to strive for more.

She found a new job at a dance school, primarily teaching dance to students.

She had loved dancing since childhood, despite not majoring in it at university.

Yet, due to her family’s circumstances, she was forced to give it up.

Now with the ans to live independently, she wanted to rekindle her forr passion.

She found a rental apartnt with two bedrooms; it was an average size but had good lighting, facing south with the back towards the north.

The next day, she took her daughter to their new ho and arranged all the paperwork for her school enrollnt.

Mother and daughter had finally settled down in the city, and by the ti everything was sorted out, a week had passed.

Shen Heyu, as usual, went to teach dance at school. As she was about to finish work, she overheard a broadcast from the school’s news system.

The school was boarding-style, aiming to keep students inford about the outside world; they broadcasted news at scheduled tis each day.

Shen Heyu heard the financial news segnt ntioned that Pei Yansi was rging with the Chen Family and would be having his wedding next month.

She had to admit that upon hearing this news, she felt a tremor in her chest—a sensation of pain.

Her breathing beca montarily erratic.

So, the wedding date agreed upon with Pei Yansi for the following month had ultimately beco his wedding date with soone else.

She rembered when she was still by his side, how he had personally assured her he would handle everything properly and would not marry Chen Lingng.

Yet, within just a week of her departure, he had compromised.

“Heyu, why aren’t you leaving yet?” A colleague approached her, noticing Shen Heyu standing dazed, and patted her shoulder, “Work’s over. There’s a get-together for our class today, and all the teachers are going out for dinner together. Are you coming?”

Shen Heyu nodded, “Yes.”

This colleague was the first person Shen Heyu had t here, and they had grown a bit closer.

Just as Shen Heyu and she stepped out of the school grounds, they saw a luxury car parked by the roadside.
