Chapter 365: Chapter 365 Harmony

In the hospital, in Chen Lingng’s ward.

Chen Lingng was still lying on the hospital bed, her head wrapped in layers of gauze, making it impossible to make out her complexion, only able to see that many dical devices in the room were operating at high speed.

Many mbers of the Chen family were standing or sitting around the bed.

Pei Yansi quietly watched her, his eyes devoid of emotion, simply asking Grandpa Chen, “How is she in any state to ask to see ?”

It wasn’t hard to tell that he was dissatisfied with Grandpa Chen’s deception.

He had been tricked by Grandpa Chen into coming to the hospital.

Grandpa Chen looked at his granddaughter with eyes full of pain, his voice much lower as he said, “I wanted to see you. I have sothing to tell you.”

Pei Yansi looked at him coldly, showing no deference, “If it’s still about marrying her, Mr. Chen should save his breath. I’ve said it, I am not going to divorce my wife.”

Grandpa Chen said, “I know you and Miss Shen have a good relationship, I could tell when we were in the car. But you need to understand, feelings can be developed, but they can also be forgotten.”

“Ling ng has damaged her legs for your sake, and for the rest of her life, she will have to sit in a wheelchair. I think this is sothing you cannot ignore, you should take responsibility for her.”

Pei Yansi frowned.

“I believe the vast Chen Family surely doesn’t need my help, and even without it, you have more than enough ans to ensure she can live comfortably.”

“But what we lack is soone who can take care of her for a lifeti.”

Grandpa Chen stared hard at Pei Yansi, “Don’t be ungrateful. If it wasn’t for her, you’d be the one lying here. Besides, from your original angle, you saw the surveillance footage – if that car had hit, you’d have lost more than just your legs. Don’t you understand?”

Pei Yan sat in silence.

He wearily pressed at his temples, of course knowing that if Chen Lingng hadn’t followed him and Chen Wenzhou that day and saved him in ti, he wouldn’t have survived.

In all fairness, Chen Lingng had saved his life, and all she wanted in return was to marry him.

Pei Yansi didn’t speak or agree, but he also didn’t reject the offer as bluntly as before. Grandpa Chen knew n well and sensed that usually, in such a case, they were wavering.

Knowing that pushing too hard could have the opposite effect, he didn’t continue on the subject, but said lightly, “Yansi, you two grew up together after all. You really should think about this. Your wife, it seems like she doesn’t care about you that much.”

Pei Yansi glanced at him and turned to leave.

Throughout the whole conversation, he had given no indication of his response.

When Pei Yansi left, he happened to see Zhao Jin’s car waiting at the curb to pick him up.

He got into the car and lit a cigarette first, fatigue etched between his handso brows, and he asked Zhao Jin, “What was her reaction when you sent her back?”

As Zhao Jin drove towards the Pei Mansion, he replied, “Miss Shen didn’t seem very happy.”

“She seed jealous, a bit sad, and she even asked if you were injured.”

Pei Yansi gave a slight smile, exhaling a stream of smoke from his mouth.

Who said she didn’t care about him, when in fact she never spoke about her concerns aloud.

Pei Yansi thought, even if she truly didn’t care, all he wanted was himself, and no matter what others said, he wouldn’t easily let go of the shackles he had on her.

The car soon arrived at the old mansion.

Pei Yansi couldn’t wait to see Shen Heyu.

However, as he was about to enter the bridal chamber, he heard the old lady’s voice behind him, “I have sothing to say to you.”

Pei Yansi turned around and saw the old lady frown, then glanced at her wristwatch; it was already very late, and his frown deepened, “It’s so late; why aren’t you resting?”

The old lady turned and walked to her room, “I’ve been waiting for you.”

Pei Yansi glanced at the bridal chamber, thought for a mont, and still decided to follow the old lady first.

Upon entering the old lady’s room, she got straight to the point, “You should divorce Heyu. I know all about what you’ve done to her, how you forced her to register for marriage; you could actually do such a thing!”

“How many divorce certificates, marriage certificates, all with your na on them, are you not ashad?”

The old lady rarely spoke to him so seriously since he had long been the person in charge of the Pei Family; she hardly ever ddled in his affairs.

Only occasionally, when she couldn’t stand it, would she reprimand him.

Pei Yansi frowned and said, “Why are you ddling in this matter again?”

“What do you an, again?” The old lady gave him a sharp look and said, “Anyways, your relationship with Heyu has long reached a point of mutual dislike. Divorce her and marry Ling ng.”

Pei Yansi’s frown deepened, like little hills, “Impossible. Just enjoy your family happiness, and don’t interfere with my affairs.”

Having said that, he turned to leave.

He had barely reached the door when he heard the old lady angrily shout, “Even if Heyu loves you, she doesn’t want to stay by your side. She hasn’t forgotten what you did to her six years ago; she’s unhappy every day, constantly thinking about leaving.”

“Now Ling ng wants to be by your side; to marry you, she has given up so much, and now because of you, she has lost the use of her legs. If you don’t help them, how many more people do you want to harm?!”

Pei Yansi’s steps halted.

The old lady’s words seed to penetrate his heart; he suddenly felt an unbearable pain in his chest. Facilitating their happiness, now it seed, was the best decision.

Yet, he also felt the stirring of other things he had never considered before.

The old lady continued, “Ling ng grew up with you, she’s like my own granddaughter; you can’t treat her like this, injuring her heart, being so cold even after she lost the use of her legs. And Heyu, she’s been my daughter-in-law for so many years; I have feelings for her too.”

“Moreover, she is the one you truly love, the mother of your daughter. She’s unhappy by your side; you can’t do this to her, hurting her heart. One is like your own sister, and the other is your most beloved; do you really have to grievously hurt both of them?”

Pei Yansi had an epiphany.

But after regaining clarity, a greater sense of loneliness and helplessness surged over him.

Both were people he didn’t want to hurt, but if he didn’t do as the old lady said, he would only hurt these two people who, to him, were equally significant.

Only by completely letting go of Shen Heyu and marrying Chen Lingng would this matter co to a satisfactory conclusion.

Knowing he had taken her words to heart, the old lady added, “Besides, you know Ling ng has been around for so many years, even if you keep Yuexue by your side, she will certainly love her as her own. Or if Yuexue goes with Heyu, Heyu can also take good care of her.”

Pei Yansi sighed deeply, “I’ll give this matter so serious thought.”
