Chapter 355: Chapter 355 Pushing Further Away

“This has nothing to do with him; soone is framing him from the shadows. As for who it is, we’re still investigating.”

Chen Lingng said this with a straight face, no hint of emotion betraying her. Chen Wenzhou sat quietly on the side, watching the scene unfold with a hint of surprise at how calm and composed Chen Lingng was.

It seed completely at odds with the sister he rembered.

Perhaps his understanding of her was far from complete. After all, over the years she studied abroad, the siblings had not interacted much.

Lu Yunlan, listening to Chen Lingng, beca increasingly puzzled.

Still, it didn’t make sense to Lu Yunlan, who else would want to fra Chen Wenzhou?

And what was the point of such a sche? Daring to target the Chen Family?

Lu Yunlan spoke her mind, “I don’t think that anyone would dare to target the Chen Family.”

As she spoke, she fixed Chen Lingng with a deep, skeptical gaze, “So, I do not believe the explanations from either of you.”

Chen Lingng did not engage in an argunt with Lu Yunlan over who would dare to move against the Chen Family.

Instead,

she turned Lu Yunlan’s logic against her, “Based on what you’ve said, I could also question your reasoning. I don’t believe that siblings who truly want to harm each other would co together and explain themselves in front of you.”

“Now I would really like to ask whether they are enemies wishing death upon each other, or if they are siblings with affection?”

Lu Yunlan found herself at a loss for words when confronted with Chen Lingng’s question.

For a mont, she didn’t know what to say.

Seeing this, Chen Lingng continued, “It seems that your relationship with my brother is also superficial. Here I am, a victim, stepping forward to clarify things, yet you still don’t believe. Brother, this is as far as I can help you.”

After finishing, she lowered her head to the book she had by her hand and did not glance at Lu Yunlan again.

It appeared that she didn’t care about what would happen between them afterward.

Seeing her like this, Lu Yunlan didn’t say anything further. She got up and left the hospital room. Chen Wenzhou gave Chen Lingng one last look before following her out.

Once out of the hospital room, the two of them t again in the hospital’s stairwell.

Chen Wenzhou took her hand, “You still won’t believe ?”

Lu Yunlan looked up and saw his affectionate eyes, her heart becoming sowhat chaotic.

She knew this was his usual trick, feigning deep affection to deceive her sincerity. She quickly averted her gaze, afraid to et his eyes, lest she beco completely ensnared.

She said, “Give so more ti to think about it.”

“I hope that during this ti I’m considering, you won’t co to find . Let calm down properly, and you need to cool off as well.”

Having spoken, Lu Yunlan didn’t allow him the chance to respond and walked past him to leave. Chen Wenzhou watched her go, not pursuing further.

He knew it wasn’t the right ti.

He had explained all he could, and if this was her attitude, he should not press forward. Otherwise, he would only drive her further away.

Feeling sowhat exhausted, he took a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and inhaled deeply. Just then, he heard a cold male voice behind him: “Are you really so indifferent to let her cool off?”

Chen Wenzhou turned around and saw Pei Yansi holding a cigarette between his fingers, walking towards him.

Chen Wenzhou didn’t expect Pei Yansi to seek him out and wondered about his intentions. Of course, he rembered how, when Shen Heyu was hurt, Pei Yansi had seed almost eager to flay him alive.

He remained silent.

Pei Yansi stood by his side, both gazing at the sa view. He said, “I’ll continue to settle the score with you about Heyu’s incident, but there’s sothing I don’t understand right now.”

“What?”

Chen Wenzhou turned to look at him, seemingly indifferent about the threat of ‘settling the score’, asking calmly what Pei Yansi didn’t understand about him.

Or perhaps, what could the distinguished President Pei be puzzled about regarding his life?

Pei Yansi turned to look at him, exhaled smoke, and said, “I see that you are quite sincere towards Miss Lu, but don’t you realize that by continuing to let her cool off, you will only push her further away?”

“Why would President Pei think so?” Chen Wenzhou asked flatly.

Pei Yansi said, “Intuition.”

He didn’t tell Chen Wenzhou that he had experienced the sa thing before. He now deeply regretted not having stopped Shen Heyu from leaving back then.

If he hadn’t let her go, their outco might have been different. Sadly, now, no matter what he did, it was exceedingly difficult to get her attention.

Pei Yansi felt distressed and even remorseful, but couldn’t find a good solution. In the end, he could only resort to coercion and temptation to forcibly keep Shen Heyu by his side.

After all, he did not wish to experience again what had happened six years ago. He had to make her stay, by whatever ans necessary.

But now, seeing Chen Wenzhou’s approach with Lu Yunlan was completely different from his own with Heyu.

Pei Yansi couldn’t help but feel puzzled.

Why?

What he also wanted to know was what different outcos the two approaches would yield.

He really wanted to verify or rather witness for himself, and Chen Wenzhou was now his perfect test subject.

Chen Wenzhou said, “Feelings are a difficult thing for many people to clarify. Has President Pei reached a conclusion just on intuition?”

Pei Yansi paused, as though he had never considered this question. His actions and dealings were always direct and authoritarian, not allowing others room to refuse.

It was the sa with romantic feelings.

He had never considered such a possibility.

Indeed, why had he concluded anything based on a re feeling about sothing as complex as affection?

Chen Wenzhou saw his hesitation and said, “It seems that President Pei also has his own worries.”

Pei Yansi said, “My advice to you is to force her to stay by your side. It’s for your own good.”

Chen Wenzhou mulled it over. Extrely astute, he picked up on what Pei Yansi ant with his advice, but given President Pei’s status and pride, he had simply danced around the issue.

Chen Wenzhou said without any hesitation, “It seems Miss Shen is not staying with President Pei voluntarily.”

Pei Yansi gave no confirmation or denial, rely narrowing his eyes at Chen Wenzhou with an unfriendly look.

Chen Wenzhou was undaunted and said calmly, “President Pei, that was a mistake.”

Pei Yansi raised his eyebrows, waiting for him to go on.

“Forceful thods only make a woman feel disrespected. It will only push her further away.”

Chen Wenzhou said, “Sincerity is always precious, President Pei. If you want Miss Shen to stay by your side forever, restraint is what you need most.”

“Even if you pretend to be gentle and respectful, what’s the issue once she is wholly devoted? Why not reveal your true self then?”
